  1. I would say an 05 or 06, most of the bugs worked out by than.
  2. Could get a rough idea with a point and shoot infared temp probe at the in and out lines.
  3. Also if you look at breakdown temps, when the fluid approaches 190 degrees the life span of the fluid is decreased. I agee 155 degrees is the magical running temp....
  4. There are two speed sensors. Some have swapped them and the symptons changed. They are located on the top of tranny under the air box area. here is a thread on the other site that shows pictures of the sensors: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/show...=speed+sensors
  5. The steering is one complete assembly (steering rack). I would try a fluid change first....cheap and worth the try.
  6. Could be your Oil control valve is failing....This valve controls the timing on the camshaft by oil pressure. I hope you dont have sludge.... I would pull the front valve cover and take a look. The oil control valve is located on the drivers side of the engine on the end of the cylinder head. The valves are circled in black on the pinkish picture. The open valve cover is an example of sludge engine after scooping out a coffee can worth of gel.....
  7. I agree no flush....Drain and fill only, too many cases of failure after a flush....
  8. You may have a bad air/fuel sensor (they look like O2 sensors, but they are not the same. The 1150 codes indicates a bad heater in the one fuel sensor. They are located on the exhaust manifolds on the front and rear of the engine. If you replace them use original equipment only, as the aftermarket ones dont seem to always work...Search this site for venders that sell them cheaper, some have gotten them for around $135 apiece.
  9. You could try Club Lexus....
  10. Make sure you change the front seal on the tranny, would be a bummer to swap it out and have it leak, like my neighbor did on his highlander. By the way we did a engine rebuild, same crap of removing the engine and unhooking tranny. Good luck
  11. Could be the throttle position sensor on the intake manifold. It is either gummed up, or needs replacement Here is a part cost. 1120 or 1121 has to do with throttle position sensor or gas pedal position. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...playCatalogid=0
  12. probably the ML......
  13. Cindys300 thankyou for your input, you re enforce what I found...here is the weak link:
  14. Its going to be awfully hard to trade a car that doesnt run....
  15. the only thing I can think of there is the starter. If it is not retracting properly it could make noise on the flywheel teeth.....
  16. You need to have the codes cleared again, and then checked when the light comes back on. Did you use Original equipment or aftermarket for the O2 sensor. Some have used aftermarket with poor results. Highly suggest using The original equipment sensors....
  17. Do you have any check engine lights on? You may very well have joined the ranks of tranny failures...Good luck.
  18. If it was tranny fluid the first time it could have been the torque converter seal. The rear main on the engine would have created the engine oil leak.
  19. Try this thread: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-g...eplacement.html by the way I did it from the top and used a 2 inch extension, seems the perfect length. Good luck
  20. I had the same problem on my RX300 (1999) and it turned out to be a leak between the intake manifold and the cylinder heads. I had to remove the intake manifold to resolve it. The pink dried material was hard to locate on the intake manifold as it is buried on the 1MZE engine. I am not sure on your LS... good luck.
  21. just wanted to tell you, great job. I still want to move cooler to the front of the car, The cooling in the wheel well sucks...
  22. The code 1354 is probably the VVTI timing off. My neigbor experienced this with a sludged engine. The cam VVTI gear assembly was damaged, and he ended up rebuilding the engine, however the code came back, and we deteremined that the cam shaft gear that varies the timing was bad. We tried to clean it, we took it apart but there are no serviceable parts. Replaced the timing gear (vvti) and problem was fixed. I hope you are not using oil, or have signs of blue smoke. I would pull the valve cover and see if you have sludge....if so pull the oil pan and see if the oil pickup tube is clogged. Good luck Unfortunately your warranty expired.... 8years 120days on sludged engines.... here is a picture of the sludged engine under the valve cover after scrapping out a coffee can worth of gunk...
  23. Wow the front looks a lot cleaner than The Tundra/Sequoia one I did. Looks like it is easier........ Helps not have that fan bracket over everything on that engine.

I just watched the fox special with the destruction in time. God those poor people. Thank God we as a nation did something and responded. At least we had a backbone for once. Fighting the terrorist is a huge bill to order, I pray for all of the victims and the Soldiers and Sailers that make sacrifices everyday.
  25. your 2005 has a timing belt.....(RX330) And as for replacement, yes, 100k miles would be fine, some have even gone further, but dont risk it. You might check an independent or Toyota dealership for a cheaper price.
