  1. I just bought a 93 SC400 on Ebay for 10K which was a bold move on my part. It has 60K miles and now I'm looking for a shop manual to do my own repairs. I looked on Ebay for that also and saw a manual on CD for sale. Does anyone have a suggestion for me on what type of shop manual I should buy?

The CD's on Ebay are of poor quality. Try this instead, http://techinfo.lexus.com/. TIS is $10 for a 1 day subsciption and you'll be able to download everything that they have. It's just as good as the actual Lexus shop manuals.

  2. Well, I just purchased a 94 sc 400 for $6500 :D .  It has 131K miles on it, all service records, new paint in 2000, new leather in 2002, high end rims and tires, in very good shape.  I bought this for my son after, no fault of his own, totaled a fully reconditioned 77 Chevy Truck. :o  Ok guys, tell me.  Did I do ok?  :(  I see where some of the needles are dingy.  I've read this fourm over and over and over again and again and again to make sure I was not gonna get screwed.  I know how to fix the needles and guage lighting.  A local dealer wanted $9000 for a 95 with 124K on it.:whistles:  Took it out for a drive and the abs quit working.  They had to get it repaired.  He took off $500 after I requested his best out the door price.  Car was ok.  Paint had dings and some chips.  They had tried to buff it out and it looked horible.  :cries:  Leather was original, not bad, but worn.  My other car is a 96 Seville.  I like high end older cars that last.  My caddie has 156K on it and runs great.  I think that I'm gonna have a hard time getting this baby away from my wife  !!!

Congratulations, that's a great deal. They go for about $8k.

  3. A repair manual right? If you do then start testing all related parts.

Do not have a repair manual is there a place I can get one for my truck?

Try Ebay. You should check out what SKperformance said about the recall first though.

  4. They're right, let your ears tell you what sounds better.

Are you asking about components or coaxials? Both are great speakers but I think the Kappa's highs are brighter...IMO. You should take a look at MB Quart components while you're at it.

Go out speaker shopping someday and bring along a cd you're familiar with, set all the settings on the display HU to flat and pop in your cd...let your ears determine what's best for you.

How much do you have to spend? If you're on a budget then just spend as much money as you can on your front stage and use coaxials for the back as fill. Are you going to have a sub?

  5. ArmyofOne is right, why would you want to reuse an old part? It would be like using compressed air to blow the dirt out of your filthy air filter to reuse it.

If you want to go with OEM parts....Park Place Lexus has a Toyota PCV valve for $7.48, and a Toyota fuel filter for $27.42. No tax and shipping if you order online.

  6. Yes, you could get it at a dealership, or you could just order it online and do it yourself because it's fairly easy. Try http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...m?siteid=213808

I'm not sure how long it'll take on your car but when I did it to mines (LS400), it took me 2 minutes for the PCV and 5 minutes for the fuel filter. The shop will probally charge you $20 to install the fuel filter but I don't know how much the PCV will cost you.

  7. An extremely dirty air filter will cause an increase in CO because there will be a lack of O2 to help oxidize the CO into CO2.

    You're right jgr7, the EPA doesn't give a shtt.

Performance is somewhat compromised because they are trying to meet emission regulations. They have to juggle to keep NOx, HC and CO down and this leads to a slightly less efficient engine (performance wise). If they were able to have it however they wanted, you would see high NOx and high CO in most of our vehicles. They would also just vent all the gases to the atmosphere, instead of directing it back into the combustion process.
