  1. Major wierd! Let us know when we should call Orkin for the Plague of Locust.
  2. Glad to hear your alright!! My brother lives in Richmond, Va, 23 miles from the epicenter. He said it lasted about 30 to 40 seconds. The building was moving, the parking lot was moving and the trees were moving. It was quite a strange feeling he said. No damage to speak of. Sounds like all of you had quite an experience.
  3. Not sure if the 08' RX400h came with the Lexus Enform product or not. My 2010 ES350 does have it and it includes tracking in the event the car is stolen. Don't know if the Enform system can be installed in the RX if it did not come as original equipment. (Have your children been bad boys and girls)..LOL!!
  4. e-bay is a good place to try. Also, you can contact Sewell Lexus at Sewell.com for parts. Mention your a LOC member and they will give you a discount. They have very good prices compared to most dealers. You can also try a wrecker yard. Welcome to LOC.
  5. Since it is out of warranty, and you want it working, your only alternative is to repair it or buy a replacement. "dcfish" on this board is our authorized Lexus audio vendor. He may be able to find you a replacement system or specific component,
  6. Hi Cindy, Checking the fuses was the right thing to do. Any time a system loses all sound you think of the amplifier. But, the fact that it was an intermittent problem means that it could be something as simple as a loose connection or connector. As you already know, since the head unit display still works there is still power to it so there might be a loss of power to another part of the system. Hence, why the CD won't eject. Just a wild guess. I would take it to the dealer an have it checked out. A "run of the mill" car audio shop and a ML sound system don't mix in my opinion. Good luck. Let us know what you end up doing. Paul As a follow-up; I spoke to my dealer re your problem and their opinion was that the most likely culprit is the radio or head unit as it is called. Not the amplifier.
  7. Welcome to the LOC. Sounds like your experience is about normal. Lets hope they can some how come up with a software upgrade.
  8. Article with specific details and descriptions of new GS features. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/18/2013-lexus-gs350/
  9. If you want to get an ear full on this subject, do a search of the forums and you'll find that your situation is not uncommon. The navigation function is good on the ES but almost everyone complains about the poor performance of the voice recognition system. Frequently it misunderstands your commands or does a totally different function than the command you said. In my ES, once in a while I will say "Lower Temperature". The voice recognition will come back with something like "Destination". It is simply not a very good voice recognition program. If your dealer tells you they haven't had any problems with the nav system their probably right. If they say they haven't had any problems with voice recognition their fibbing. Don't know of anything to offer you that will help resolve your issue. Do the search and learn more about the problem.
  10. I think there is a future for you at the Pentagon. LOL
  11. Have not had that problem on my 2010 ES350 after one year in service. However, based on the system I have on my other car it could be a actuator switch or similar that tells the processor when the trans is in reverse. Or the video card/chip/processor? could be going out. Cameras are pretty darn reliable. Just guesses. Paul
  12. Does the new GS still have the bump out next to your right leg?
  13. Every one has their own preferences; For me, I like it. A little disappointed in the rear treatment, but overall, a good step forward toward a more contemporary look for the whole line. Paul
  14. saw that the gs350 was new for 2013, but didn't see that for the es350 you sure it applies to both? According to what SW has posted before, the coming ES will be the same. Speaking of technological leaps, glad to hear their finaly going to illuminate the Home Link buttons.
  15. The center speaker in the dash is for the navigation voice. If your car doesn't have nav. I don't know if there is a speaker there at all. Yes, the door speakers are 6.5" but require a special bracket to mount an aftermarket speaker because the Lexus speaker has a wierd size magnet and depth. I told you, you wouldn't like my previous answer.
  16. I know your not going to like this answer, but unfortunately or not, riping and replacing speakers is not a good idea. You'll end up with a really unbalanced mess and a disappointing end result. The Lexus system is made up of a series of matched and balanced crossovers and specific impedance speakers that are in turn, married to a matched amp. When you stick in a speaker willy-nilly it will not match that crossover network and sound like crap. That being said, I was able to add a small sub to my 2010 ES in the trunk, with a separate amp to improve the bass line. It really filled out the bottom and made the whole system sound better. Other than that, there is not a car audio shop in my city that will touch a Lexus when it comes to ripping out OEM equipment and putting in after market speakers and crossovers. If you still want to try it, just make sure your new speaker is the same impedance as the OEM so you don't blow the amplifier. Let us know what you do. Paul
  17. Welcome as well to the LOC! Sounds like your putting a lot of TLC into your new addition. Have fun. Paul
  18. Thanks for letting us know how it turned out. Hope it stays working.
  19. News of a F Sport option for the 2012 CT200h!! http://www.autoblog.com/2011/08/15/2012-lexus-ct-200h-gets-optional-f-sport-package/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29
  20. Hello Tex, Clearing your memory is a little problematic. It is designed to simply retain one setting at a time and not to clear one before a new one is entered. An idea to try is pulling the fuse that controls that circuit for five minutes or so and see if that will clear the chip. Otherwise, a more extreme measure would be to disconnect the cars battery and let it rest for five or ten minutes. THAT will definitely clear the memory and all of your other settings in the car as well. That said, I'm doubtful that is going to solve your problem. Obviously the WD-40 was not a good idea. I would urge you to take it to a dealer and have them take a look at it, since if it didn't have a problem before it does now. Paul
  21. I have been involved in music all my life, and I enjoy many types/styles of it. But, when I'm in the car for some yet unknown reason I stick with Rock, Jazz, and NPR. With Rock, I'm and old man. It's 60's, 70's and 80's, and funk, R&B. With Jazz it's mostly small group, trio, small big band style. NPR, Science Friday, All Things Considered.
  22. Sunroof not opening...is that a separate problem from the other, or is it part of the alarm sounding issue? Have you checked the fuse for the Sunroof. On the first problem, when you say six "alarms" sound, are they the usual ding ding sound or something else. When you turn the key to on are you starting the car as well or just using the accessories? Is this a suddenly new problem or has it done it for quite a while? Thanks. I think the alarms and sunroof are related; they occurred both recently and together. If you start the car, it will be have the same way, but you only have to turn the key to "on" position to get this to happen. I am not that familiar with the 94' LS400 but I do know that on the ES330 and ES350, when you turn the key to off, and open the door, if the sunroof is open the chime will ding reminding you to close the sunroof. Now, in your situation, the roof will not open. If it will not open in any situation, i.e., key on, engine running, sunroof switch in open or close position ( no movement or sound at all), then you have a bigger problem. With the sunroof it could be a bad switch, bad motor, blown fuse to start. Right now I would concentrate on trying to determine if there is any power getting to the sunroof. Thats about as much as I can offer.
  23. You say you just bought the car two weeks ago. Do you know any of it's history, last tune-up, how new the tires are; miles on them. IMO, start with the basics if the car is new to you. How many miles on it? Does it need plugs, air filter, etc. Unless you bought it Certified, (not sure you have that program in Canada) It could need several things or a diagnostic run down. My 2010 gets 19.1 to 19.4 mpg pretty regularly around the city. Highway is around 28 mpg. Welcome to the LOC. Lets us know how you come out.
