  1. I have two 5" LCD headrest monitors on my 2004 Lexus RX330.  Does anyone know of anything you can put over the monitors (ie. privacy screen) to prevent other motorists from watching my LCD screens?   They have anti-glare privacy filters for computer monitors but do they have anything for LCD headrest monitors?

    Any suggestions?

They sell headrest covers that are made to hide your monitors. Headrest covers are made from cloth or a similar material and just goes over the whole headrest...it's kind of like a sock or dust bag.

  2. i found a car out here in charleston, south carolina, and it seems like a pretty good deal. its a 93 SC400 with 135k miles on it. im getting it for around 5600$ and im really close to buying it. the car drives fine, and everything seems to work, right down to the a/c. the trunk hydraulics dont work, and the hood doesnt quite pop up when you pull the latch, you have to kinda pry it up, but i think that 5600 is a pretty good deal.

well, just want to know if there's anything else i should watch out for. im currently an owner of a 98 GS300, but need a commuter car and just cant get away from the lexus marque. thanks for any help!

also, what are the most cost effective intake/exhaust combo for this car?

The hood has problems popping up? Has it been in any accidents?

  3. Hey everyone.. Im pretty familiar with all of the regular problems associated with the LS 400 (91). But now I have something new wrong with it. Whenever I fill up my car at the pump, the guage doesnt go all the way up. I put premium gas and I do fill it up all the way. This has happened more the once, so I finally decided to post this topic to see if anyone has any advice or recomendations. I'll really appreciate any help. Thanks for looking

Capacitor C142 and C147 on the instrument cluster board. You have to remove the instrument cluster and circuit board and replace those 2 caps. There's a pinned post on how to remove the instrument cluster and board from your vehicle.

  4. Back from my Phoenix trip. No check engine light all the way down there. But right after I got a tank of fuel in Phoenix...the P0420 code has returned. The plan was that if it returned on the trip..I was going to swap out the rear 02's, reset the check engine light and go again. But it was raining and it never let up till almost home. I did clear the code with my scanner in Vegas...and now the code has set again. Perhaps now I will find it. Few other issues with the car also...but I will start another thread for that.

Still thinking this may be fuel related. It's taken a long time to get that code to set again.  I'll be posting back as to what I find.

PS: 26.6 mpg gallon average. Mostly 75 mph. A few 100 mph blasts. No oil consumption.

Is that the only code that is present? Fuel related? How so? Like low or high fuel pressure or do you mean a bad tank of fuel?

  5. Since you have AS you'll need to replace the entire AS strut assembly.  I would say just buy a set of coilovers.  This way you can keep it at roughly stock ride height or you can lower it if you want.

Great advice. Adjustables is how you want to go, it gives you much more flexibility.

  6. I have a manual for a 95, should be similar.  Manual states (if resistance between terminals 1 + 2 of main heated oxygen sensor connector is 5.1 - 6.3 ohms at 68 degrees F) "check and repair harness or connector between main relay and main heated oxygen sensor, main heated oxygen sensor and ECM". From what I gather the ECU talks to the ABS/TRAC CU. If the ECU sees a trouble it's going to signal the ABS/TRAC to turn off. If you're lucky you have a dirty/loose connection.

now that you mention it, the o2 <-> car harness on the passenger side was a !Removed! to unplug when i swapped out sensors. them !Removed! bout to get wd40'ed! :D

    thank you very much!

FYI, just because you have a code for an O2 sensor you shouldn't condem the O2S as your problem. Usually a code related to an O2 sensor is just the computers way of saying "something doesn't make sense". For a 1992 vehicle you're probally not going to get a code if it's emissions related, the "computer" is more concerned looking for problems that could affect driveability. Howcome you replaced your O2S anyways? Did you or your mechanic diagnose and conclude that the O2S was as fault? Just don't rely solely on a code to tell you that your O2S is bad, it takes more then that to determine a malfuntioning sensor... (propane enrichment and a DSO to monitor crosscounts and voltage). As you already know bro, it's not much fun to take the shotgun approach.

  7. lol i wish i had known there wre lexus shocks at autozone because whenever i had asked the guy at pepboy or autozone theyd gimme a look like i was crazy asking them somehting for a lexus lol so i spent  around 230 or so on the OEM shocks there not hard to install my 14 year old son did it for me he does most of the work on my cars due to the fact im so busy

amaisingly he took apart the lexus radio and figured out how to remove it and everythin i was kind of surprised he even got it to worked and changed the bulbs in it because they had blown out

Oh, they're not really Lexus shocks...MightyLifts are universal.

  8. How is your air suspension now? Is it giving you any problems yet?

If it were my car, I would swap out the air suspension for regular gas struts....go with the springs. Your air ride is going to go bad sooner or later, so if you plan on playing with your suspension you might as well take care of it now.

I would love to have air suspension but the cost of replacing it sickens me.
