  1. Hi "gameday" and welcome to the LOC. There is a lot of information in our search data bank about this topic. Just go to "Search" at the top of the page and start your search. There are other companies besides Lexus who use the lock-out feature when in motion. Within the next few years it is my understanding that the feds will mandate all manufactuers comply.
  2. I've always wanted to say this and be able to really mean it.......this is not rocket science!! This topic has been the root of many robust discussions over the years. And I do mean years. No one will ever convince the other of their belief, but people do learn a great deal about fuels, combustion, power transfer from octane and so on. My caution, if you wish to maintain your warranty, is to simply follow your owners manual. p.s. The guidlines of the LOC specify discussions that are without derogatory language, ethnic slurs, inflamatory language or profanity. Please read the guidlines if you have questions. Paul
  3. Hi Cdrice and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Your situation is repeated hundreds of times every day all over the country. Unfortunately, taking the RX in for a look-over before you bought it is the best way to purchase any pre-owned car. A reputable used car dealer should have no problem with this. The rear brakes are usually just the brake pads. If the pads have worn to far they could damage the brake rotors, (which the pads rub against). It doesn't sound like that is the situation here. Yes a trusted, CERTIFIED, technician well familiar with Lexus and Toyota products can do a good job for you and usually at quite a savings. Be sure you ask for references and write out what your history has been so far so they know exactly what their bidding on. Get several quotes. Under penalty of the Lexus Club assasination commitee. please do not take a beatiful Lexus to a Jiffy Lube or other Zip-Zap in and out oil change place or Firestone etc. If you do, our nationwide tracking system will instantly know and your radio will play Barry Manilow all the time at full volume. LOL Hope this is somewhat helpful, Paul
  4. Welcome Vintage to the Club, and congratulations on your new purchase. Your a little braver than I not to take it ou for a test drive, but it worked out. Looked forward to your future post.
  5. I agree. For every city I've been in, Lexus auto's by far out number other luxury vehicles. European, Japenese, or Scandinavian. This comparison, especially MSRP - Lexus against BMW still puts Lexus as America's number one. Where Lexus falls back, has been a lack of more aggresive styling. But 2013 has improved that a lot.
  6. It really is pretty much a moot point. If your lease is for three years as most leases are, Lexus, based upon historical performance, probably wouldn't have an update within those three years anyway.
  7. This Blog claims Audi has/is blowing by BMW as worlds best selling luxury car. .....I take that with a very large grade of salt. In just the last year I've posted articles showing Lexus the number #1 sell luxury car. What does your info. say??? http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/13/audi-threatening-bmw-as-luxury-leader/?icid=maing-grid10%7Chtmlws-main-bb%7Cdl7%7Csec3_lnk1%26pLid%3D204851 Paul
  8. Hi Yuri and welcome. There are dozens of ways to clean or refresh your seats depending on it's current condition and how worn it is. It sounds as though yours is in pretty rough shape. I doubt that you would have much success trading seat covers. First, you have the cut-outs for the switches on the drivers side, secondly, the leather is cut to fit the differant angles for each seat. My personal advice is to take the car to a professional detaier and ask them what they think is your best bet. For ways to clean, go to the search line at the top of the page and look under "cleaning leather seats".
  9. It has always been standard set-up that all Lexus are delivered with "Enform" activated and free for the first year. There after the customer has the option to renew from year to year. It's possible that for some oversight the "Enform" wasn't activated at the factory/dealer.As LexBob sugested, first, go to your dealer (that will be free) or go to Lexus.com, click on "contact us" and either use e-mail or phone. (free too) Paul
  10. Hi Ken. First of all, let me apologize for one of us not responding to your post. Secondly, welcome to the club. In terms of your number length, I have checked my owners manual but I can't find a specific reference to this issue, and I don't use Bluethooth my self. I would check these things: Go to Lexus.com and click on "contact us" and either e-mail or call customer service. Next, You can ask your dealer accessory advisor. Last, go to our search feature and search for blue tooth information with-in the post. Better results than using topic. Paul
  11. I have enjoyed putting my two cent's worth in here from time to time, but I stoped quite awhile a go when, as Steve said, it became a tit for tat. At the end it's been down to logic, and thoughtful reason on one side, and..well..on the other. I would suggest that for the mean time, all of the energy that we've spent on this particular topic be spent on answering those post that no one has responded to yet.
