Timing Belt Or Timing Chain?

Recommended Posts

Ha...i like changing timing belts about as much as i like someone bashing my teeth in with an aluminum bat.....

your timing belt is a belt running your cam gears and crank pulley....it drives your engine's timing with precision and great accuracy...or else...kaboom!

dont mess with it unless you are somewhat familar with it... you can have it professionaly replaced for around 250-350 dollars...it is well worht it for the less experianced!!

i have a 92 lexus sc400 and i was wondering if the engine has a timing belt or a timing chain...and how often should i change em and where it's located at under the hood...thanks!

Timing belt, it can be seen if you remove the distributor and rotor cap covers, it's the two black covers located in front of the motor, when removed it makes belt visible.
