  1. Not surprising. Lexus and Mercedes (in that order) is what I would expect for retirees choice of premium car. btw - Interesting article, thanks.
  2. The reviews are hitting the press now. NX is Lexus's first attempt at a turbo 4, it's expected as the entry level engine today. The real proof of NX success will be to see if can outsell Audi Q5. IMHO, I think it has a chance.
  3. I had a CLA250 on order, cancelled it 2 weeks ago. 3 - 4 month wait.
  4. I read the new Lexus turbo 4 banger in the NX crossover will have both direct injection and port injection (like the IS350 V6), kind of interesting...
  5. I'm kind of digging in. Those seats are wild, like nothing I've seen before. I hope they breath on the 3.5L V6 and get the horsepower up a touch over 306hp.... My suspicion is the pictures don't do this beast justice. I think it probably looks better and more sinister in the flesh. Truly competition for 4 series and A5 types, and Mercedes should have a new C-coupe to replace current one in a couple of years.
  6. Rattle can black would be an improvement. I've seen old VW bugs done that way.

  8. So we are now saying minor changes (like different piston rings) were made. Probably driving technique, oil type/quality, oil change frequency, and high detergent gasoline use makes some difference. Note: Its not hard to find IS250's with over 200K miles that run fine.
  9. So many problems with this car? I only see one topic and/or problem here w/C250, carbon build up problem.

  12. Ok some minor changes like revised piston rings. Yes probably 2.5 V6 engine is nearing EOL for Lexus, (likely tb replaced by turbo DI 4), so redesign not justified.

  16. Yes, eventually and the headlights are probably the biggest drain on battery. But that's why we have post #1 and post #2 above. The 3rd position is frequently used because you can access certain things that 2nd position cannot.
  17. So what am I missing here?... Is this a manual in traditional sense? Or will it have paddle shifters only and have no clutch pedal (not that it wouldn't be fun)?
  18. I think it makes sense. She is listening to stereo, and in 3rd position on keyless start (1=off, 2=accessory, 3=Start, in which only starts if brake pedal is depressed at same time. There's a tendency to use #3 as an "accessory mode", because door chimes, etc. are silent, which is what I think is happening. Engine is not running while detailing.
  19. 08 Mercedes C300 Sport (128K miles) was replaced this week by a 2013 C250 Sport w/Sport Package PLUS (CPO w/13K miles). Still checking it out, I will drive it more next week hopefully.
  20. Yes, sounds like you have the headlight switch (on turn signal stalk) in the AUTO position. I usually leave mine in OFF position since I rarely drive this car at night, which will leave the lights off regardless of surround lighting. The Lexus Service department does this during service visits too, they don't want the lights on while inside the service building.
  21. Let's see if the smart SA knows if any changes were made to later model IS250 D.I. engines....
  22. Yes, it's specific tire that make a big difference (brand and model/type) in terms of ride quality and quietness. And some tires become noisy quicker with wear than others, another thing to watch for in reviews (such as Tire Rack reviews). The dealership is not being unreasonable in refusing to swap 19's for 18's at no charge, it's not realistic to expect it after the sale and after use.
  23. IMHO, the ride difference is minor, even though I've only driven the current gen RX w/19's and found the ride quality to be fine on bumpy roads. These are not extremely low profile high speed rated summer tires as found on performance sedans or sports cars. Changing to 18's won't have as much impact as might be expected. Check tire pressures first (cold) to see that they are at spec. Last resort is selecting another 19" tire that has reviews indicating better ride quality than current tires.
  24. It's truly a race now, with all 3 in serious contention (US market).
