Good luck with the search; I had a real hard time with my wife; she really liked a white one we found in Jersey but the Lexus dealership wanted to much for it. They actually said the price is higher because of the color (Blizzard is very popular). Back to the dvd thing I will try to attach the file how to swith so it will play while in drive. If nothing shows check out another site ( IHmud.com) or just search farther back in this site it has been done several times all you have to buy is a bypass wiring set (aprox $30) and just plugs right in to the harness behind the system. Hey you also said you wanted to go thru a private purchas but the warranty will only go to 50K miles thru a dealership you can get the certified vehicle to 100K. I guess you can purchase this seperatly but i may be expensive.

hey i forgot i important thing as of 2000 the tlc and lx had asc which is an important option and very important safty tool which you may want to consider does the brake thing on each wheel to stop skids or tipping over.

sorry that is wierd about the e mail thing well here are some of our research things we did before we got our 99 lx 470 we live in jersey close to phila several dealerships had lx's cherry hill lexus had 2 great ones but expensive (2000 for 46k with 55k miles and a 2001 with 33k miles but i cant remeber the price) well in florida were my sister lives we got a 99 with 55k miles for$28k) now the best thing i can tell ya is to look at autotrader and put in the places which you are familiar with and are willing to travel to. now once again we did not want to spend 30k to a private sealer at least with a dealership you know you can go back to tell and stuff like that besides we actually financed 1/2 because the interest rate was low as well. now i might get some people angry at me here but from 98 to 2005 the outside body is exact (on a 2004 they have a extra reverse light set up on the license plate area) nothing else is different. now the inside changes from 2000 interior is nicer plus navigation is offered i dont know what year the transmission changed either 2000 or 2001. nothing else changed outside or motor wise. now we were also shopping for a land cruiser which i usually not as nice interior wise but there are some models fully loaded that are nice both vehicles run forever i have seen an lx with 180,000 selling for 18k in north jersey which i thought was a high price. now as for care 60k miles is a big service for the vehicle fairly expensive if i can thinalso so if the vehicle has more then that make sure they did the service also 90k is the timing belt which is not hard but labor intensive and costs alot. tires and brakes usually depend on the owner driving style so watch for that but as for problems with the veichle there are none; a gasket problem sometimes but no real mechanical ones.if i can think of other things i will post them again just do your shopping we saved clse to 15k buy buying our truck in floirda (spent 150 for airfare to fly down for me & the wife and then 120 in fuel cost to drive back to jersey

all 98 and above are good basically you have to decide how much you want to pay; also shop around with gas prices going up you may find a really good deal but best advice to give ya is to go thru lexus dealerships becasue you can get a certified one with a warranty up to 100k bumper to bumper. Private sale wont get ya that. I recently did a lot of shopping around email me if you want some of the places (floirda and New Jersey) it may sound crazy but we saved close to 15k on the purchase and the road trip was actually fun.

I'm in Philly and it does that someitmes during the summer and parked in the sun; it never completly stopped i just had to keep trying it for a while and then it would opne the doors.

i have an older model lx but my friend has a gx which has a similar problem but they believe its because of attempting to get dvds to play while driving. screen goes blank, turns on and off by itself, and shows various error messages. not fixed yet. sorry i will try to call him he lives in florida

the 2005's get the variable timing; lots of models are getting it the lx, gx, and the full size pick ups. just go to the dealerships you may even get a super deal on a 2004 if the dealer has one; some one on this site paid 58 and change for a brand new one.

hey post some pics as soon as you get the bar on. I have not had the time to mod my lx and actually have not found many companies that make products for the lx seen lots for the land cruiser. so far all i have is a snorkel. ( still in box a lot of good it does there huh?)

the land cruiser will never be axed; the lx will because of sales and profit margin. the gx has been around under the name of prado in other parts of the world. I f you go any where in asia or africa all you see are land cruisers mostly because they work and dont need constant repairs.

You guys fail to understand that it costs a lot to build these (thelx and the land cruiser) plus they have to pay tariff on each vehicle. The seqoia is built here in the us and costs a lot less to build so they have a higher profit margin.

i actually read that the lx is gone after 2005 only the land cruiser will be left the sequia is going to be used for the next lexus model in 2006.

he is correct the dealer must disclose its a buy back now here is a tricky point they some times do this before the vehicle is termed a lemon ( 3 trys to fix and still not done) so then it is not considered a lemon! so yo have to be careful with the questions; now dont get upset if it is not lexus has a great warranty and shold fix all the problems. the bump at stops is a simple drive shaft problem not sure what else is wrong with your vehicle good luck! oh the reason I know about the lemon law stuff i had a big problem with a Jeep Grand Cherokee which i got repurchased for a lemon.

hello iam new here but you got the answer right; the gx is actually the prado in all other parts of the world and was originally a right hand drive until they decided to ship to the us also many many people are short and can not reach the lift up hatch which is another reason they have the swing gate; dont laugh or get angry at me it true the prado had this door for many years and if it was a problem they would not have put it on the Lexus.

hello not sure when you were there but this is a big problem for the gx and they are way back ordered for the driveshaft so they are not giving you the run around i heard 2 to 3 months for wait time?? i am sure the Lexus people are working on it becasue this is a big problem for them and they have a lot running on the gx

your service guys are either not well informed or dishonest; its a simple drive shaft which needs to be replaced with a newer model; The torque from the engine was to much for the drive shaft and thus the problem. I think the new one will be made of nickel but not sure. this is an old problem they should have told you i do know the parts are back ordered.

the 2005 is suppose to get the variable timing thus an increase in horsepower; if i remeber correctly 285 not sure of that figure all else the same
