SKperformance Posted August 9, 2003 Share Posted August 9, 2003 the car bounces over bumps a shock is a dampener meaning it is used to keep the spring from moving too much up and down by limiting the forces of such a spring does most of the suspension work by keeping ride height and fighting gravity to keep the car at an optimun height an easy waay of sorts it to have the car driven on a highway and have another car drive beside it look at the wheel as it goes over bumps does it seem to do go too high or low over bumps rather than follow the road? steviej Posted August 9, 2003 Share Posted August 9, 2003 stand over each corner of the car, you will do this four times. with both hands and one steady motion, push down with a lot of force on each corner of the car. If the shocks are ok, the car should come to rest in one up and down motion. If the shocks are bad or on their way out, it will bounce a few times. also listen for any kind of grinding noise when the car is pushed down and when the car is bouncing.
