LexKid630 Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 I stumbled on this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-RX-33...sspagenameZWDVW Here you can see the center console panel that looks like wood. But the back of it looks like brown plastic to me...what am i looking at? LOL I just E-Mailed the seller of this product and this was their response: Hi It is plastic made to look like wood. Looks like a burlwood. Thanks
SKperformance Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 All parts in the cars usually are all wood but it must have a backing of some sort not as a veneer but as a splintering protection in case of accidents and to make it more resistant to wear. Both of my cars are real wood with plastic backing moulded into them.
SW03ES Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 SK's got it. I'm still a firm believer that this trim in the RX330 is all fake though. If you compare that peice to the same peice off another Lexus model its pretty obvious the RX330's console wood is fake.
obsidianr Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 When I was on the Lexus Plant Tour of the Cambridge, Ontario plant, where some of the RX330s are manufactured. We were told that all of the wood trim was real wood and that all of the pieces in each particular vehicle were cut from the same tree so that they would match, etc. Whether this is true or not, I'm not sure. Although I'm inclined to believe that they wouldn't lie. SK's got it.I'm still a firm believer that this trim in the RX330 is all fake though. If you compare that peice to the same peice off another Lexus model its pretty obvious the RX330's console wood is fake. ←
