  1. Yes, I remember them starting to talk this way a couple of years ago at the Pebble Beach, CA showing of the new GS350. And gradually the better products started trickling out. I do like the direction Lexus is going, they need to stick with it. A lot more work to do. For example the 3.5L 306 hp engine is a great engine and certainly competitive, but largely unchanged since 2006, It's about time they worked on this engine a bit for another 10% more power just to get more of an edge in this premium car business.
  2. Good info. Should I carry a rubber mallet in trunk (just kidding) ?... Certainly I don't wont to run the tank nearly empty, and I use only Chervron premium gasoline, so no problem so far.
  3. No common or high incidence problems really. Lots of recalls, so if buying a gen 2 IS350, make sure no open recalls on selected car. Depending on offsets, you can run 275/30/19 rears.
  4. Yes, really a first for Lexus for an SUV offering. Easily as attractive as stylish Macan, Q5, GLA, X3, CX-5 SUVs. About time both from a style standpoint and size (compact) standpoint. No excuses here.
  5. Saw it last night, I am willing to speculate that this will be a winner for Lexus.
  6. $3.299 today for Chevron regular ($0.15 uplift for premium).
  7. $3.359 for Chevron regular for a couple days now.
  8. Agreed, the lower the better for used cars. I bought my Lexus IS350 as 1.5 year old CPO car, like new. I'm also ready for the opportunities that come with lower used car prices.
  9. Yes, I tend to sell my best cars and trade my crappier cars because of the exact reason you mentioned including "My point is that it seems to do little good to keep a car in spotless condition when it won't make a difference at sales time". I have access here to a very good boutique high end used car dealership for selling, they will do it for $2000+ commission (pre-negotiated) and display car indoors (properly insured too). The goal here is to sell for private seller retail price (not bloated dealership retail price) and still clear considerably more than trade-in offered by dealerships even after paying the pre-negotiated commission. This is a great way to sell only cars with moderate mileage in very good to excellent condition, preferably premium cars (other non-premium brands can be sold that way if they are nice). I sold my last Porsche Boxster that way with good results and no hassle.
  10. Not worried about it is my opinion. The cars most impacted by it will be the usual suspects (domestic brands, models with heavy sales into rental car fleets, etc.) where resale value is already below average. Desirable vehicles will always maintain decent resale value. Resale value is an important consideration when looking at total cost of ownership.
  11. Note: I think current RX bodystyle began with model year 2010. Not that I find RX to be very attractive, but the typical buyers of this very successful midsized crossover SUV don't seem to mind. Hybrids are very important to Lexus in order to meet CAFE requirements. I think NX might be the first good-looking SUV from Lexus, but I need to see it in the flesh to know for sure.
  12. I don't know, but your sig says you have a 350, which isn't covered by the CSP. Yes, obviously.
  13. Especially in states where posted, sad.
  14. Lane discipline in the US is pathetic in general on multilane freeways. Most Americans seem to be unfamiliar with the concept of slower traffic keeping to the right.
  15. Club Lexus had a "LexFather" but he was essentially deleted...
  16. Good to know. At least this particular recall doesn't impact my 07 IS350. I've been through plenty of recalls and my dealership has been very easy to deal with during each one.
  17. Continental DWS ExtremeContact (all season), I ran them on a Mercedes C300 with very good results. Low noise levels, good wear, good handling, nice comfort.
  18. I haven't been in Idaho for decades, so I can't say I've experienced the problem...
  19. No change today (Tuesday 10/14) at my local Chevron station in northern CA/south bay area.
  20. Of all the premium cars available today, Lexus brand is top choice for those that prioritize longevity and reliability. Some Mercedes models also have good durability too, still second to Lexus. 150K, no prob. Keep the IS350, the latest versions w/3.5L are nice but have same power output.
  21. $3.429 for regular Monday morning at Chevron station here (and the usual $0.20 uplift for premium grade).
