It could be that your drive belts are getting worn out, but more information is needed to make a better speculation. Has it always done that or when did it start happening? Was anything done to the engine recently? Have you tried opening the hood and listening to the engine to find out exactly where the sound is coming from?

Get an automotive stethoscope to help you find out where the squeak is coming from. It's similar to the one that the doctor uses to listen to your heartbeat. You could find one for about $15.

do you have a regular mechanic you deal with that can have a look at it sofresh?

get a little squirt bottle of water. Have someone rev the car while in park. Dribble the belt, one at a time, with a little water while it is squeking. If the squeak goes away, then you need to replace that belt.

i think bartkat is joking ( i hope) with the soap

their is only one belt for all pulleys

you need to adjust the bolt on the alternator to remove some slack but if it never used to slip and is now it probably is worn and needs replacing.

im guessing it is the belt and i was hopin it would be an easy fix but oh well. its not too bad. thanks for all of the suggestions. i'm gunna try a couple things first and i'll keep ya posted.

changing the belt is an easy fix

only uses one bolt to adjust on the alternator bracket to loosen it then slip off and on ,all done in 15 minutes with the one ratchet

Absolutely DO NOT use any of those "belt dressings".

Tighten the belt if it needs tightening or replace the belt if it needs replacing.
