OK a back light to my ac control unit has gone out so i took it upon myself to replace them along with all the lights on my doors and the hazard light and ac and volume control lights. HOWEVER, i replaced them all with white LED's and they all blew....they can only take 2.5 volts instead of buying a resistor for every stinkin light, is there any other way I can do this?, anyone have any helpful hints? i will post the pics and all when this project is complete.

My PS pressure hose is leaking bad and the only people that have it is Lexus and they want $320, FOR A HOSE!!! i tried the supra one but it is actually different, its not bent correctly, and is only $50. Instead of getting the hose rebuilt I would prefer it was new, anyone know where there is a normal price for this hose less than $150?? or do I need to empty my wallet? and does anyone know where to get a good rack and pinion seal kit?

PLEASE do it yourself it is very easy. save the money for those beers. trying to remember how, i believe you have to take the top plastic piece off, and there are 6 hex screws, then you can take off the one blocking the pulley,there are 3 more hex screws, one is kinda deep in the plastic cover in the middle. then there are just 2 or 3 bolts holding to the engine, 12mm bolts i believe, its about $120 for the part, and takes maybe 10 minutes to take it off so dont give the mechanic the satisfaction and do it yourself! let me know if you have any questions

I was thinking about replacing my stock fly with a lightweight flywheel and new clutch, but I also was thinking about the Unorthodox pulley kit for the 300. My friend said that if I do both of those upgrades not to replace the crank pulley becuase doing that and using a lightweight flywheel causes the GE, and the GTE to crank walk. Is this a myth or is this true, and why? Kinda wanna know before I find out the hard way.

yeah a new fuel filter and a line flush and cleansing wouldnt hurt, new plugs arent expensive, and a flush at a local shop is about 60-90 bucks.

Dear friend welcome to the world of Lexus. 1st Prob, the paint... I have a 97 sc300 and it started on the bumpers and now is on the hood and roof of my car, I think with that red the chipping is normal wear(as I have the same color). A bra will cover it up now but the rest of the paint will surely follow. 2nd prob, the leather in the back will split there, more worn items. WWW.Leatherseats.com sells awesome replacement seats for about 750, includes both buckets, the rear and the center console leather. The third problem again some normal weather wear, you can have the weather stripping put on pretty inexpensively. What year is your car?? 4th prob, hmmm there are several screws along the botom part of the door panel(inside of course) and the top right by the mirror, and a hidden one behind the handle. after those are removed it pops out pretty easily. and the cable might be loose to the door, easy fix, hopefully. 5th yeah it could be a number of things, maybe bad plugs or wires, distributor cap and rotor might need replacing, fuel lines cleaned and filter changed. That one is hard to narrow down Well hope some of this helps lemme know how it goes!!!

OKOK, im just curious, but can you bleed the coolant system for the sc year 97? i thought it would work out the air itself since it is pressurized? i may be impatient but i didnt find any forum results on this topic. AND i get this loud whirring noise from the front of the engine cant tell where from though, and it just recently started. it sounds like its comming from the cams, dono why, no oil leaking there, or my PS pump. is this a noise usualy associated with a bad PS pump? thanks again to any info

I am puzzled, my car when from a cold start cranks it will idle at about 1600-1800 rpms, then gradually goes down as the temp warms up. Assuming there are no vacumm leaks is it the IACV?? if so can i tinker with it to fix it becuase i do not want to spend the $400 on a new freakin one of those.

well if they only replaced the clutch then yes that might be the same bearing you have had for god knows how long. So if you are getting the bearing replaced also have the rear seal on the engine and the tranny oil seal replaced, the parts are less than $5 each and take 10 min to do, it is worth the extra effort to replace those too!!!

lol you have to be kidding ArmyofOne, they made manual all the way up to 97... i know because i drive one... and ive checked the vin it will pull up 5 speed under transmission type. there was a guy at lexus in tampa that didnt believe me either... when i needed a shift boot and shift knob... he made me prove it by getting my VIN # and he pulled it up, much to his surprise it was OEM.

I am showered with many compliments from respectable supra and SC owners on having a 97 5 speed.... but my question is how rare is it?? how can i find out an exact number of 97 5 speeds?? if anyone knows please let me know!!

I am purchasing a reman. compressor... it is seized. Just curious does anyone know why it would do this? any suggestions. I know it has nothing to do with refrigerant level... i ruled that out when the mechanic told me it was full. any reason as to why this happens ,shed some insight

Just a suggestion... this happened to an RX-7 i had...there was a lot of dirt and dust under the button where the conection is, resulting in 1 window not working, and one barely moving. if you are able to take the switches apart try cleaning the connection to the window button, its a start. But personally it sounds like a bad motor.

it will not spin freely...is that a bad clutch or is this the end of my compressor??$$ or could it be a bad sensor, if it is any idea how much it costs and where it is??

I think my ac clutch might not work...when i turn the ac on in the car the light will flash and the compressor will not engage...i know for sure that the refrigerant is not leaking. tried a new relay that wasnt it. so i got a clutch from a local shop. can anyone tell me some symptoms of a bad ac clutch? i just want to make sure that is what it is . i havnt had much time to put it on this is the reason i am asking i wont be getting to it for about 1 more week....and that is 1 week to long in Florida.

sometimes people forget to unlock the little saftey key for the trunk and gas, i know I have done that before.if not im pretty sure it is the solenoid.... ill check the wire diagram to see if there is a relay for the gas door, when i get a chance tonight, that could be another possibility.

i think having him rebuild the rack for that much is a bit ridiculous... i would just have a new one put in...they run about $250-$300. do you have aftermarket rims? I know that on my 300 my tires follow big grooves in the road and the steering wheel will buckle when running over some holes in the road, as long as you are driving and let go of the wheel if the car doesn't pull drastically you should be ok... i think that is normal...if not, me and you are in the same boat!

damn the Stealership it will take them 5 seconds to do...same thing happened to me but i had only 1 wheel lock to get off i used the socket and hammer method...works, but i think people shouldnt be such douche bags and help a guy out. it will take them 90 seconds to do all 4 wheels...cry'n shame

figured it out... factory speakers cant handle all the juice from the cd player so i need to get new speakers....luckily my roommate actually had 4 SPEAKERS pioneer and he just gave them to me, i think becuase he drank all my milk...anyways to make things even worse...my driver window motor is going out...this is begining to be a nightmare.

thank you so much for the advice yes it was those stinkin cables!..plus while taking the panel off some screws holding the armrest kinda came undone....freaked me out but screwed them back on. and just one electrical ? I hooked all the speakers up and power wires and all. but when the volume on my cd player gets too loud it starts turning off and tries to turn back on but cant.... is this just a bad ground from the cd player. should i up the amperage on my fuse in the engine bay since i am not using the factory amp anymore???

I am trying to fix my speaker and run some wires through the door but i cannot get the panel off. I cant figure it out i take all the screws off and pop the panel. but it seems it is stuck around the handel door lock area... any pointers. i miss my radio and cant figure this panel out. thanks for the help folks.

sweet deal my friend, i too was lucky.. picked up a 97 5spd with 80k miles for only $4500 in almost perfect condition. u gots to love the toyota 2JZ!!!
