  1. Don't forget about the 60K service right around the bend. There are PLENTY of really nice LS400 cars out there. I would recommend getting a 95 or newer car with a few more miles on it for the same price. There are a ton on really nice 95+ LS400 cars out there to fit your budget. Maintenance history is more important than actual mileage, in my opinion. Good luck, George
  2. Any vendors out there selling suspension stuff for the LS400? My EVO and LX470 site has many folks ready to take care of your needs. I have found that many vendors have helped me diagnose issues with my cars and at the same time sell their solutions. It seems to be a win/win. Shared knowledge sells solutions. Regards, George
  3. My 96 LS400 had the same problem. I had my stereo repair shop fix it for about $125. The dealer wanted to replace the entire deck for something like $750. My 99 LX470 had the in dash 6 disc player which stopped working, that repair was about $450 at the same shop. If you have a good car audio shop, they can uauslly fix them, or know where to send the unit. You can also do a google search of fixing the lexus decks and do the removal and install yourself. I liked having my local shop warranty the repair and installation. The LS400 deck was a pain to take out. I watch him do it. The LX470 was amazingly simple. George

    Shocks

Thanks for the reply. I thought about getting under the car and spraying all the bushings with silicone spray. What do you think? George

    Shocks

Hi, My 1996 LS400 has a creak when going over a speed bump or any bump really. It's probably the bushings. The shocks were replaced at about 60K and the steering rack was recently replaced with new bushings. Anyone else have this issue? George
  6. You should see the Elk here in Arizona. I hunt in area one, here in AZ. This area holds the record bull elk in the USA. Check out my property at www.antlerridge.com. Great 4wheeling up there and here in Tucson, where I live. Regards, George

    Tires

It depends on what you want in a tire. The Michelin LTX M/S is hard to beat for a street/mild offroad truck. The nitto terra grappler and the BF Goodrich AT is best for street/offroad. Go to www.tirerack.com and enter your vehicle info. This will give you most of the tires available for your truck. George
  8. The winch is on. It fits inside the new bumper. George
  9. The LX470 will lift the truck 3" at the push of a button. Great feature. The tires are 285/75/16 BFG 8 ply AT's. Not stock size, but much better fit for the truck. I use Optima batteries and I keep a jumper battery pack in the truck. This allows me to have one battery with backup power ready if needed. George
  10. Tell me what you think. It was the only to get a winch installed. Nice fit and awesome bumper. http://home.comcast.net/~darling18/August_...pt_2004_161.jpg George
  11. Hi, THIS LINK DOESN'T WORK Check out the installed ARB Safari Bumper installed on my 1999 LX470. Go to this link. http://www.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/Alb...941/t_=14265035 George
  12. You have a bad switch. Both of mine went south and the dealer fixed it. It was under $100 for the part plus labor. They wanted to replace both mirrors. I knew it was the switch. Lexus was willing to cover 75% of the cost of both mirrors. Lexus USA called the dealer and ended up replacing the switch when they put some pressure on them. George
  13. I had a 1996 landcruiser and I towed a Mako 251 to Mexico. The transmission started going south at 104K. This is a heavy boat and I always kept the OD off. My 1999 Lx 470 seems to do better, but my understanding is that I have the same transmission that was in the landcruiser. I have my partner do most of the towing with his Surburban. George
  14. I purchased it from Man-A-Fre. www.man-a-fre-com They specialize in Landcruisers. I'm having my mechanic do the install. George
  15. My ARB Safari bumper and winch finally came in. Took over two months to get here from Australia. I'll post pictures next week. George
