90-92 LS doesn't have an air filter. Only 93 and later models do.

Take some Orange Blast, Simply Green or Lysol and spray into the vents directly under your wiper blades. Run the AC on high and re-apply the procedure a few more times. Every now an then you might need to do it again. It's caused by mildew.

Spraying stuff in the intake vents might help temporarily, but the main cause is moldy mildew growth on the evaporator. If that isn't throroughly cleaned, it's just going to keep coming back.

I used their DWD2 Evaporator Core Cleaner and Odor Removal System and it worked great. It's been a year since I used it and still no odor problems. This is a reputable company with good service, etc.

Can you tell me where the filter is on the 1993 LS400 ? I have been told to look in the glove compartment, but I do not see it there. The manual says to bring it to the dealer for replacement, I would rather do it myself.

It's located under the glove compartment. You'll have to pull back the plastic cover under the dash to see the filter. This is what I was told by another member. I don't have a filter either.

Ls models that do have an A/C air filter...

Open the glove box and at the top back of the box is a removeable panel of about 2 inches high by 10 inches wide. Remove this panel and then with a flashlight you can see the panel, recongnizable by a couple of "up" arrow, covering the access to the filter. Remove this panel and you can slide the tray holding the filter toward you.

You can also avoid this problem by opening the windows slightly in the garage at night to let the trapped moisture evaporate out of the vehicle. For those of you in the more nothern areas you can avoid, mostly, the incidents of early morning windshield fog in this manner.

Without some method to remove the moisture accumulated during the previous day's use of A/C you can end up with a dirty gym socks odor and/or windshield fogging about five miles down the road on a coolish morning when the blower kicks in due to the engine water jacket temperature finally have risen to 130F.

The cabin air filter on a 93 LS 400 is not accessed through the glove compartment.

I have a 93 LS and changed my filter earlier this year.

You need to remove the lower panel of the dash on the passenger side. As I recall, there are three clips holding it on. Be very careful with these clips - they break easily. There is also a clip in the rear, close to the small light.

After this panel is lowered, you will see a black plastic enclosure with two wingnuts at the bottom. Remove these wingnuts, and the bottom of the enclosure will drop down. Within the enclosure, there will be two filters. The first will probably fall out when you remove the bottom. The other one is further up in the enclosure. The filters bend so you can insert them into the cavity.

I ordered my new filters from www.irontoad.com. I believe they cost about $35.00.

The stuff foams. You put it into the ducting upstream from the evap core and run the fan, it foams and cleans the core, and exits through the condensate drain. The instructions are pretty comprehensive.
