Please Help Toddls400 Pick 18" Rims

I'm buying 18" rims/tires today. I'll be putting on 40 - 45 series Kumho Supra Ecsta tires. I've had good luck with that rubber plus they have a 30K warranty. Which one do you like? Here's my final choices:

Hey Todd,

I'd have to vote for the TSW Q5 as well. Not only are they the coolest looking, they also look like they would be the easier to clean. Your Lex will look sweet!

Hehe...I just got back from Discount and I ordered the MB Design Link. Jeez, nobody has even voted for that one yet... Do they look stupid or something?

I like the Q5's like VB & RX but they said the 18 X 9 would be too wide for my LS400. The chrome Q5's are listed at $399/rim. Expensive! But I can get them to drop the price quite a bit. I'm getting a screaming deal on the chrome MB Links. I'll pay about $1,500 (manager mark down) out the door with Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 ZR rated tires (235/40-ZR18) , locking lugs, mounted/balanced. Regular price was over $1,800. This MB Design is a new company so they are pricing their stuff cheap to get people to buy them. When they come in and if I don't like them, I can choose something else. Discount is really cool about returning stuff if you don't like it and they don't stick you with shipping from the Arizona warehouse. My girlfriend switched up to some nicer (more expensive) Yokohoma tires after 2 weeks and Josh (mgr) didn't charge her anything.

No VMF. I'm paying $1,500 out the door including tax. That's rims, tires, mounting, balancing, locking lug nuts. They're over $1,800 w/tax at regular price. Me and my girlfriend have bought 3 - 4 sets of rims/tires from them so they always give us great deals.

You can order with free shipping at> http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.jsp

This is a new company. I can't even find a website for them. If anybody knows where to get addtional info on MB Design, please post it here. They seem like they will look cool on a luxury car? I sure hope so...

MB Design Link - I've always liked the look of chrome on black cars. Polished alloy or silver looks good on silver cars. (That other pic was too big. It ruined the thread.)

Some of their wheel designs seem like replicas of Arceo:

What do you think?

I like the reflex

Matthew,

Those Reflex rims are only $201US/piece at Discount. Those are damn cool looking rims for really cheap. TSW makes awesome rims. My girlfriend has 18" TSW Heaven 7's on her perfect 1993 black Nissan 300ZX convertible. It has 32K true miles on it. Some rich dude bought it for his wife years ago and she never drove it because it's a stick. The car is like brand new.

nissan350Zheaven7.jpg

This is not her car of course. This is the new 350Z. I use to have a burgandy '93 300ZX convertible. She use to drive it all of the time so then she wanted one after I sold mine.

hvn-c.jpg

These rims look SWEET on her car.

Those are the exact same rims my g-friend has on her '93 convert 300ZX.

Those are the TSW Heaven 7's. They're tough as hell and they look good from all angles. That 350ZX picture really doesn't do much justice to the real beauty of those rims. It's a low quality, compressed pic. Her car gets WAY TOO much attention. She gets honked at and challenged to race daily. It's funny. I dunno if I like that though..... Hmmmm.....We've been together for over 3 years and we're engaged... Oh well... Hehe...

I'll take a digital pic of her car and post it here. You'll love the look.

Yeah Todd, the chrome MB's do look cool. Hey, when I was at the dealers yesterday, they have a parts botique (Bo-Teek). In it, they had some nice looking Lexus wheels on display. Chrome, and with the "L". They had a PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH sign on them. They also had a bunch of fingerprints on them. Now they have one more....

I guess Crager SS's are out of the question huh.

VB...Hehe...You would see my hand print on there as well....

Here's some cool rims at a good price via wheelcontact. I think the Omega may be the only set that will fit Lexus? http://www.wheelcontact.com/product.php

Here's some great rim/tire combos at some really low prices> http://www.dragonwheels.com/ If anybody calls here, please tell us which rims work on Lexus. I really like that Detata Trax 18" deal. $1,499 for chrome rims and tires. + FREE shipping. Wow!

These are both sold for $1,099 with tires included. That seems way too cheap? Fishy?

