1990LS400 Posted September 19, 2005 Share Posted September 19, 2005 After catching someone switching license plates in a parking lot some years back (it's done to disguise stolen cars), I've since used hex head (Allen) bolts to secure license plates to cars. I'm assuming that people who steal license plates are going to have only screw drivers with them and are going to steal plates that are easily removed. The way I keep license plates from rattling (and eliminate damage to the cars) is to put a length of small rubber hose (e.g. windshield washer hose) between the perimeter of my metal plate frame and the car.
