I've had my sc400 since 92' and I think that a few mods will be inevitable. With that in mind, does anyone installed or seen an HID Kit for a 92' sc400. I saw some online but am unconvinced of their quality. However I saw theseHID KIT the other day and was quite impressed! Anyone have any suggestions?

moved to the modification section.

That kit is absolute garbage.

Not worth a single cent as it WILL burn out the bulbs and ballasts over and over again.

Buy original Philliips units ot stick with blue ricey bulbs that mimick the real HID kit.

I would suggest just replacing your bulbs, NOT the whole headlight unit. If you are looking for the HID white/light tint of blue color, i know exactly what you want.

The size of the low beams on your SC are "9006"

A while back my brother installed (well i did) some new bulbs in his 01 toyota Camry (same size as your bulbs).

Bottom line, TRUST ME!!!! This is what you want. They say color temp is 8500k, but in reality, they are perfect. TRUST me, these are what you want!

They are "just" th right color. NOT yellow AT ALL, with a "tiny" amt. of blue to it. MY brother's had them in his car for ever a year and they look even more light blue than they did then!

Just TRUST me...this is the right color temperature for this brand. I've seen these in person and they're perfect!!!

Good luck! All you do it twist out the bulbs you have now and twist these new bulbs in!

I'm going to his house tomorrow i'l take a few pictures to show you.

I completly disagree, this is the wrong way of doing things or the cheap way.

First they are over wattage bulbs which either melt the headlight housing , wiring or cause a nice fire.

Second if you want to just do plain halogen bulbs thne get silverstars or piaa.

What you need to figure out is do you want to spend 200-300 for a plug and play HID system or not.

is the look/vanity or the actual output the reason for the upgrade.

Before you go buying a HID kit I would do a search on this forum and online. Check for what kits are good, legal issues for use on roads, cutoff, glare etc.

someone on another forum said that if you buy newer SC headlights that lexus switched the lense or something that gives you a nice cutoff on OEM headlights. probably cost as must as a retrofit though? i myself was thinking about getting Xetronic headlights but after some study decided not to. sounds like good technology just something felt wrong. going OEM phillips.
