  1. Hi, do any of you have experience with dvd monitors in cars going bad? My directed monitor is broken after having it for about 3-4 months. The movies won't play on the screen and there are lines going across the screen. Anyone know whats up? i'm calling the dealer tomorrow to take advantage of the warranty. The other monitor, which is used much less often, is just fine.
  2. hehe...i have two threads on the same subject in two forums. oh well I blacked out. It happens every now and then but not like it did this time. I'm seeing a doctor about it. I think we were all surprised that the airbag didn't go off. Can an airbag protect you from seatbelt injuries? Anyway, Allstate doesn't want to claim it totaled but the shop says it is definitely totaled. I'm having salvage buyers bid on it. I'm also thinking about bringing in a 3rd appraiser, but i don't know how much good that would even accomplish. I hope it doesn't lead to hiring a lawyer.
  3. i didn't realise that I had posted the message in this forum when I was comparing something between different forums. I have more pics but I couldn't get it to work. I wasn't looking for something very meaningful. Just a little guessing game before I hear the results anyway. its an 01 is300 with about 68k miles with the black escaine interior in very good condition. well...too bad for me...I've seen the interior in a few other is300s and I didn't like it as much as my style. I think the 05 interior from my dealer's loaner looked ugly and cheap. The airbag didn't go off.
  4. Do you think the appraiser will find this car totaled next week?
  5. is300s in very good condition can be bought for a bargain now. Seems like a lot more young drivers have been getting late model is300s around here. I don't see very many new is300s though.
  6. Dealership offered to exchange the unit for $250 labor. I probably won't do it. I'm exploring my options with dvd/nav players and possibly audio upgrades.
  7. did you not keep any paperwork from when you brought it in to be checked out? steviej ← No. I didn't even think much af it at the time.
  8. Dealer says they will exchange my headunit out for $250. I brought it in before 50k miles to have them check the problem but they dont have any records of it so I dont have much of a choice on the warranty part. At least thats what i was told.
  9. dealer says parts will cost about $93 and the labor is about $130. They also told me that they would have to take the door apart so it seems like ure right on the money bartkat freakin a :chairshot: :cries:
  10. Do you happen to know where I can purchase one of these parts online?
  11. wow thats some pretty bad rust. Do your brakes make a grinding sound when you start driving the car? Mine does after I leave it outside for a day or so in colder weather. My rust mostly occurs where the brakes touch the rotors, I think. Its the part of the rotor in the before picture w/o rust where I have my rust.
  12. My dealer won't swap it out or repair it. They clean it and adjust it and it starts working only for a couple of days. I'm not the original owner either. Any other suggestions on what to do? Is it possible to contact corporate? I was going to just buy a new head unit but products seemed to be very limited. Actually, I didn't find one that would fit into an is.
  13. Also, the top hinge is loose. It looks like its held onto the door with an adhesive that was used on other areas of the car also. I'lll have to take another look at it and see if I can come up with more info. Btw, I will be contacting the collision center soon, but I'd rather not deal with them because I wouldn't doubt that I'll get treated with the lost" attitude. The body shop was a very good shop until this past year. I think the owner is burned out or just buried in too much work as a result from producing awesome results in the past. I still went to the shop for repairs in good faith since they were very good in the past. I'm so naive. sigh
  14. I have a problem with my door after having had my car repaired at a collision center. The door is attached to the car by two hinges and a piece of metal. The piece of metal is connected to the car by an inch long metal rod that keeps it together. When the door is opened, it produces a recoil like reaction that helps prevent the door from swinging too wide and too quickly. Without the parts, the door shuts without assistance upon opening. If anyone is familiar with this issue will you please respond. I need to know what the part is called, how much I should expect to pay for it, and where I can order one. I also need to know if it is possible to perform a do-it-yourself home repair w/o any special tools; which I don't expect to be necessary. I'm familiar enough to know that my dealer will charge me heavily to repair it for me and I'm not particularly satisfied with my last repair experience with my ac adapter(cig lighter).
