Hello my friend is interested in the new gl mercs; he knows i go off roading sometimes and wanted to know if i knew of the set up they had or if it is just a large version of the ml. any thoughts?

hey there i have had my 06 for about 6 months now and the power is better; especially on th hgway but these are now built in a new plant in japan so try to get a late build i have had several quality control problems with mine (mirror broke/sun roof rattle/pass window wont go up or down) very upsetting for a 70k car but as much as i complain the truck is great we had a snow storm here a few month back and had18 inches of snow i had to drive to work twice; the first time i had first tracks almost all the way in ;no plows insight. oh as for gas milage it sucks

sorry for my short cuts i forget that it does not come out when typing the new is has lots of neat little features and the ls has all the new gadgets i wish the lx had the cooling seats etc.

i have a new 06 because my 99 got smashed and was unhappy with the repair as for comfy seats these are not that good just got back from virginia beach and my !Removed! was hurtin anyway the 4wd was great did some minor beach stuff did not want to get in to the soft stuff b/c i did not want to air down b/c i had no way of airing back up (no gear yet in truck) i had my 99 for 5 years and it was great i miss her alot i think the seats just have to get broken in (i hope) i driv from jersey to florida 1 or 2 x's per year and not looking forward to my but hurtin again. i did not do that much research but i do know that these trucks do not have all the items you can get like an ls or even a gs and is now a days. they may change that in the new 07 but you may not get the reliability this design

oh i forgot i would keep the 01 the only reason i got an 06 is because my 99 was in a crash and the body shop did not do a good job they actualy did but my hood keep bubbling up and it was right in my line of sight when driving and just got me in a bad mood they painted it twice so after that i was just frustrated and traded it in.

wow thats great i agree the dunlops are terrible i want to switch mine out does anyone know how the tire press thing works on the rims?

hey i will give my 2 cents worht here i am a previous grand ch owner (took over 8 months to get chrysler to buy back my vehicle because of a cpu problem which caused the car to stall constantly "lemon law") the trouble i had to go through for them to fix the jeep was horrible i would never in my life recommend buying one and i have had several (wrangle/ cherok/ then grand cher yj/then the wj) I will say this they are excellent 4w drive vehicles but at some point you have to consider reliability into the equation. With some planned mods we will do moab this summer and maybe some others but i still give a thumbs up to the moms lexus guy at least he takes the truck out and not just to the mall=:)

hey i forgot to ask were did the water come in? I'm curious because i have been with water about mid door level in normal mode not raised up and had none come in. I have been looking to make it a bit more tight but no ideas yet.

hey mom lexus great story dont listen to the others about poor judgement you learn from your mistakes next time make sure its not as soggy as for the 9000lb winch when you are stuff bad you are pulling the truck plus all the mud and stuff with you so i believe you. i have been stuck in damp sand and had to land cruisers pulling with tow straps but no luck had to get a tow truck and even he had a hard time but finally got us out post the pictures

we currently have a 99lx which is due for the 60k service and were considering getting a new lx; has any one purchased an 05 or 04 late and if so what was the price paid thanks; we looked at an 04 land cruiser back in december and the offer was 56k but that dealership does not have any vehicles now.

wow thanks for the post i thought the 2004's can not be done becasue they changed something mine is older so i dont have this problem but my friend has a 2004 gx and tried to change his a wrecked it but this is a company car so he does not care ( i know i wish i can be like that)

not sure if this applies to were you live but if there is a lexus dealerships near by the toyota dealership will not work on your lexus now the price is because of lexus its less then half at toyota for the land cruiser 60k now i have heard of people getting into trouble because service places using incorrect fluids etc and causing breakdowns (hydr susp) get a list from the dealership for the 60k service it is pretty detailed not just fluid change but you are paying for the lexus service

this is a known problem with the land cruisers and lx 2 part problem first with th lx is that lexus does not want people to tow heavy itmes because of the automatic height control seems the pumps heat up and wear out they have actually lowered the tow weight to 5000lbs from 2004 on i believe the other problem is theattachment of the hitch does not hold up under heavy use for long periods of time (tongue weight i think they call it) they have looked into it but its to costly to fix or change and will be changed on the new model in 2006

hey i have to chime in on this one being a former grand cherokee owner; the jeep has a excellent 4 wheel drive sytem which is better the the lx but i have to say the vehicle is unreliable so what good is the system if other parts of the vehicle brake down!!! thats why i got a lx. I have not done any trips yet with my lx but i have done utah moab and several carolina beach trips and the jeep performed great but that back in your mind worry about mechanicle failures just is not worht it. I have to say that in basic form the lx wins because of clearance issues but i had my jeep lifted and had larger tires.

no way you should be angry this is a deffinet design problem which they have not put all there resources behind it to fix the one thing which everyone shuld note is that all the repair technicians do not have the same story so hq has not address the problem yet. As a previous jeep grand cherokee owner with the exact proble it took some time to fix but at least they said they will fix it. now you may have a hard time with the lemon law because its not a direct safety problem and the vehicle still works but 3 fixes are all thats needed. We got our jeep bought back as a lemon a few years ago; with the deal i had to get a new jeep which we did and then traded in right away for a different car.

thanks for the info on the site i have to get tires first and luckily my daughter is only 18 months so i have some time id you have any trouble fitting the unit in the center??? and did it run off your factory radio or completly independent

i read that the lx will be the same i think i few more tricks with the nav and the heads up display night vision but the engine is the same the gx and 4 runner get the variable valve timing not so for the lx i have not seen anything else now i do know the 05 is the last year for the lx they will begin to use the sequoia base and turn it into a lexus version

hey grd what size tires are you running on your lx i have to get new ones soon and want to get a little bigger size but i am all confused by what is the max tire size which will fit plus form the ihmud site some people tell me that some of the rims are 16 and not 18 which i thought were on the lx 470. sorry it has taken me so long to respond and post stuff but my wife is away for work and i am being the single parent dont have much extra time to spend on the computer. thanks

hey george did you add the winch and bumper yourself? and which size winch did you get i have been stalling on the winch and bumper for some time and will order soon so it comes by spring i guess; by the way i dont like the crome bar that goes on the top and some one told me it can be just un bolted is that true???

Thanks for all the responses; did not want to put all the details of the problem because its paper work and thought most would not be interested. Well here is the problem I purchased the truck in florida and we live in new jersey so they gave me a out of state temp tag and we had to register it in new jersey so i filled out the forms and sent them all out well the temp tag expires so i call them and they admit the error and send me anohter temp tag; now this one is about to expire and still no progress. Do any of you have the Lexus customer service number?
