akewlguy Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Any suggestions on a month or date to put Blizzaks on my LS? Also if you reccomend another tire that is appreciated. I am thinking after Turkey day.. Not looking forward to losing my awesome 17" Tauranza V's.. They are awesome, but any advice is greatly appreciated.

akewlguy Posted October 28, 2005 Author Posted October 28, 2005 Thanks DCFISH.. I will do that.. Anyone else have personal opinions on tires?
vyhanh Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Hi, I have used Blizzaks on 91 LS400 for last 2 winters. You can enhance more by putting 2 70lbs sandbags in the trunk as well.
Gumart1 Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 If you put sandbags in the trunk sure you will have better grip on the tires but as a result you will also have increased stopping distance and more work for your brakes. I'm not sure if this is a wash or of one way is better and I admit I haven't yet driven the LS in snow.
sha4000 Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 i dont drive my car in the snow unless absolutely have to, thats one reason why im not too bothered by living in the country
akewlguy Posted October 28, 2005 Author Posted October 28, 2005 Well I am going to buy a new car with FWD. Then I will have no concerns with the tires. What can I get for $500 bucks. :)

smcd Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 I change mine to snows Thanksgiving weekend and take them off first week of April.
smcd Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Roger that - Boston area (see location in my profile summary!). I will be selling my 16" Lexus OEM rims with Blizzak tires in the for sale forum once I reach 20 posts. Hang on, that's now. I'll post soon and email you.
akewlguy Posted October 29, 2005 Author Posted October 29, 2005 Yeah I have the oem 16" wheels. So for 550 I can get tires removed and replace by Firestone for the next 3-4 years. This week I am going to Roanoke, VA so I hope it does not snow.
daktana Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I just had Lexus of Omaha mount and balance my Blizzaks, summer tires are Touranza. I keep track of my winter miles and based on just 3500 to 4000 miles each winter, these tires should last 5 to 6 years, very soft tread, but extremely effective on snow and ice. Anyway, it probably depends on where you live, but I have no problem putting them on a little early, better to be safe than sorry.
