  1. Curious about your praise of the ipod. I have a 2010 and when ever scrolling down the various artists or songs, it immediately plays what ever is at the top of the list, whether you want it too or not. Somewhat frustating. Others have complained about the same thing. Has Lexus solved this glitch yet? K C DIA: Curious where you found your clip of Bogart. Looks great! Paul
  2. Follow up: I stoped at my Lexus dealer this afternoon and spoke with my service advisor, who is also a personal friend. I explained your situation and neither she nor any of the techs in the reception drive area could figure out what could be wrong. It is a true mystery!! Hope you find the answer and when you do, please post your results. Paul
  3. I'm sorry but with my limited knowledge I can't guess at what is wrong with the system. If the other buttons on the remote fob's work, then the wireless receiver is working. If the interior trunk release is working, then the trunk latch actuator/release is working. Unless there is a totally seperate circuit for just the remote fob trunk release and therefore a bad fuse,I am out of guess's. My suggestion is to call your lexus dealer and ask them.
  4. Does the door unlock/lock function on the remote fob work? Alarm button?
  5. The Gx first service is 5k, Synthetic oil is in it. Yea I waould change it at 1k. The ES is a blended oil. Paul
  6. Steve, I am having the same problem with lock-up except I use AOL 9.5 as my browser. It seems to happen most often when I'm trolling the ES350 section, almost every time I visit there this week. I have to ctrl.-alt.-del. to get out. Sorry to give you another problem. Thank you!! Paul
  7. When will the 2011 be in the showrooms and will the body style still be the same as the current ES line? Thanks Steve.
  8. Thanks for the advice. I don't mean to drag this thread on and on , but if I could ask for a clarification. Living in the midwest, winters can be harsh and when front wheel drive came along it greatly improved the ability to get around in snow. However, I have understood from following post on this forum that true affcinados prefer rear wheel drive as you pointed out re: the LS. Why is that?
  9. Yeah all things created equal, I definitely think the cashmere mats look better when they are clean. What color Lloyd mats did you buy, did you buy the heavyweight ones or the middle ground ones? We have the middle ground ones in the Prius they are still a lot nicer than the Lexus mats... I think about it this way. My '03 was $39,675 in 2003, my '10 was $41,215 in 2010. Thats a difference of $1,540. Not looking at inflation, this car is $1,540 more for: 1. More power...waaay more power. 2. An extra gear in the transmission providing much better fuel economy 3. Backup camera, parking assist 4. Power tilt/telescopic steering wheel 5. Cooled seats 6. Keyless entry & start On top of other little things. Now had I had the opportunity to buy these features for $1,540 in 2003 I would have thought it was an extraordinary value. When you think about the fact that I paid EXACTLY what I paid for the 2003 for this 2010, $35,000 I think its an incredible value... Why thank you. I did consider it, and may still. I have always thought the 07-09 looked better with the spoiler and door moldings, but with the chrome moldings at the base of the doors on the 2010, I don't think the door moldings look right, but the rear spoiler I still like... I bought the medium tan for my wife's car in the thick pile with her initials sewn in.. (she thought the initials were just weird, and why would I order them like that...you just can't get ahead some days.) The mats matched the Volvo's Sandstone interior perfectly. I would recommend the Loyd floor mat product. Your thoughts on the value of your 2010 purchase are more than compelling. In this Global economy and currency market, one would think it improbable that you could purchase a product with more features, better materials and advanced software and enginering for less than the cost of inflation over 7-8 years. I firmly believe that anyone who buys a car as an investment is going to be very suprised, and not in a good way. But your experiance with your 03' shows that if you buy quality in the first place and take care of it you will enjoy the ride. My dilema? If you were doing it again, would you suggest someone buy a used LS460(07) or 2010 ES?
  10. It truly is a lot of car for the money, and the floor mat issue is not unique to Lexus. My wife's S80 Volvo cost more than the Lexus but the floor mats look and feel like they came out of a Ford Pinto. I too replaced them with Loyd's mats. As far as mat color, my ES interior is Cashmere and I'm just used to the light colored floor mats. They are good looking but high maintenance.
  11. Had a 2010 ES350 yesterday (only 900 miles) as a service loaner. It had the same beautiful interior. I was suprised though with the grey floor mats instead of Parchment. How do you like the color contrast Steve?
