  1. Hello, Well it seems that i may have nicked the sidewalk (again) but thankfully it's the same wheels as last time (the only time !). I seem to have done quite the damage to the lip of the rim. I'd like to change it out as the rest of the car is totally pristine (clear bra really helps keep it nice). Anyways, I have the 5 spoke 18" staggered rims. The rim which has taken a beating is the rear passenger side. I have just started doing research to try to find one and I have stumbled on these guys http://www.finishlinewheels.com/LEXUS/IS250/2007/ They have my rim in 8.5" (chrome or silver), can anyone tell me the width of the front and rear rims? Also does anyone have any idea if dealer prices are way more or around the same on a single rim? Any recommendations would be most appreciated, I am in Montreal Canada, but will have the Rims shipped to Albany NY, where I have family. thanks, schitzo
  2. thanks ended up finding that in the manual you posted. Any idea why there are two fuses for the same function. One is drivers side and the other passenger. It's way to friggin cold up here to noodle around outside. I'll take it into the dealership. Are fuses covered under warranty? I was under the impression that fuses would be excluded like brakes and bulbs and clutches etc. Thanks again to all for help schitz.
  3. 2 things, are you saying that the drivers and passengers side each have their own fuse...each on their own side of the car ? and 2, i will take it in but could you direct me to where the fuse boxes are situated ? i pulled off the driver side panel (the part the is only exposed once you open the driver door, and clearly there is no fuse box there. I am looking for my manual, seems like the wife put it somewhere and she is out for the rest of the day, thanks again, schitz
  4. would it be visibly apparent if the fuse were pooched? Thanks. Schitz.
  5. Hi I jumped in the car and it was cold today (32f). I flicked the seat heaters all the way to 3 and by the end of my ten minute trip I noticed my bum wasn't toasty warm. Upon further investigation I noticed the little orange light that normally goes on when you turn on the heater/ventillator is not turning on when I switch it on to either cold or warm. Asides from an oil change (done at a Toyota dealership) and new 17 inch rims with winter tires ( as well as having the dealer program the new set of tire pressure sensors), nothing else has been done to the car. Oh yeah I did have the battery chNged in my key fob at the Lexus dealership. Could any of these things have caused the issue? The aux power in my arm rest is fine. Thanks in advance for the help. Schitzo.
  6. Yeah, I walked over to the detailing bays and looked at the towels they wipe every car down with, I'm pretty sure they came with a grit rating on the package... And I'm sure all the people that work in that department graduated from car detailing school and are probably paid top dollar over minimum wage coupled with years of experience flippin burgers and mowing lawns. There's no way on God's green earth would I ever let them touch my car! If you could see the paint finish on my car, and compare it to a car that was "detailed" by a dealer after just 6 months, you would be shocked! :o I had the TSB performed and I went from a TON of dust to absolutley NO DUST WHATSOEVER. I have though noticed that my breaking is not as good as it used to be. I actually think it is quite noticable..the loss in breaking performance.
  7. The best place to buy your IS250 around toronto is ....the USA !
  8. The rear l emblem has 2 little prongs that stick out those fit into two little holes ok the trunk there is no way to get it wrong. The front one doesn't have the prongs but the backing is similar in size and shape to the emblem. I was thinking of getting rid ofthe lexus and is250 but if there are holes I will leave them on. With regard to removing the goop that was left I put on a whole lot of googone. It still took a plastic scraped. Took well over a half hour to get the fgoop off. The googone helped with the last little bits of residual glue on the body, the chunky rubbery stuff isn't removed at all by the solvent. I reapplied several times and let it soak to no avail.
  9. Yeah I try to avoid claiming on insurace. At all costs. Being relatively young I need to do all that I can to keep my premiums down. I will snap a few before and after pics A. In Montreal
  10. Thanks all for the responses, i ended up ordering the 2 emblems directly from my local lexus dealer, about 115$ Canadian for the Pair. Ebay sellers were around 70-80, but i dont want to wait for shipping or have the finish peel and crack off if it's a lower quality item. I will try the goo gone solvent and some elbow grease. I think there may be a little spot on the rear where the screwdriver scraped through the paint down to the bare metal!!!! I guess once I get the adhesive off, i will have to touch up that area before i put on the new emblem (to avoid rust ?). does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks again to all for the advice and comments, its good to know there are good folks out there. Cheers, Schitzo in Montreal, Canada
  11. Hi All, I guess some punka$$ kids went on a rampage yesterday and stole the emblems off of about 20 cars in my neighborhood yesterday. Needless to say they hit my 07 IS250.... got the emblem off the front grill and the emblem off the trunk. THey didnt take the Lexus or the IS250. Just the 2 L's. They used a screwdriver and seemed to have done a pretty clean job. My questions are , can anyone link me to a place were i could get some nice emblems at a decent price. I prefer stock looking ones. Secondly, there seems to be the adhesive left under the where the logo used to sit, I guess i am going to have to clean that off before i can put on a new one. What products can i use to remove the adhesive and not damage the paint. Thanks in advance for your help, It sounds funny to say but i feel totally violated. Thanks, Schitzo in montreal. ps. they also made off with the V and O at the end of the VOLVO (wifes car), they left the VOL.
