I called lexus to get the plastic peice that goes uner the engine to deflect air up. They want 150 for it. Thats crazy.

Does anyone have a cheaper solution?

Do you still have the original cover ? You can always manufacture your own . ;)

Buy one from lexus and do not install , but get the dimensions and lay it out on similar material , then return the unused cover .

What is wrong with the old cover ? They make plastic weld if it is the mounting holes .

get your old one out and use it as a mold to lay the carbon in and that shold do the trick. it will take time but it would be cool!!!!

okay really quick i need carbon fiber fabric and what else to give it that hard finish? i wanna get some and learn. anyone can give me the break down

well its just like fiber glass. you lay the carbon cloth, then brush on the epoxy resin. there are different resins for different applications and you repeat the resin and cloth laying a couple times untill you reach the desired thickness.

I HIGHLY suggest going to Fiberglast.com or www.selectproducts.com and getting the videos or studying up on it before you start. Dont start on carbon fiber either. go to WalMart and get the $10 fiber weave and practice, practice, practice. The only reason it looks so easy is because its usually professionals doing it. Dont get me wrong, its not impossible, but it takes alot longer to get the hang of it than people think.

yjamxs yeah i defiently gonna get the video and understand the concept, but i dont think ill have problems, im usually good with customizing and creating.

yea i agree with bean. its not as easy as it looks or as i described. you should try mold off of smaller things first to get the hang of it. i hear its really hard to get the weaves even and un kincked

I played with CF before and it is incredibly hard to get the weave looking completely right. I imagine with practice i could do it, but i dont know how they can get the weave looking as good as they do. Its not that hard to do, but practice on small stuff first and -mix properly -be patient

funny part is i fixed the cover under the car rigde it in a way to stay up, but still gonna start with the carbon fiber. i know alot of people who would pay good $$$ to C/F something for them.

Lol i can picture myself turning every part in my car to carbon fiber. Ohhhh No.

that's a real good way of getting killed in an accident.

i haave the same problem, that plastic piece broke on me so i just disregarded it. bad mistake people? i dont see the difference in cooling...and to think about it, air should be rushing up even more without it there.

No it doesnt that splits the air that comes under the car. half goes up and the rest back. Think of it like a a pipe something has to be there to deflect air upwards or else the aerodynamics of the bottom are screwed up.
