13IS250C Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Awful stuff. Higher percentage of ethanol. I wouldn't touch it.
LEX-SV Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 $2.499 today at local Chevron station for regular, with usual 16cents uplift for premium.
VBdenny Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Driving around New Hampshire yesterday I saw regular prices from $2.11 to $2.57. Way way up in the mountains it runs a little more at some places. Average looked about in the $2.30s - $2.30s
1990LS400 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 $1.739 per gallon of regular at Costco in Des Moines, Iowa this morning. $1.689 per gallon of regular at Costco in Lenexa, Kansas this afternoon. The price has been dropping by about 10 cents per gallon every one to two weeks. I remember when regular leaded gasoline typically sold for 19.9 cents per gallon in the late 1950's and early 1960's and sometimes as low as 15 cents per gallon during "gas wars" as they were called when filling stations sold gasoline at or below their cost to "steal" customers from their competitors. And don't forget all the free stuff you got with every fill-up ... glassware ... dishes ... and other crap.. I remember the horror when "Clark Super 100" (leaded, supposedly 100 octane super premium gasoline) topped 30 cents per gallon in the 1960's. NOOOOOOOO!
LEX-SV Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 $2.499 today at local Chevron station for regular, with usual 16cents uplift for premium. Another drop at same Chevron of 5 cents today.
VBdenny Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Ahh 400. You do remember. Think the cheapest I paid was 17.9 in high school.
VBdenny Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Of course there is a definite downside to lower fuel costs and that is a related increase in traffic. There are people who would rather pay more and have less traffic.
LEX-SV Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Around here the increase in traffic is mainly due to strong and growing economy with associated job growth, the cheaper gasoline has much less impact. Of course oil companies and related stock prices have felt negative impact. It will be interesting how much longer gasoline price drops continue.
13IS250C Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I remember it as cheap as $1.18 for premium. Of course, with the hot rods I drove, you needed it that cheap. I must be the oldest one here. :-(
VBdenny Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 $1.18? Can't be the oldest I'll repeat. 17 cents. And 9/10 cent.$0.179

13IS250C Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Oh sorry. That was my blonde coming out. I thought it said $1.79. Teeheehee.
VBdenny Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Count yourself as young. Sometimes the obvious is obscured
