Direct from the 1993 Lexus Dealer Sport Coupe Brochure

"Don't let the fact that the SC300 has only six cylinders fool you. Its 24 valve engine is not only one of the hihgest output sixes you can buy (with even more power per displacement than some supercharged sixes), it also developes more horsepower than many larger V8's (1993)."

"...dual overhead camshafts directly operate four valves in each cylinder ... 45 degrees from intake to exhaust ... greater flow rates ... loves to rev..."

225 hp
forged steel crank - held by seven main bearings
a two piece oil sump that actually adds rigidity
Acoustic control induction system (ACIS) varies the length of intake runners - long at low revs and short at high
5 speed manual or 4 speed auto with ECT
10.0:1 compression ratio
High strength hot forged connecting rods with oil jets
Resin coated pistions - large valve diameter
1.23 hp per cubic inch

overall length - 191.1"
width - 70.5"
height - 52.4"
wheelbase - 105.9"
curb weight - (manual) 3495lb
headroom - 38.3/36.1"
legroom - 44.1/27.2
shoulder room - 56.0/52.7"
trunk space - 9.3 cubic feet
fuel tank capacity - 20.6 gal
engine - 3.0 liter inline 6
displacement - 183 cu. in.
vlavetrain - twin cam 4 valves per cylinder
bore x stroke - 3.39 * 3.39" (86mm)
compression - 10:1
225 hp @ 6,000 rpm
torque - 210 lb ft @ 4,800 rpm
fuel - premium unleaded
final drive - 4.08:1 manual, 4.27:1 auto
0-60 - 7.4
1/4 - 15.6
top speed - 146 mph
18/23 mpg
turning - 36.1 ft
drag coefficient - .32
weigth distribution - 54.5/45.5%
15.5lb/hp

Hope that helps - there's more but I'm bored now.

what year did Lexus switch over (for the SC400) to the 260HP engine from the 250HP? I know they did it in 1995 for the LS400....

An SC300 is definetly a good choice. The 2JZ GE motor that comes in it is the same motor that comes in the standard MKIV Toyota Supra. It's just like the 2JZ GTE except without the Turbo. Which isn't a big deal anyway, because if you want a Turbo all you do is bolt it on and it works without having to perform any other modifications first. The SC300 has so much potential, they are great stock, but are very easy to fix up. Several Supra parts that can be found at very low prices at junk yards will work in your SC300. Just adding a Turbo and an intake can boost your HP from 225 to just around 400 HP- that's not to bad.

You are correct. But it is not as simple as just bolting the turbos from the supra on there. The heads and manifolds are different. So a head and computer swap are required as well. A single turbo conversion would be easier. Otherwise - dead on.
