Check Engine And Vsc Lights (Is250 2007)

Recommended Posts

I know there have been many posts on the "check VSC" warning light. But most of them are older and I am hoping I can get some more current insight...

I started and stopped my (2007) IS250 the other day and noticed a shudder. Upon starting it up the next day the car almost stalled and the check VSC, traction control and Engine lights came on. It has been running fine since but the lights still come on.

I am curious if there are any recalls (given all the discussion on this) and what might be causing it. Or more importantly if there are any quick fixes before I shell out to a dealer. It seems pretty hit and miss but any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

UPDATE:

Found this I believe in this forum and it fixed the problem for now... All good!

1) Drive car to full operating temperature. You want to evaluate the difference resetting the computer makes on the response, so you want to leave everything else constant - such as engine temp. Pay attention to any idle vibration you feel in gear.

2) Power off, and remove the negative battery cable (10mm socket required). Leave off for 10 minutes or so. I discharged the system completely by pressing the brake pedal.

3) Reconnect negative battery cable

4) Restart and drive.

Hi I have the same issue just today. My check VCS light came on along with check engine and traction control light when I start driving. I took the car to Pepboys for a engine light check and I receive a code P0303 (cylinder 3 misfire). I'm gonna replace that spark plug and see what happen but if that's the case why would traction control light come on? So Apoc, your car was fine after you turn off them lights? Have you tried a code reader for your lights or anything came up till now?

Aloha. Need some assistance for my 2007 IS350 "Check VSC" with the CEL and TRAC warning lights condition.

I've unplugged the battery for a few minutes to reset the warning lights and these three warning lights were off after starting up the car. Unfortunately these lights came on shortly after driving on the road.

I bought a OBD2 diagnostic reader/tool from NAPA today but I couldn't find the car's connector/port for this OBD2 tool.

Do you know where this connction port is located and could you provide details/pictorial for its location?

Would post the error codes once I get this tool connected.

Much appreciated.

2007 IS250 AWD--original owner 117,000 to date. Only significant repairs--4 CV axles and right front and rear wheel bearings. Have had all the recall work, including the major engine rework at 95,000.

Recently the Check VSC light came on intermittently..with increasing frequency. I read a number of the older posts on this issue and was relatively confident that I could drive it with not major issues when it recently decided to come on in a national forest drive with limited cell reception.

Most recent symptoms were usually that the light came on after I had been driving a while--hot engine. If I stopped, turned it off, waited a couple minutes, then turned it back on, the light would wait a few minutes before it reappeared.

Online posters offered several ideas..the simplest of which was gas cap and have Auto Zone use OBD. The posts said usually the diagnostic comes up with no problem….they were CORRECT. No problem showed, so I bought a $10 gas cap.

That was a couple hundred miles ago, and, fingers crossed, no more light!!

THANKS to all of you for this forum and those posts. I'm a 68 year old female. My dad taught me a little about cars, but no doubt you guys probably saved me some serious money and frustration.
