  2. I have a local shop do my oil changes for $27. discount tire will do the rotation for free since I bought tires from them, also fixed 3 slow leaks on my wifes car for free. Dealers are a ripoff. The 04 ES is the same motor and trans. as the Toyota v6 Camry. It's not rocket ship. I go to my Lexus dealer for warranty work, thats about it. Tim
  3. glad you found it. tell us more about your car when you have the time, tires, how many miles, color, etc. have a good day! Tim
  4. Hello, looking at my tool kit on my 04 es and noticed a clear tube coming from the wheel well and going down. .what is this for? When I lifted out the tool kit to look at the jack I noticed this tube. Thanks. Tim
  5. Just looked in my tool kit on my 04 and have the same space that looks like somethings missing. Good question. Someone know what its for? Tim
  6. Enjoy your new car. I have a 04 es and has been a great car. My locking lug nuts rusted, I replaced with the standard lug nut bought from the dealer. Get lug nuts or locking lug nuts from the dealer, that way you no they fit correctly and are safe. I assume you have the stock rims.. I'll look in my trunk tool kit to see If I have a open spot in mine. have fun with your new car, drive safe. Tim
  7. I have had several (7) LS', and 95-97 is the strongest in my mind, less nit picking problems.... just read the forum here.... the most troublesom is 90-94... I think the 98-2000 is pretty but I dont think they are as well built... that is JUST my 2 cents worth.... Thanks for the help. No rush to buy, driving es 330 04, wife has 04 Impala, both paid off. Great Bible study link. Have a great day. Tim
  8. Looking to possibly buy a used ls. What is the best year for reliability? Looking for a ls 400, not 430. Thanks Tim
  9. [ I just clean my es 330, check the tires, brakes, let someone else do the work. years ago I worked on a lot of GM Ford cars and trucks, changing motors, trans. just about everything, bodywork, etc. Did that for years. Worked with a GM tech. Did all the grunt work. Learned a lot, Don't have the room and the tools to do my own work. Found a good shop that works on Lexus. Go to the dealer for warranty work. Tim
  10. We will never no the full story on this. If the driver was a police officer I would think he would have some defensive driving training to control the car. Was he playing race car in the loaner? I had a es350 for a loaner and beat on a little just to see how much different it was from my es330. Very sad that this happened, people died. The brakes seemed strange on my es 350 loaner, but I feel thats because I wasn't used to the car. Hope Lexus-Toyota get the problem fixed. Still think they make a great car. Tim
  11. Hello, That sounds low, I have a 04 and I get around 19-20 if my wife drives and around 20 -22 when I drive. I use 89 octane, BP or mobil gas. Whats the mileage on the car, hows it running, could be a simple tune up, vacuum leak, bad gas, etc. More info on the car will help. Highway driving I get around 26-28 m.p.g. Tim
  12. hello, received a letter in the mail that stated my Lexus dealer would like to buy my car. anyone else get anything like this? They said its worth 13700 around that "black book" price. I won't do this, car is paid off. 04 es 67000 miles, great shape. Just wondering about this. Return add. wasn't from the dealer. Had my dealers address etc. signed buy sales person at my dealer. thanks. Tim
  13. Hello, back in the dealer again, 3rd time. Last time they said it was a axle seal. O.K. three days later more tranny fluid, more then before. Not a few drops but a small puddle. Not happy at all. I think they might have to pull the trans. Got a es 350 to drive. They pulled the drivers side floor mat so I don't go smashing into a tree or pole. Anyone heard any more about that recall with the floor mat sticking the gas pedal? See what happens with my car. Tim
  14. hello, car is in the dealer for the weekend. They are going to let it sit and if it leaks. i told them on short runs it did'nt leak. 14 15 mile runs it would. i have a rx 350 to drive all weekend, I hope they fix it, my warranty runs out March 2010, see what happens. I want my car back. the rx is great, but its not mine. let you know whats up. thanks Tim
  15. Hello, I'll find out when I take mine back. Still a leak. Looks like engine oil now. not 100% sure. Don't feel like jacking the car up, let the dealer check it. Glad its on warranty. I'll keep you posted. Tim 04es
  16. Hello, thanks for all the help, hope thats all it is. drove it for about 20 min. no leak. I'll check it again when I come home from work. My dealer has been great so far. I'll wait a few days and if it still leaks I'll take it back. thanks and have a great day. Tim
  17. Hello, the leak is not the pan, the bolts and gasket are where it bolts to the engine, and I think it still leaks. Checked it this morning and found one drop of fluid. Wiped the area clean, got some running around to do before I go to work. I'll check it again, if still leaking, back to the dealer. Not very happy about this. Car has great. Thanks for the reply. Have a good day. Tim
  18. Hello, my 04 es had small trans. leak. Took it in to the dealer, said the trans. had to be re-sealed. Looks like they replaced the bolts and a new gasket. Car has 66000 miles, I got the extended warranty, so it was free, also got to drive a is 250 AWD, that was fun. Anyone else have this problem? How often should I change trans. fluid and to flush or not to? Thanks for any info. Tim
  19. hello, not that bad, you got a good car, do a search and find the best way to clean the engine, I have a 04 es and and looking for a older ls like yours. Great cars, last forever. don't be too hard on yourself. take care. Tim
  20. Hello, the mark could a problem in the mold. I worked the molds for about 10 years, if a mold is not repaired correctly it can leave this kind of mark. The mold may have had some weld repair and it wasn't "color matched" properly. Could have been a problem with the "grain" in the mold. Looks like the mold had a bad "color match" and tried the cover it up when they repaired the grain. I"m a welder with over 30 years experience and seen this a lot. Hope it's just a scuf. Tim
