  1. He use a three-dimensional scanner to scan the part of the key shell where the screw hole is located. From the scanner he gets a Computer Aided Drawing (CAD). He feeds the CAD dimensions into the three-dimensional printer -- it looks like monofilament fishing line being fed into the printer instead of ink. It literally prints a three-dimensional object that was almost identical to the original key case shell. It is all black and does not have the nice gold Lexus "L". If I needed that, I would paid $300 to the dealer:)
  2. The plastic of my key case broke where the screw fits to hold the battery compartment. The key works fine so all I need is the case -- I contacted a clever guy at MAKEXYZ -- he has a 3D printer . He scanned my good key and reproduced the shell. I had to drill the hole but it works fine now. Look for a guy named Steven Furick on MAKEXYZ -- he is in Alpharetta GA -- he has the shell scan in his computer.
  3. Sunroof not opening...is that a separate problem from the other, or is it part of the alarm sounding issue? Have you checked the fuse for the Sunroof. On the first problem, when you say six "alarms" sound, are they the usual ding ding sound or something else. When you turn the key to on are you starting the car as well or just using the accessories? Is this a suddenly new problem or has it done it for quite a while? Thanks. I think the alarms and sunroof are related; they occurred both recently and together. If you start the car, it will be have the same way, but you only have to turn the key to "on" position to get this to happen. I am not that familiar with the 94' LS400 but I do know that on the ES330 and ES350, when you turn the key to off, and open the door, if the sunroof is open the chime will ding reminding you to close the sunroof. Now, in your situation, the roof will not open. If it will not open in any situation, i.e., key on, engine running, sunroof switch in open or close position ( no movement or sound at all), then you have a bigger problem. With the sunroof it could be a bad switch, bad motor, blown fuse to start. Right now I would concentrate on trying to determine if there is any power getting to the sunroof. Thats about as much as I can offer. Much obliged. BW

  6. Insert ignition key and turn to "On" position turn key off and remove key open door, then six alarms sound sunroof does not open?
  7. I had to reply to this one as I just fixed this same problem yesterday -- refer to "Instrument cluster clock/climate control Dash light issues" above and go to page 17 for post by Rice4eveR. Looks strange but he nails the issue -- blinking instrument panel lights and unresponsive gas guage result from three bad capacitors on the circuit boards behind the instrument panel. I ordered the three capacitors just as Rice4Ever described from Fry electronics and took the penel to a local TV repair guy. He did a beautiful job soldering them in and fixed the ribon cable I ripped in the process of extraction! When I put everything back together last night, I saw fuel guage read 3/4 full for the first time in 3 years! Good luck with your fix. Somebody give Rice4Ever a beer! Oh, by the way, total cost of fix was $30.00 ($25 for solder job and $5 for the capacitors!
