I got it for $31,000 which was about $3,000 below the MSRP. Certainly not a bad deal at that price, but I don't think they discounted based on the new IS being released. I think the offer on my trade is low, so that may be the balancing factor. But taking just the price alone it seems a pretty decent deal. I was waffling but you helped me be less terrified. They probably control that pretty well, but you might be able to find a better deal on one if you aren't real particular about options and color, and look around at several dealers. Most of the time your trade-in will be at wholesale book for average condition. You also can consider that when the 2006 models come out, your trade will also have depreciated another year as well. I drove from Austin to San Antonio for that supposed great deal, and when I got there they denied what I thought I heard on the phone, and I ended up spending essentially the TMV amount on Edmunds (same as Syrupflow). That's not a bad deal, but I didn't get the great deal I thought I was getting and for which I was willing to drive out of town. I feel certain they plan it that way; that after you've driven a distance with a trade-in vehicle all perfectly cleaned and ready to hand over, you are unlikely to go back home in that older car. I emailed her asking for TT&L amounts a week ago and she denied getting the email. Just now I verified that I did send the email to the correct email address. When I asked her last week if she had gotten the email she quickly said no and so I asked her to get the info and leave me a phone message with it. She said she would but never did. I didn't suspect that she meant to change the figures and in the emotion of wanting the car, chose to ignore that warning sign. They have psychology on their side. I think based on learning this lesson that buying a car in your local city is essential because it is not so hard to walk away from a deal that twists out of control.
