1993 Es300 - Cloth Interior- No Sunroof - Rare?

Recommended Posts

I have found a 1993 ES300 at a local car lot that I am considering. I took a look at it today was was a little suprised that it did not have leather interior or sunroof. I know that initially, some of the 90 LS400s had cloth as standard, but I was thinking that by 92' even the ES had leather as standard.

I am wondering- how often do you see a ES300 (1st generation) with CLOTH interior and lacking sunroof. I actually prefer cloth interior, so this is an advantage for me. Also, the lack of sunroof is an advantage, as I rarely even used the feature when I had my LS400. This ES is also pearl white, with a very dark colored interior- which I have also not seen many of.

This car has 150K and they are still asking $4995 for it. I think it is a bit steep, as I paid $3995 for my 90' LS400 from the same dealer about two years ago.

Thanks for any advice/information.

Thanks SK- do these have the same engine as the 3.0L V6 engine that the Toyota Camrys of the same year had?

If so, I had a 1993 Toyota Camry LE V6 (3.0L) that had 220K when I sold it- still running like new- no engine leaks or oil burning. It was a 1-owner, well maintained car however- so that may be the only reason it was so good.

I think this ES had cassette.

no leather  no roof

probably no cd changer either

way too much for a problem prone steel block engine

find a 94 or newer

I looked at a '93 ES300 in a 5 speed (loved it) not too long ago that was also cloth, and no sunroof, no heated seats. Obviously the original owned saved quite a bit on the purchase compared to a loaded model, but I have to admit that the cloth seats were among the nicest feeling and highest quality I've seen, a beautiful thick patterned velour, and they still looked and felt new nearly 12 years later. Investment, no, but if you like the feel and don't care about a sunroof, I say go for it. That being said, I think there should be room on the price and you can use the lack of features to your advantage, just as the next buyer will when it is time for you to sell.

SW- I think it was Jim.

Gumart- that is what this ES300 had- it was a nice velour, with little patterns in the cloth. They looked very comfortable.

Who was it that had cloth on an older LS and misses it on a newer one, was it Jim (1990LS400)?

The interior of my ES250 is stunning. the cloth is perfect, as is the carpet. ask the few people herewho have seen it in person (blake918 woudl be a good one) it is immaculate...a testament to lexus.

Yup the engine in the 92-93 Camry V6 is the exact same one in the 92-93 ES300. As far as an ES300 missing those options, it's not everyday, but I do see them around. My co-worker has a 92 or 93 (I forget) ES300 that has only the sunroof and automatic transmission as the only options.

believe it or not, to get a no option ES, i thinkyou had to delete stuff. cause every one i see has a sunroof. not all have leather, but all have the sunroof. and its actually a moonroof.

I'm not sure about the 'testament to Lexus' part. Seems to be more a testament to how you (and the previous owner(s) if any) took care of the car.

I couldn't personally live with cloth - not with kids in the house.

Thats the funny part. this car wasnt maintained at all.it was just 2 old farts that owned it, then never changed the tranny fluid in the 12 years they had it...scared now? i was when i found out...after i paid for it.

he also never did any kind fo interior work, if you look closely, you can see serious heat warp on the dash. cuased by not protecting it with armor all or something.

no, it actually doesnt, its there in case i need it. its a Kroger Plus card (Grocery Store Discount Card). also gives me 3 cents a gallon off of gas.

ask Blake, this car is as rattle free as it was when new. he drove it quite a good distance.

I used to have a ford contour, i knwo all about rattles.