  12. i heard you the first time ! haha, thanks will do. cheers, s.
  13. Seems like everything is happening to me at the same time. I took my car into a Toyota dealership for an oil change just last week. Today, I get the message Oil Service required soon that comes up when i start the car. I guess the Toyota Tech didn't reset it, can i reset this myself ? If so how? Thanks, Schitzo
  14. that doesn't exactly answer my question(s).
  15. Some members here mentionned that their gas tanks were filled when they brought their cars in for the fuel rail recall. Is this a technical requirement? meaning is that necessary to test the work that was done or was that simply a courtesy. I just picked up my vehicle after leaving it overnight and it appears as though no fuel was added to the tank. I brought it in close to empty as suggested by members here. I was under the impression that they would have to purge all gas from the fuel system in order to be able to complete the work. any advice would be well appreciated. thanks,
  16. I will for the next warranty issue that comes up. I am done with 113.00$ (cdn taxes in) oil changes. Toyota from now on at 49$ taxes in. They scheduled me 2.5 week in advance so i wasn't going to walk right out (Although i considered it), but then I would have to wait weeks again before i got a apptmt elsewhere. The funny and ironic part of this whole situation, is that when i needed a ride home, they could not find anyone to drive me, so the Service Manager drove me home in his New RX (i am guessing its a demo car)....what a waste. i brought the car in filthy as hell and totally empty on fuel....i have been told that i am not entitled to a wash, i will see if they hand it back to me that way. I'd be embaressed for them, every car they hand back to clients super spotless and mine Covered in Mud! hahha. Anyways, they've made it crystal clear for me, I will not be purchasing a future car from them, nor any other Canadian Lexus dealership for that matter. I'd rather helpout our cousins down south and buy another car in the good old US of A.
  17. Hello all, After lengthy discussions here with regards to my US imported IS250 (in Canada). I finally got around to taking my car in for - Creaking dash board -TSB front Brake Dust Issue -Aux Ipod Input issue (which they dont seem to know about and may not perform) -Feul Rail recall (i cancelled my oil change and did it at toyota for half the cost...give) So i drop the car off and am advised that it will take up to 2 days. And they they ask if i need a lift anywhere? I told them that I understood that I would not be given a courtesy car for repairs that take a few hours but 2 days.....is a long time. They did not want to budge at all, i asked the service manager how much they bill Lexus Corp. for warranty repairs...he told me 110$/hr CDN. Given that they have at least 6-7 hours of work on the car (he told me 4 alone for the fuel line recall), that surely a nice little profit given that they pay their techs peanuts. SPINELLI LEXUS IN MONTREAL>>>>> I am totally speechless....they will NEVER get 1 dollar of my hard earned $$ update: called lexus Corp. if anyone one repair is less than 8 hrs of work you are not ENTITLED to a courtesy car. if you have 7 repairs at 7 hours a piece..no courtesy car for you! how rediculous is that?
  18. Hi Following, a few "verbal" exchanges with my local Lexus Service Manager. I decided to take my IS250 to a nearby Toyota Dealership for a scheduled oil change instead. Asides from not having leather couches or complimentary coffee, the service was excellent. Used their complimentary shuttle service to get a work drop off. a 4pm pickup from work, to go pick up the vechicle. Over all cost 49$ taxes included (Canadian Dollars). The local Lexus Dealership uses the same Oil, the Same Filter, the same rubber seal....charges around 100$ (Cdn). Obviosly no courtesy wash or car...but as discussed in an earlier thread, we Imported car owners arent entitled to it as per new policy. So asides from warranty repairs...Lexus ain't seeing a penny of my money. Asked what the filter and rubber o ring costs, in the event i wanted to follow a tutorial on this site and do the change myself... o ring 60 cents, filter 4.50...wow, 5 shmackers. Question I had is if anyone is aware of what type of oil Toyota uses for their oil changes. cheers, schitzo1978
  19. you how theories go right.... I got a brand spanking new one off the lot. ;)
  20. yeah thats what i was illuding to, my idiotic time costs 0$ per hours, i dont need to pay 120$ an hour to have someone check my tire pressure, check my wiper fluid, check my wiper blades etc. on a side note, i was scheduling to bring in my wife's volvo s40 for a 40 000 km service...you have to see the list of what they actually do....total nonsence and they charge.......close to 300$ for the service...one of the items is reset service indicator light...they are the ones that make it go off !!! and lastly..hourly rate for labour 130$/hr !
