  1. I would suggest only getting the extended warranty from your Lexus dealer........very soon! Here are some FAQ's for the Lexus warranty> http://www.lexusfinancial.com/consumer/lfs...xtendedwarranty
  2. The charcoal canister is a storage device in the evaporative emissions control system. It is a small cylindrical or rectangular container that contains activated charcoal particles. The charcoal traps gasoline vapors from the fuel tank. Later, the vapors are purged and drawn into the engine when the vehicle is being driven. This does not have anything to do with fuel economy.
  3. I suggest that you only get the Genuine Lexus Extended Warranty, and forget about web deals!
  4. OK, if you choose to re-program your door locks yourself, here is the procedure as taken out of the Owners Manual:
  5. To have the programming changed so all doors unlock when the ignition is off can be changed by your Lexus dealer. The best and most accurate way to check your gas mileage is to fill your tank, than drive untill your tank is about ¼ full, than refill, preferably at the same pump you originally used. Divide the mileage by how many gallons it takes to fill it up again. Using the trip computer is not the most accurate way of determining your mileage.
  6. Great.........enjoy it, but stop by here and tell us their response to your question. I'm sure they'll tell you the same thing as we did here. One other thing..........don't bend over after you hear their answers.....you might be in for a very painful shock. LOL
  7. OK then.........No free dinner for you at Mortons, but I'll still take Carla.........she's much prettier than you. LOL :)
  8. New member or old member, that's MY OPINION whether you like it or not. Don't be sooo sensitive because somebody doesn't agree with what you're contemplating! :whistles:
  9. Maybe this can explain it better than me.>>http://cd-burning-software-review.toptenre...file-types.html
  10. OK......here's your answer! You actually burned in an Audio CD, NOT an MP3 CD......and that's why it plays in your car. :whistles:
  11. OK then.....it'll have to be Mortons Steakhouse in Bethesda. Is that better?
  12. Shucks! I didn't know that......so McDonalds it is. :)
  13. As always, after buying a new Lexus I used the recommended octane(91) for a few months and then reduced the octane to 87. I haven't felt any reduction in power or gas mileage with the lower octane. Also, I have never noticed any transmission idiosyncrasies. I'm sure that some people will claim that the only way to go is with the higher octane, but If I felt any reduction in efficiency, I would once again go back to using the higher octane. Here's the page from the '07 Owners Manual
  14. Of course I tried playing a disc burned to an MP3 format and it didn't play! Guaranteed, you didn't burn your discs to an MP3 format and that's why it plays. FYI, I took the MP3 disc out of my car and put it into my neighbors '06 LS430.......and ya know what? It didn't play! :whistles: I think you should ask somebody knowledgeable in your Lexus service department, and I betcha you'll get the same answer. If I'm wrong, I'll take you out to dinner at the JW Steakhouse-Marriott......I'm sure you know where that is. LOL
  15. As you know, I owned a 2003 ES300 with the Mark Levinson sound system and it would NOT read a disc with MP3 recorded content! In fact I looked at the '03 Owners Manual and it didn't mention the ability to play this type of disc at all! My ES350 Owners Manual on the other hand has many pages devoted to the CD player when playing MP3 discs. When I play an MP3 disc in my '07 I get all the information on the NAV screen, such as, name of the tune, performer, running time, folder allocation, etc. One of the MP3 discs that I recorded had about 168 tracks, which would actually play for about 8 hours. I also decided to call the audio maven from Bay Ridge Lexus to ask him about playing MP3's on an '03 ES300, and his answer was unequivically NO. He furthermore told me, like I said in a former post that the circuitry and player was not designed to play MP3's! So, I therefore stick to what I said in my above post. <_< P.S. The compression scheme circuitry for MP3's is NOT included in the the Mark Levinson sound system in 2003 ES's.........so I don't know what you're talking about??
  16. They don't even have a pause button when playing CD's. :chairshot:
  17. Great! Good luck with your new car.....and welcome to the club. :)
  18. To be picky- The U.S. Department of Energy claims the 2006 national average is 12K miles, not 15K. :)
  19. SW, I guess you didn't read the original posters question since he didn't mention anything about a '93! reikiwes, The answer to your question is, NO.....you cannot play MP3 CD's on any of the 2003 ES300 sound systems. The ability to play MP3 CD's started with the '07 ES350's. P.S. The CD player itself in the 2003 ES300 is not capable of playing MP3 CD's, and the sound systems circuitry is not setup to decode this format.
  20. I hope you realize that once you have different size front and rear tires you can no longer rotate the tires properly! Also, this type of setup will really mess up the suspension geometry that was designed for this car. If you really find it necessary to play around, then why don't you lower the whole car, with possibly larger tires? I think what you're trying to do is not feasible.......even though you feel it looks, "sexxxy". A dumb idea......in my estimation. :whistles:
  21. The 7.1 disc has to stay in your '08 IS, since that's what the Nav system reads the information from. It's not like installing a new program in your computer. From my understanding, if you try the newer disc in the '07 IS and than remove it and try to put back the 6.1 disc, it won't work anymore! Than you'll have to purchase a 7.1 disc for about $300. Good thought though. :cries:
  22. Please keep us posted......I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like an answer to how all these problems are resolved.
  23. That doesn't sound normal. Bring the car back to your dealer and let them check it out.
  24. I've been using a Verizon LG VX8300 phone for over a year. I have NO time delay, and the audio quality is excellent on both ends. I have the ML sound system in my ES350, but I don't think that should make a difference in the quality of the bluetooth reception though. I think that Verizon upgraded the LG VX8300 to the VX8350 in your area(Baltimore). The specifications seem almost identical on both of these phones.
