schitzo1978
Some members here mentionned that their gas tanks were filled when they brought their cars in for the fuel rail recall. Is this a technical requirement? meaning is that necessary to test the work that was done or was that simply a courtesy. I just picked up my vehicle after leaving it overnight and it appears as though no fuel was added to the tank. I brought it in close to empty as suggested by members here. I was under the impression that they would have to purge all gas from the fuel system in order to be able to complete the work. any advice would be well appreciated. thanks,
LEXUS IS250 AWD
My tank was about half full when I brought it in, when I picked it up it was filled up.
schitzo1978
that doesn't exactly answer my question(s).
bartkat
All I know is they told me to run it low cause they were going to fill it up when they were done. I dunno from technical but they should have filled yours too.
tex2670
Someone on CL posted that they need to drain the gas tank to do the recall. So no--I guess they don't *need* to top it off, but they did for me.
SADDLEBUM
Filled mine too. I didn't ask why. I figured it must have been because I'm a nice guy and a snappy dresser! <G>
countryguy
My tank only had about 1/4 fuel remaining as I had just driven 3 hours to get to the Lexus dealer (there is no dealer where I live). When I picked the car up the tank was full - a very pleasant surprise!
