Noisy Antenna

Good to know we're not the only ones with a noisy antenna. Ours doesn't click, but it's definitely loud in an unnatural way when retracting. I've lubed it up, twice, and it hasn't helped.

I've had older power antennas apart, and they're pretty simple, just plastic gears and a small electric motor. This one sounds like one part of a plastic gear is rubbing on metal, internally. Not good.

If you hear anything, post it, wouldja?

Thanks!

first what are you using to lube the ant

wd 40?"

try white grease it works much better

also mine also clicks but it is normal

it is only the mast retracting into each other

then a few clicks when it is fully in to make sure of it

all the ants on toyota s do the same

I cleaned ours with a rag, then slathered a goodly amount of lithium grease on it, ran it up/down a couple of times, removed the excess, then regreased with more lithium about a week later. Noise unchanged.

Fortunately, it's under warranty.

The antenna on my '00 RX300 squeaks and so does my friends '00. Both of us tried the WD40, but it works for like a day or two then it squeaked again. Now I'll have to try the lithium grease. I think I have some in the garage.

the reason i say not to use the wd40 is it is not made to stick to the parts and binding parts will just squeege it away as it slides up and down

causing the problem all over again

the grease should stay in place

any brand is good wal mart has it here

but some have said they had a hard time finding it at some
