donlee
We recently purphase a 2005 GX with 8000miles. The dealer said it was certified.Later they're asking if we can come in because they can't certify it. Are their some things we need to be concerned about? When you say certified, you mean certified by Lexus' "Certified Pre-Owned" program, or just a generic certification of the local dealer? donlee
yes the car may have a branded title and alot less value Does that mean that it was salvaged or damaged? And yes Lexus certified. The dealer seems to want us in and is throwing a free tank of gas. Does it sound fishy?
lenore
Boy I would have a maintenance history ran on that car, and if it looks bad I would run, not walk away.
indiasfinest
does the dealer really think everything will be ok if they throw in a free tank of gas?
lexus411
Buyback is as bad a sit seems. Most buybacks are done for customer satisfaction. The fact that it can't be certified usually means the tile is branded which hurts its value. Just run your own car fax.
The G Man
Ask the dealer why they cannot certify it, then run a carfax on that VIN. If you still want that car after that, ask for a 3 to 4 thousand dollar discount, since thats much the certification is worth.
TM8000
I have a same opinion. The dealer should be able to tell you why it cannot be certified. There must be a reason behind that and it can be about its title. I would keep away from such a car.
donlee
Boy I would have a maintenance history ran on that car, and if it looks bad I would run, not walk away. The dealer says because it's so new it's only had 5000 mile checkup. He also says that's why the price was so low.
Astrekapolis
Best advise do the carfax vin number check and see what records it has. There is always a lemon law aplying the first 30 days when buying a used car, even lexus. I would always do this check before buying any used car, great negotiation tool for pricing and knowing what happened with the vehicle. thesaintjim
does the dealer really think everything will be ok if they throw in a free tank of gas? Every car I bought, they give you a free fill up
05IS300
There is a reason it's a "buyback".I would run the service history and a Carfax and see what shows up.