  12. Been there. I have to look straight ahead as much as possible in order to orient the car an equal distance between the neighboring lines. My guess is a common gradual decline in periphrial vision that we all experiance as the calendar marches' on. Paul
  13. I took the car into the dealer today and had them check the A/C. All components checked out fine, with vent temps at 42 degrees. The tech said that they have been haveing several complaints just like mine over the last week or two. As I mentioned, the weather has been extremely humid and hot and the tech said that the evaporator cannot keep up with the extraction of the moisture from the air in the fresh mode as well as it can in the recirculate mode. He suggested to leave the A/C in Auto position and the car will do the switching between recirc. and fresh automatically to maintain the best comfort level. (I did not know the system did this on it's own?) My loaner for the day was a new (less than 900 miles) 2010 ES350. It too had the same A/C issue. So I guess I'll take the tech advise and hope for drier-cooler weather! Thanks for your help you guys!! I really appreciate it. Paul
  14. I am in Des Moines, IA and it has been very hot and humid. However, this problem has been coming on for three to four weeks and the weather has been varied over that period. When I place the system in the recirculate mode it cools down almost instantly. Would it take out the humidity that fast? Thank you for your reply. Paul
  15. Let me join the others in saying congatulations on a great decision. No matter what color or what price you will obviously enjoy your new baby. Please keep us informed of your experiences as you start to break it in. Paul
  16. Over the past few days the A/C in my 05' ES330 has been puting out warmer air than normal. However, if I put it in the recirculate mode it puts out almost freezeing cold temps. When placed back in normal mode the air returns to a tepid, less than cold air flow. My first thought is low Freon, but how could there be such a cooling differnce in the two settings if the main system is faulty. Any and all opinions are encouraged. Paul
  17. I should have stated that my interior is Cashmere and I do love it; but you pay a price such as in a situation like this. I know from previous post that you have a Black Garnet paint treatment as well. With a black interior, Wow! Saw your post on your hunt for a 2010 w/nav. I will check around here and see if I can get some numbers for you.
  18. OK, here it is. The seat bottom is 12" wide inside the bolsters, and 19 1/2" deep. The picture you referenced looks exactly like the seat cushion I measured. I hope this gets you on your way with your project.
  19. To try and resolve this issue, I have a 05' ES330. I would be happy to take the measurements you are requesting if you or advanced forum members feel they would be close enough to get you what you need. Feed back please. Paul
  20. I found the web site and am ordering the product kit. If it dosen't work I will go ahead and have it re-dyed. At least it gives me something to do?! Thanks Steve for your expert and prompt help. Your the man. (Anyone want to buy a nice black leather jacket....?) Paul
  21. I am not a audio guru, nor do I have a Levinson system, however if you can hear sound/bass coming from the sub then I would not call it blown. Simple things first. If the sub is mounted open in the trunk like on the standard Lexus Premium audio install, check that all the mountings are tight. Also check that the rear deck material is tight and not vibrating. A reach I admit, but there could be a forgein object that has fallen into the top of the cone, in wich case you would have to unmount the speaker and shake it out. Short of this, it may be that the cone is damaged or the coil is. Nothing better than a great sound system and a summer drive in your favorite Lexus.
  22. Another way to state it is that everyone has one of those indicators on their own posts. If you have no warnings the status bar is there anyway. Nothing to fret about. Thank you both for your explanations and quick reply. I really enjoy our forum and try to be a constructive contributer. I appreciate your taking the time to help me out. Here's to enjoyable, reliable, good looking Lexus. Paul
  23. I just noticed there is a label saying Warning on my posting and I don't know what that means??? Have I said or done something wrong? I tried to contact the moderators, but due to the layout issues on my page, I am unable to get to the management link to send an e-mail. I hope I have not broken any rules or offended anyone. If anyone can fill me in I would really appreciate it. Humbley, Paul
  24. The problem is probably not the motors or the mirror swithch, but the possibility that the toggle post in the switch has been put in the center position, thus turning off the automatic up/down function of the outside mirrors.Slide the toggle post to either the left or right and the mirrors should work. It seems highly unlikely that both mirror motors would go out at the same time. I have an 05' with OEM chrome wheels and they have begun to corrode slightly due to the abundance of salt and ice melt we use here during winter driving. Chrome is more sensitive to this corrosive environment than alloy, so I'm pretty sure it is not Lexus fault.
  25. Hi, The drivers side front arm rest on my 05' ES330 has developed a black tinted stain from the resting of my elbow and my black leather jacket. I have tried leather cleaner and even a mild household spray with no results and wonder if the arm rest is coverd with plain old vinyl. Steve,I know your a detailer and I hope you might have a suggestion. I have talked to the detail department at my dealer and they said the leather dye transfer stain from my leather jacket to the arm rest will never come out and must be re-dyed. Thanks anyone for your input. Paul.
