Sony amps are crappy. You could find a better amp for about the same price. The stock speakers isn't going to able to handle the full output of the new amp...you're going to have to keep the power at the same level as the stock amp. I have been using a Halltech Stinger-R intake for many months now. Its oiled filter has more surface area than any other filter on the market (at least for Corvettes). I have had no issues whatsoever. I also have two other vehicles that use K&N filters. Neither have had any drivability problems due to filter oil. They key is to re-oil lightly. It is true that if you over-oil, you will have MAF issues. Fortunately, many MAFs are easily cleaned with contact solvent.

Are you keeping the stock speakers or are you going to upgrade to aftermarket speakers? If you're going to keep the stock speakers then stick with the stock amp. Loud and crisp isn't only about the amp...you have to give your components some of the credit. How much are you looking to spend?

Hahah...I like Alpine HU's, I have an Alpine CDA-7998 HU myself but when you're talking about the best of the best, Nakamichi and Eclipse wins hands down.

SKperformance is right. I didn't think of it that way but the antenna isn't up when it's in cd or tape mode.

Get a dmm and start checking voltage levels, all you need for a remote turn on is 0.5 amps or a little less. Sears has a multimeter on sale for $10.

If you're able to get the wiring schematic for your vehicle then just tap the amp turn on wire into the switched 12v wire behind the HU.

Well do whatever makes you happy RX400h. If you believe that dropping in a K&N will give you substantial gains then do that.

Every company is going to try to sell you into their product regardless of if it works or not. This topic started out as "K&N air filter a good idea in the Rx300?", I'm here trying to word my opinion while trying to keep it Lexus related.

Prior to owning my current vehicle I was heavily involved in the import scene. Trust me, an air filter alone will not do you any good...dyno proven.

If you want to know why it damages MAF sensors then do a search. If you don't care then hey, what can I do about it?

You spliced the remote turn on from your aftermarket amp into the remote turn on to the stock amp? I had a similar problem when I was working on a 97 Prelude. It had something to do with the factory amp so I ran a seperate wire to the aftermarket HU and it went away...in your case you could splice it into the power antenna wire. With the Prelude it was because of the auto sound leveling that caused the crack/pop only when I turned it on or off. BTW, if you haven't thrown in a fuse for the remote turn on then now is the time to do so..drop in a 0.5 amp fuse for that wire.

Was that 15whp dyno proven? You're talking about a Corvette here, aren't those motors already built for perfomance buddy? We're getting a little off track here cause people on this forum are throwing K&N's into their RX's. An RX and a Corvette is in 2 totally different classes.

Yes, the non adjustable's (HP) are stiffer than the Illumina's on the softest setting. Illumina's on the softest setting (1) isn't going to be exactly like a factory ride but it comes pretty close, plus you'll benefit from better handling.

You could set the 5 way adjustables to be real soft you know. With the regular ones you can't dampen the ride. Anways, I like Tokico...I had 5 way adjustables on an Integra that I used to have. They worked real good because sometimes I just wanted a softer ride. Tokico's are known for their quality shocks/struts.
