Brightness Of Center Dash Stack

I got my new 09 250 ( non-navigation) a week ago. I love it. I do have a question . I see that the brightness on the radio/climate control center stack is not too good, especially in the hot desert sun. Is there any way to adjust this, improve this?

Have you turned the brightness control rheostat knob for the dash lights?

I'm assuming that it works like every other Toyota product I've seen.

The brightness control knob only adjusts the tach/speedometer on the dash above the steering column. The LED of the radio readout and climate info is unaffected. Very dim under normal conditins, unreadable in the sun. You'd think someone else would be a bit annoyed with this!

I can't see the center dash stuff in bright sunlight but it's not very often that I need to see it to do anything. I've noticed the same thing in several cars I've owned.

Tint the windows and close the sun-shade for the sunroof.
