Bourne33065 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Hey, apprently Lexus will be introducing a new IS convertible in January. Has anyone else heard about this? Will it be a hardtop or a soft top convertible? I was looking on other forums and this came up, just wanted to know what you guys thought about it and if you've heard.
bartkat Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Don't know about a convertible, but the IS500 seems to be in the works. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=295106
Bourne33065 Posted June 2, 2006 Author Posted June 2, 2006 Hm this isn't the first time that I've heard about the IS 500, but I don't think 20,000 bucks extra is worth the .3 seconds on your 0-60 time, and the 155 speed max ( I bet that if you took the limiter off the 350 you could get it up there ) and plus the extra gas money. Although the engine (5.0 liter V8) is quite impressive. I guess we'll have to wiat and see what Lexus comes out with, but what is beyond a shadow of the a doubt is that the comfort and reliablity will always be unbeatible!!!!!!!!!!! Don't know about a convertible, but the IS500 seems to be in the works. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=295106

Kaizen-san Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Yes, there will be a convertible coupe and hardtop coupe. I am not quite sure about the material of the top but most likely it is going to be a soft top.
Rx330driver Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 soft top...id prefer a hard top...looks better, just like on the aston martin v8 vantage. the soft top makes it look ugly

Why does Lexus need an IS350 Convertble? I'm sure it would be more $$$, why not just take the SC 430?
Rx330driver Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 they might discontinue the SC...rumor also, look at mercedes...how many covertibles do they have...i can think of 4 already...lexus only has 1

steviej Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I thought the IS was going up against BMW. Not mercedes. in the auto business you NEVER have only 1 competitor. steviej
Rx330driver Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 maybe im a benz fan...but i still think its the "best" (notice the quotes) auto maker...maybe not the most reliable but the goal other automakers are trying to meet. I know im going to get a lot of heat for that comment

Rx330driver Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 i retract best and replace it with the pinnacle goal for other auto makers. Dont look at what they made, but start to look at what they are making...starting with the new S class