Think I figured it out ... TSW shows ONE 8 inch wide wheel for the 1997 LS-400 ... it has a 40 offset. The H7 wheel comes in 8 inch width but only up to a 35 offset. All the other wheels they show for the 97 LS are either 7 or 7 1/2 inches wide. Darn ... those H7's sure would of looked great on my car !

Look at the 18" TSW Reflex's on this Probe (of all cars). Discount sells these for $201! Those are damn good looking wheels for REAL cheap! Those will fit on our LS400. Josh at Discount Tires offered me $1,300 out the door for these rims with Kumho tires. That's looking good on a tight budget. They have instant credit online (if you need it) as well...

Greetings from Discount Tire Direct.

Thank you for your inquiry.

The MB Design wheels do not have a Website that is dedicated

to them. Basically, the MB logo is a creation of Discount Tire

and the wheels are built by several major manufacturers. The

MB Design Link wheels are built by Liquid Metal Motorsports,

which should have a Website available soon.

If we can be of further assistance, please reply to this e-mail

Discount Tire is the official USA distributor for the following

wheels: MB Motoring wheels, MB Design wheels, Fittipaldi wheels,

ATS wheels, Voxx wheels, G-Games, Fondmetal, X-wheels, some Konig,

some Enkei, some B Coddington, some Centerline, and some 5Zigen

wheels.

The MB Design wheels have a 1 year warranty for the finish and

a lifetime warranty for manufacturers defects. The wheels are

not covered for any Road Hazard damage. Chrome wheels are not

recommended for use in Winter conditions, as the salt will deteriorate

the finish.

That's cool. Liquid Metal makes really nice truck/SUV rims. Great quality and a lifetime warranty from Discount to be free of defects. I talked my local store and my wheels will be here Thursday....Can't wait... :magic:

when r we gonna c the results Todd?

Thursday it looks. Unless they come in later or I can't make it to the shop that day? They could be here Wednesday? Phoenix to Seattle doesn't take too long. They were suppose to be ordered Friday but I found out they ordered them to be shipped out today. I don't think it mattered anyway because I was in there later in the afternoon on Friday. They would of shipped out today either way I think? Who knows...

I got to take a pic of my car. I used the Maguire 1 step wax yesterday and the coat looks like a mirror. It got rid of all those swirls from the last crappy wax I put on there. I actually used a wax that I was using on my boat last time. That Maguires stuff is great! I must get some of that carnuba wax too. I should get that spray on in-between wax stuff...

I brought my 91 LS400 2 months ago, it comes along with bold tires and standard 16' wheels. i didn't bother to change the tires since i'm still shopping around for bigger wheels. Can Arceo Bellestar fit on mmy car?, if they do, i would sure like to get a set of that.

Yes, the Bellestars (18 X 8) do fit your car. They're $267/wheel at Discount. The same design as MB Design Ammo (18 X 7.5) are $252/wheel.

If you go to larger wheels like the 18" Bellestars that you like, you must get new tires. The 16" tires will not fit your larger wheels as you can imagine. You have to get new 18" tires as well to match your new, larger wheels.

I just talked to Discount and my wheels are suppose to be in today via FEDEX. I might get them on the car this evening? If not today, tomorrow...

Check this out. I was informed today that Kumho has increased their warranty from 30K to 40k on their ZR rated 18" tires. Wow! That's incredible for a ZR rated tire. Kumho has to be one of the best tire manufacturers now?

They came in! I went and looked at my rims after work. They are SWEET! They actually look a lot better than the picture. I am very happy. I'm having them put on in the morning. I'll take pics and post them later. I couldn't get them on tonight bacause they only had 3 of the Kumho tires in stock. They're having the 4th tire shipped from a local store in the morning.

Not only do I like the rims. I'm really looking forward to the 18" Kumho tires. The handling is going to improve 10 fold by what I hear. My friend use to have a '91 LS400 and he said that his handling improved a lot after putting on his 18" wheels. Especially compared to the 15" Grandpa/Cressida wheels. You'll notice that Lexus switched to 16" wheels/tires the very next year in '91.
