  1. Did they scrape the carbon deposits off? It might be acting funny because some of the carbon flakes are stuck on the spark plug or something. It's probably better if you take it back to them because they shouldn't have returned the car to you in that condition.
  2. I'm not sure if LS' have brake cooling air ducts but 5-series do.
  3. Ummm okay...I'll go sign up tomorrow.
  4. I'm not positive that cleaning the above parts will bring your car back to 20/mpg but it doesn't hurt to clean it anyways. It's hard to do a remote diagnostic so I'd rather not say. 145 miles to a tank are horrible numbers. Have you checked for fuel leaks yet?
  5. Almost sounds like dyslexic470 :P
  6. Hey, cockroaches are considered delicacies, in some countries. Haha. Japan
  7. Ohhh, real first name? Okay....Just Lazy. LOL
  8. Parking nine cars must suck for you.
  9. I use a Snap-On DVOM but I'm sure that most DVOM's are up to par. To replicate "load"; just turn on the headlights, A/C, radio and put the car in gear.
  10. Why did this turn into a Lexus vs BMW post? I love BMWs. I was looking at '95-01 BMW 740iLs and 540is as well as Lexus LS400s when I ended up with my '96 LS. BMWs have problems? Well, Lexi have problems too. And a lot of the same problems that will happen with ANY car because of miles and age. People talk about BMW electrical issues? How about those 1st gen LS gauges? Or those climate control/stereo LCD screens? BMW suspension issues? How about all of those issues with the LS suspension, PLUS the RIDICULOUS prices to simply buy the parts? BMW engine issues? Not many. BMW transmission issues? Not many. BMWs are awesome cars. I grew up with one, and I could have very easily ended up with one instead of my Lexus. Right on!!
  11. Are you willing/capable of performing any of the above tasks? If you're willing to break a sweat and tackle it yourself then you're going to help your wallet out. If you're willing take it to the dealer then be prepared to bend over and get raped. It seems that a lot of people are facisnated with taking their cars to the dealership, for repairs. Dealership technicians are no better than a good indie auto shop. Trust me, I've seen bonehead diagnostic and attempted repairs done by "qualified" dealership technicians.
  12. Why does everyone think that bimmer's break down all the time? BMW's are actually very reliable cars....I've been through both. I just think that all this talk about bimmers being unreliable is rediculous....stop spreading rumors. Lexus' and bimmer's share similar problems. I used to be an auto technician and honestly, I've worked on more Lexus' than BMW's.
  13. The best restaurants are the "hole in the wall" joints and those places tend not to be very sanitary. Damage
  14. I've been contemplating on buying a Lexus and using it as my beater. :D haha...jk
  15. This board is a lot more active than I thought. I guess it didn't seem too alive because I posted during the holiday months. A BMW is a vehicle that everyone should get to experience owning and driving.
  16. I owned a 92 lex. Should I change my name to 98 BMW?
  17. LOL!! Really guys? Hhahaha. Good money for the shops!
  18. A steam machine works better.
  19. Suspenders
  20. Yes, there's a gasket between the two exhaust flanges. Yes, a slight seperation would cause your car to sound louder. Are you positive that it's leaking there though? It's recommended to replace the exhaust flange bolts but it's not absolutely necessary, though. It takes about 10 minutes to replace that gasket.
  21. Wheel weight is dependant on what you're expecting from your car. I prefer lighter wheels because I actually feel the performance gain and it's not just in my head. Bridestone Pole Positions are a perfect choice, if you're going for an all out performance tire. The tread wear on these tires isn't all that great but traction is always going to be there. They're great tires but I can no longer afford them. LOL My budget has decreased therefore I'm currently sporting Kumho Exsta ASX. I think that they are an all around great handling tire and are definitely a good run for the money.
