  1. Anyone think the government, who owns most of GM is in on this? Video on youtube, .U.S. government framed Toyota. Can't get the link to work. Found this on toyotanation.com under general discussion, conspiracy in the making.
  2. I agree, I have lost some trust in Toyota, Lexus and will take time to get that back. My 04 ES is a great car, but I have been paying a lot more attention to how it reacts with traction control in the snow, abs system and acceleration. I heard of a worker who lost a prototype I-phone and jumped to his death. Hope these guys don't do that. Tim
  3. I think part of the problem with this mess is with all the instant info. on cell phones, internet, tv, people want a instant fix. People speak and react too fast, want a answer now. I do myself. Info leaks out, gets twisted, and everyone sees it on their cell phones and internet. I remember my uncle had a Ford truck and the gas tank was right behind the seat. I could smell the gas while he's smoking. Scary. I don't know it there was a recall on that. The Detroit media is really beating them up on this. Wait and see what happens. Tim
  4. What is the difference between a voluntary recall and a corrective action ? :) I think nothing, it sounds better then a recall. Tim
  5. I think Ford called their fix a corrective action, not a recall. Tim
  6. What bothers me is all these super smart people in the auto industry and still a big ??? over this deal? I learned more about this problem on this site and others, and more info about my 04 ES then i get from the service guy or girl at the dealer. The parts man at my Lexus dealer seemed to know more then the service rep. On the way home from work, at 11:00p.m., with open roads, I tromped on gas a few times and the response is a little strange, a little delay and the it takes off like a rocket ship. Depends on RPM, gear its in. Very happy with the car. Did Toyota have to show someone the foot pedal was bad before the recall? The company I work for was doing bad, and the owners, from Israel, clean house from the CEO down to supervisors. We are busy now. Toyota needs to be honest and get this fixed. Keeping my ES for a long time, maybe buy a GS soon. Tim
  7. Nice car. No more then $14000. Been looking on line at some 02 GS300's. Found some with low mileage. I'll have to drive a distance, none in my area.Think I'll wait till better weather. What should I look for in a higher mileage GS 300? Problem areas, etc. Thanks for any help. Tim
  8. Just a thought, should Toyota and Lexus combine dealers? I think this brake problem with the Prius and now looking into the electronics of the cars is going to screw them bad. They need to be honest and get this fixed. I can see them downsizing in the future. My 04 es is a great car, and will continue to drive Toyota products. Tim
  9. I have 04 es since new. that sounds normal to me. mine is always around midway when warmed up. the 04 is a great car, take care. tim
  10. Good articles, good point. Time will tell if this fix is correct. I know some people that freak out with cruise control on and have trouble in a panic situation. The LS GS and SC are on there own platforms. My 04 ES is paid for, so I'll keep it. Next car I think might be a used GS. Hope they get this fixed. Tim
  11. hello, own a 04 ES, looking to buy a used GS in the near future. Looking at used GS 300. What is best year for this car? Thanks, any tips would be a great help. Tim
  12. put my 04 es in neutral on the way to work, no power to the wheels. I feel safe. good interview, interesting read about the Pontiac vibe on the truth about cars site. tim
  13. yes, something seem strange. I would like to see a video of someone testing an es 350 and doing a panic shutdown of the car, hard to re make a crash, Tim
  14. On the letter on the Toyota web site about the recall states , no Lexus division or Scion vehicles are affected. Nothing on the Lexus site. I thought the ES and IS were in the recall. Tim

    Gm Bait

See what GM is doing? they suck! I have a 04 ES and a 04 Impala. The Impala is a good car, but I don't care for this tactic there doing. Remember the Chevy Geo? Nova? Toyota cars. Who builds the some of there truck engines? Isuzu. What engine did the Saturn VUE v6 have? Honda. Tim

    Dealers

Panic is over. I'll keep it, great car. Even looked at a 02 Camry at a local GM dealer, only 10000 miles, v6, fairly loaded for 11800. Had a carfax, but still wonder about care of the vehicle, oil changes, etc. ES much more solid car then the Camry. I have a local shop, Toyota dealer, and my Lexus dealer all treat me good and good service. They'll fix this mess. Tim
  17. Or, GM Ford dealers say come on in Toyota, Lexus people, trade that pos in, buy one of our cars! but we can't give you any thing for because we can't get rid of it. Take a loan that you can't afford, buy our new cars! what do mean you live in Mich.? no job? sorry. guess I'll just keep my ES and hope Toyota Lexus service centers stay open for parts and some service. this sucks. Tim
  18. My 04 Impala's trunk latch is made in China, car made in Canada. Last time I ate Chinese food I got sick. Tim
  19. who's going to buy a new or used Lexus right now? I would sell my 04 ES, but I wouldn't get anything for it now. Just wait it out and see what happens. Are dealers going to lay all there people off and just keep service open? Tim

    Dealers

so what happens to Lexus and Toyota dealers if that can't sell these cars? How do stay open? Service only? Can Lexus sell the ES or IS? My 04 ES is a great car, paid off, 69000 miles. Keep it, sell it, don't know. Tim
  21. article came up with an error.. The 02 06 es are not effected. My 04 es seems fine. Use weather tech mats in the winter and don't use the hooks stock mats. The 06 to 10 ES and IS are in the recall. This really bothers me. I hope Toyota makes it through this. Pontiac Vibe is effected to, but GM won't recall them. My 04 es is a great car. I'll keep buying Toyota, Lexus. Tim found the article, hard to say what happened with that ladies o4 ES. Hope Lexus is looking into this. Tim

  23. Hello, just had my oil changed at a local Toyota dealer, lots cheaper then Lexus dealer, washed car, very happy to do work on Lexus. He said the steering had a clunking noise, very slight, I can barely hear it. 2004 es 69000 miles. He said they would pull the steering shafts, replace seals lubricate etc. 175.00. He said this was a common problem in the es and Camry. I said no, he was good about it, said just to keep it in mind. Any info on this would be helpful. service area just as clean as Lexus. Thanks. ]Tim
  24. $43k for an ES??? Yikes way too much for a es, I think the es is a great car, but what can i get used for 43 or less? ls, gs, I could get two older es cars for that. my 04 es with 69000 still runs and looks great. Tim
