Radar Jammer....

Recommended Posts

Hey, does anyone know if those radar jammers really work? I heard an advertising for one that they will pay a speeding ticket if you get one....I've heard of thise for the K40 radar detector but not a jammer, I think it's called a phaser something...Has anyone heard of this product or ones like it? And does anyone know if they work? Thanks, any advice is much appreciated.

I would suggest find out from a radar forum which will give you people who are into the hobby with lots of experience as most of us are amatures at it.

They do work though by sending multiple scrambled data to the gun so it reads an error ,most officers know this and will reaim at you and shoot ,hopefully you early warning system has alerted you and you slowed down in time. They can only work for a few seconds and get very hot. Usually placed above your front plate.

They're also illegal in most states.

If you want to install one, know the laws of your state as well as any states you travel through.

They're actually illegal in EVERY state.

Not true...I believe only 8 states have outlawed them...Not sure which ones though....

OH OK, I thought they came like radar detectors, one that you can suction cup the windshield....

I saw something on 20/20 or something about the Phaser... they said it does work.. when its less then 10 feet of the radar.. lol it was a big story... and the end results showed it worked 0 out of 20 times....

The active jammers are not legal via FCC rules.

Passive jammers don't have enough range to be effective. All the tests I've seen indicate that you are better off with a good detector.

Yea it would probably be more effective and more cost effective....

The Phaser does NOT work. Car and Driver tested it years ago...it's garbage. As said before, active jammers are illegal due to FCC regulations. However, you can LEGALLY jam LIDAR since it's optical and not regulated by the FCC.

How do you jam LIDAR (laser)? I've looked into it...a lot....lmao. What you need is an extremely bright light source, off road lights would work pretty well. Then you can buy from most any military surplus store, IR light covers. The military put these over their lights for night time ops...they will only allow infra-red light to pass. All visible light is blocked. This will render ANY laser unit completely inoperable until you drive by.

Since the vast majority of law enforcement is now using LIDAR, this is probably the best setup one could use.

Yeah, yeah, yeah..... I saw this all on Mythbusters.

Maybe we can install a spinning death machine on the roof, have nifty LED license plate frames and have cannons that shoot aluminum foil at the cops as we pass too. ;)

If you follow this thought, please upload pictures when the project is complete.

I bet the Lexus looks great with a roof rack and 15 military grade off-road lamps mounted on it!

Radar jammers are illegal everywhere. Laser jammers are not.

Radar is radio frequency, and all radio frequencies are governed by the FCC. If you jam a radar, you could face federal charges, as well as your speeding ticket. It would be the same a jamming a TV or radio station. Very bad.

Laser, however, is not radio frequency. It is light (Light Amplification by Stimulation and Emission of Radiation). Jamming laser is not illegal, and right now Escort makes the only reliable Laser jammer. You can see it on their website.