  12. Welcome Allison to the Lexus Owners Club. First question. Where did you find a ES350 with only 2500 miles? Did you mug an old lady? LOL. Seriously, when you fill out your profile when joining it is important to include the model year of you Lexus. We ALWAYS love pics of the new baby and any stories about buying it , salesman funnies etc. Stay in touch with us. Paul
  13. Greetings Uncle Ben, and congratulations on the beautiful new ride. Even though I live in the mid-west and not the land of Polar Bears and permafrost, we do get our share of snow and I use snow tires on my 2010 ES350. My snow tires are Michelin X-Ice ; 17" dia. For summer use I use Michelin Primacy MXV4 and 17" ; and you'll probably find that most late model ES owners use Michlen Primacy. However, since the 2013 is so new there isn't enough info or feed back to know what works the best. Getting back to your reason for being here, lol, IMO, the 17" work great. I'm a little puzzled about your question. You don't really say why it would be so important to have either 17" or 18". One of the basic problems I've found with wider snow tires, is that their larger dimension throws more snow up into the wheel well, making it more difficult to steer and limiting the ability of the treads and lugs to clear themselves of snow before the next revolution of the tire. I would stay with the 17". It also saves you from buying another set of rims. Paul
  14. Hi Domane and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club.. I'm going to suggest you go to the "Car care and Detailing" forum towards the end of the Forums page. There, you will find threads on all types of detailing including leather seats. You will find there is no aggrement on no one perfect way to go about it. Also, please do a search through our database and you will probably find a lot of information possible.I will also forward your post to anoother member of the club who is an expert is this field. If he has time away from work and obligation, he may be able to get back to you http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=73733. Let us know how you do, Paul
  15. Hi Field Marahall and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. From the data I retrieved from our search data base, it apppears your not alone. Their seems to be no lack of complaints regarding the issues you mentioned on the recent model GX. Here is a link to those threads in the search base or you to use. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&section=search&do=search&fromsearch=1 Go to "Lexus.com" and either e-mail or call them about them about your problem. Telll them you want to bump up your problem to the area tech field rep and that your also going to talk with your dealers General Manager, an important step. I know the Head lights can be adjuusted , I had mine realinged. Let us know what comes up. Paul
  16. Hi and welcome to the LOC. Your request wil be VERY difficult if not immpossible to complete unforunately. Only 150 LFA's were alocated for the USA last year, and I imagine that number won't be much differen't for 2012. Additionally, there are only a hand full of dealers in the entire US who can actually get one. Lastly, at $400,000, people don't let to many spare keys float around. Good luck though, Paul
  17. I don't think you mentioned the model year of the LS430. So I went to Kelly Blue Book and assumed it was a 2002 with 70,000 miles, and in excellent condition, with full features. For the second valuation, I assumed it to be in only good condition, and being negotiating with a private party. 1.2002 LS430 - 70,000k....Retail value in excellent condition: $24,181 2. 2002 LS430 70,000k Private Party in Good condition: $20,981 Paul
  18. I've never seen an overview this detailed and complete when covering a new model year introduction. It begins with 1990, and the start of the race between The Nissan Q45 and the Lexus ultimate first entry into the luxury market with the LS. It covers completely all the new changes in the 2013, and the items that stayed the same but maybe should have changed. It also goes over the new accessories and options being offered. Take a few minutes and bring yourself up to date on this top Lexus ultimate market leader. Paul http://www.autoblog.com/2012/08/10/2013-lexus-ls-first-drive-review-video/
  19. Welcome to the LOC. If memory serves me,my ES330-2005 had the aux jack inside the the center console. However, I also remember having to use a cassete type adapter for some types of input sources. I'm sorry my memory isn't better on this. Just ask a dealer or a reputable auto sound shop. Let us know how you come out. Paul
  20. I have no knowledge of the ES300, and since you didn't include the model year of your ES it makes it even harder. My guess would be that there must be some sort of themostat that regulates the level of off/on of the heating elements, and it has failed and the circuit is now locked in a constant heating mode. Again, just a guess. Paul
  21. Welcome Peter and don't worry about your English. Most of us can't speak it either! Let us know what problems your having and we'll try to help. Paul
  22. Hi JR and welcome to the LOC. Your right, you are not the only one this has happened to ,and not the only model year this has happened to. As you have probably discovered by searching our data search base, some people have found the specific explanation for why this happens. I would tell the dealer that you want to talk with both the Lexus Regional Technical Advisor and the General Manager. If you get no satisfaction from that, tell them your next call is the State Attorney General Consummer Affairs division. You are in the right. Paul hemimom, on 13 November 2011 - 08:56 AM, said: Yesterday 11/12/2011, we were driving along an interstate at 65 mph in 55 degree weather when our RX350 sunroof suddenly exploded. We were in a fairly rural area of the highway and at first thought we had been hit by a shotgun blast. There were no other cars nearby and we were not under any bridges. We immediately pulled the sun shield because although the roof was still together, tiny crumbs of glass were falling all over us. When we stopped the car, we realized that the roof was not pushed in as if something fell on it, but bowed out from internal pressure. We arrived home and realized the enter roof was shattered into tiny crumbs with a small hole blown in the middle. We had to take the car a couple of miles yet and by the time we got back the second time, the cracks had lifted and a 4x6 inch hole had appeared. We called Lexus and had it towed to the dealership immediately. Wonder if anyone else has had this problem. Bringing loaner tomorrow will wait and see about the bill -- car is still under warranty. Also what do people do about the inconvenient lack of ports in the front seating area of the car. You have to remove the console box to switch or add any devices. Highly inconvenient -- will definitely prevent us from having another RX if they don't fix this problem. It sounds like you were incredibly lucky not to have been injured in some way. Did the whole section of moon roof glass blow off all at once or did it shatter into pieces and break away?
  23. The second word of your first sentence says it all. I ASSUMED. Everybody in the nation assumes they know the problem AND the answer, based on assumption's from a choking level of special interest groups. And when you assume someone else's living status based on nothing more than media generalizations about a large geographic area, you are likely to be doing this with other situations such as all people qualifying for food stamps are lazy.
  24. Welcome! 1. Will it always bug you?...demand a new one,and just be patient enoungh to wait until it comes in. 2. If you'll eventually forget about it, demand a discount or that they re-paint the hood. When your paying this kind of money your paying for the best and that is exactly what they advertise. It is also under warrannty from the minute you sign that aggrement. Let us know how things turn out. Paul
  25. Rumor has it that Lexus may be bringing out the 2014 IS-F with a Twin Turbo-V8 collaberated from BMW. (remember the new workin/development aggrement between Toyota and BMW. Click on the link below from "Auto Blog" and scroll to Rumor. http://www.autoblog.com/