  21. UPDATE: Got a call back from Nathan at Lexus Canada. As per Lexus Canada the Dealer is under NO OBLIGATION to provide a coutesy car OR car wash to ANY Client. Even if you bought the car in Canada. It is 100% up to the dealer to proceed as he sees fit. So if the dealership decided he doesnt like your face, or times are too tough, you can kiss your courtesy car and courtesy was bye bye. He did mention that if repairs were very lengthy they would have to provide me with a car, BUT when I asked exactly how long, he either was unable to or didnt want to commit to a firm answer. For the user who made a comment about my 250$ oil change, it was my first oil change, and they put the whole.... we need to check all the fluid levels garbage on me. Seeing as how I didn't want to risk any warranty issues i went along with it, but when i saw when the second scheduled serivce includes (check tire pressue, check wiper blades and a whole bunch of other garbage that any idiot could do etc.), i decided that i would simply go for an oil change. I will though in the future go to a toyota dealership for oil changes...40$ sounds alot more reasonable than 95$ and the oil filter is in fact a toyota part. Especially after the garbage service that Spinelli Lexus in Montreal is offering their "patrons".
  22. I called Lexus Canada to see what they have to say about this situation. They fellow on the phone was quite friendly and polite, he logged the issue and will have the resolution team look into this. He mentionned that I can expect a call back in the next 3-5 days. Whatever the decision is i want to hear it from corporate. I dont want local dealers deciding what the policy is. If dealers start not offering service cause you bought the car elsewhere then they may as well just get rid of it all together. People will travel hours to save several thousand dollars when they make their 2nd largest purchase (after a home). It's rediculous to think that they will only return to that dealership for service. I just dont like the way the dealer was trying to give me the impression that they make NO MONEY from service. Tires, maintenance, Accessories, collision repair, detailing all of those things surely make them a hefty profit, especially with what my local dealership charges per hour. I will post back once corporate gets back to me. Enjoy the weekend. Schitzo1978 in Montreal, Canada
  23. really henh... ok. It's just that I read on the Lexus website somewhere (a while back) that courtesy cars are a part of the "lexus service". I wasn't aware that it was left upto the dealer to interpret as he sees fit. What he told me on the phone was that all Canadian Lexus Dealers agreed that they would not be providing the aforementionned service to people who purchased their car in the US. Needless to say...the next time I purchase a car, I will definitely NOT buy one from a Canadian Lexus dealership. still a little peeved.
  24. Hi, I bought a 2007 is250 RWD, from a Canadian Broker 1.5 years ago. He had it purchased in Florida and had it trucked over to me, registered, plated, keys in hand. I took the car to my Local Lexus Dealer (Spinelli Lexus, in Pointe Claire, Montreal, Canada), a few weeks after I got it, had them take care of a squeek from under the steering column. Also had them put on a rediculoulsy expensive clear bra (i think it was over 400$), had them put Nitrogen Gas in the tires (50$+) etc. Did my first oil change/ checkup, cost me 250$+ for a simple oil change and a basic overlooking of the car. I called just earlier to take it in for another service (i store the car in winter and literally have 4200 miles on it...but that will change real soon). I also asked to have the creeking/crackling dash taken care of (it drives me crazy!!), a plastic on plastic vibration that i hear behind the rear passengar side, as well as the Front Brake Dust TSB, the Auxilliary Input IPOD TSB, any open recalls for my car and an Oil Change. Firstly I left a message for the service technician at 10 am and he only called my back at 6pm. Secondly, he went off on how my car is from the US and that Canadian Lexus dealerships have decided that because I imported my car, I am no longer entitled to a courtesy car AND that they will not wash my car after any service is done. In the past they DID offer me a courtesy car and DID wash my car. He was going on about how they want to discourage Canadians from buying their cars south of the border. I got into an argument with him that i didnt really feel like getting a lesson in international economics from him ( I have a masters degree in International Business), but reminded him that i saved 13K on my car by buying it in the US, had i not been able to get it there, i would NOT have purchased the same car in Canada and hence they would not be making service dollars from me! Seems like they are the ones winning in the end....but I digress. Has anyone else heard of this, should I call Corporate and make a complaint??? Before buying my car I made 100% sure that the warranty was totally valid in my home country. AND It was, now they are removing the little fringe benefits that lexus owners enjoy. I sarcastically asked the tech on the phone if I was still entitled to sit on their leather sofas and have a coffee, or if that was now no longer included. Lastly, he told me that I would have to get a fax with whatever outstanding recalls there were on my car as Canadian Dealers dont have access to the US database of cars. I told him that I found it to be a little counterproductive that he could do warranty work on my car, but that I would have to hunt down the open recalls on it myself. Whats going on with lexus Canada and Lexus Corp. ??? I am all ears..and a little peeved right now. schitzo1978 Montreal, Canada
  25. Hi, ihave the 250 with adaptive xenon headlights. i find that they point a little bit too much towards the ground and dont illumiate objects and people well enough. my neighborhood doesnt have any street lights and i find that i have to hit the highbeams in order to see people walking at night. essentially they dont allow me to see far enough for me to feel safe (and by safe i mean i dont wanna hit a lady taking a stroll at night). can the dealer adjust the lights so that they points a few degrees or so more upwards?? has anyone else felt this same issue? thanks, s.
