  1. Agreed, I've owned 3 and they all used some oil. What year is your current Boxster?
  2. Just about all automakers will do nothing about an engine using 1 quart per 1000 miles.
  3. I will need to replace T1R's on my IS350 later this year probably. Thinking Hankook or Nitto Invo, any pros/cons to consider?
  4. I got my model year 2013 vehicle last year in March. Athough my wife has her eye on the CLA, maybe that will come out later in 2013...
  5. I see. My front pads were replaced at 30K with the low dust version (per TSB) at no cost to me.
  6. So were your factory pads worn to the point of needing replacement at 30K miles?
  7. Congrats on your new LS400, sounds like a nice example.
  8. I have used the NAPA UP rotors on several vehicles including my Tahoe and 2008 Corvette. Never a problem. I also install ceramic pads to cut down on the dust. Very satisfied with both. How about your IS250? (miles on brake pads and rotors, if they have ever been replaced)

I'm glad to see his primarily automotive focus (versus spewing excessive policitcal rhetoric), given this is LOC and I do appreciate his efforts here.
  10. IS350 w/3.5L will probably end up being the high-performance model. The 8 speed tranny is a + , the extra 50 pounds of road-hugging weight a - .
  11. 1. So it's still in warranty now? (Yeah I've experienced other automakers such as Porsche doing out of warranty repairs, if it's still in warranty doesn't apply.) 2. So why are you changing oil at 3000 miles, (not clear from your answer), is that when it's down a quart?
  12. 1. What kind of warranty is this, what company? 2. Why change oil every 3000 miles?
  13. Certainly an alarming change in oil usage. What did Lexus dealer say the problem was?
  14. Happened 3 times. Is this a quart used every 3,000 miles or every 1,000 miles? (I'm asking because above you said "At 87,588 miles the red oil light came on about 3,000 miles after the previous oil change... ") What was the oil usage previously?
  15. ^ Agreed it's growing on me too. It still looks like a IS and still looks like a Lexus, certainly more aggressive than past versions. Good to see Lexus take this segment so seriously, it's too lucrative to ignore.

    Hi

Welcome to lexusowners club. (I visited your part of the UK many years ago, beautiful countryside. )
  17. Good point, it's only money. :) And for the impact on sound effects, it's not that expensive.
  18. From a practical viewpoint, the 3" of extra wheelbase and thinner front seats should really improve back seat legroom. From a drivers standpoint on the IS350, the 8 speed (from IS-F) should be biggest drivetrain improvement. I like the look. For those that feel the grill is a bit too much, darker colors will tone that down, it looks great in the dark metallic gray colors IMO.
  19. Good advice, thanks. Funny, but my wife said that the first week. And my gas mileage was temporarily down 10% because I was operating at higher revs with heavier foot for a couple of weeks.
  20. Wow, 5WHP, now there's a guarantee that will never be followed-up on. Too small to notice or feel, too small of a difference when compared to production variations of the stock ISx50 engines, a guarantee a MBA can love because potential liability is $0.
  21. I like it. IMHO, I expect it will look even better in person. The basic proportions and sleek roofline are similar to current IS, but Lexus is being unusually brave with the 2014 in a class of cars that tends to be very conservative. I would buy one, especially if a different engine is offered that steps up above the very good and current 3.5L (I don't expect to see the -F V8 return).
  22. What are the personalized settings that dealer can change (besides DRL's on US cars only)?
