  1. Yes. The Lexus LX470 sold in New Zealand has a 96 litre main tank and a 45 litre sub tank. Total litres come out to 141.
  2. I have been reading that the next Lexus Lx will be based on the Sequioa platform. I really don't think that this will happen because the Sequioa is up for a redesign likely a year after the new Tundra. So if the LX will use the Sequioa platform then the truck would likely have to be using the next Sequioa platform which would be most likely based on the next Tudnra. What I think will happen is that the next Lx will grow slightly larger in size comparable to the Sequioa but not as big. Toyota does not lose a lot of money having the Land Cruiser/Lx470 in their lineups because they are a world wide platform than just North America. You don't see Sequioas over seas but their are Lx470 and Land Cruisers all over the world so North America is only a small part of the market. The other thing is that the LX470 is not just a luxury SUV (which the Land Cruiser is) but the LX470 is a PREMIUM luxury SUV which is really at the top. The LX470 far surpases the Infiniti QX, the Navigator and the Escalade but does not necassarly top the Range Rover or the Mercedes G wagon. Another thing to consider is that Lexus will really do their homework with the next Lx by listening to existing owners wants and what the market wants. It is uncommon for Lexus to fail but it has with their IS300. The new Lexus LX will not fail because that is the flagship truck in the lexus lineup. What I can see happening for the next Lexus Lx will be a slightly larger body which will be just smaller than the Sequioa. An whole new frame that will be shared with the Land Cruiser, a new 5.4 liter engine that will be derived from the new Tundra and the same full time 4wd system. The front end will still have the 4 head lights and will still resemble the existing Lx. The price will NOT rise nor will it fall and the interior will have all the luxury trimmings of the new Lexus models. That is my take.
  3. Well my parents have a Toyota 4runner with the same full time system, v8. vsc etc. It was the first major snow storm since they purchased it and i was at their house and I needed to run an errand. I have to say the full time four wheel system is incredicble, there was no sliding, no swirving, nothing. I really hammered the gas real hard on my parents street with nobody on the road that the thing would lose control. Compaired to my 4x4 tundra I would much rather have the full time system instead of the part time system. The lexus/toyota full time system is a real good option if you are looking for an suv.
  4. I do know that the LX470 which is sold overseas comes equipped with an HID headlight system. It also comes with a back up sonar sensing system as well. So they do make the parts for the Lx470 you would just have to find it. Lexus Saudi Arabia Scroll down a little and you will see Xenon light and Xenon lamp center
  5. <_< Robert, I hope this works out for you. This weekend, we traded our MDX on a GX. Got sick and tired of the minor but numerous problems with the MDX. It was in the shop five times in 18 months. The MDX is not as quiet or as comfortable as the GX, and the interior materials do not compare. Some people mistook the MDX for a minivan as well, which drove my wife crazy. I hope you are as happy with your MDX as we are with our new GX. Ours is riding great, tracking well, and is loaded with quality. And the Lexus dealer treats us like...Lexus customers! ← The only reason one would trade a GX for a MDX is to have cheaper monthly payments. The GX is a true luxury SUV, the MDX while nice, is built off the Honda Odyessy Mini-van platform. Apples to Oranges. ← The GX470 and the MDX should not even be compared. There are not even geared to the same type of buyer. The way I look at it: The Lx470 is a "premium luxury" suv The Gx470 is a "luxury" suv The Rx330 is a "entry level luxury" suv. The MDX is also a "entry luxury" suv. Compare a MDX to a Rx330, not a Gx.
  6. With my Tundra I can see a big difference between 87 octane and 91. I have been using 91 for a while now and I get a little better gas mileage which I believe offsets the increased costs. The truck just feels like it has more torque when I run 91. Are there any differences between the Tundra/Sequioa 4.7 and the LX470, GX470, 4runner? I think there are some differences. For one, my parents have a 4runner with v8 and the way it is bolted in the engine bay is a littler different with the air filter and such. Another thing, the Tundra's spark plugs are the cheaper kind compared to my parents 4runner. The plugs on my truck only last till 30K or something like that while the 4runner's last longer. Whether or not these differences are the reason for the truck needed premium is beyond me. I am also convinced that my Tundra really does require premium but Toyota says it doesn't to keep pickup buyers still interested. I am sure the die hard pick up guy who REALLY needs a pickup for the farm will be pretty turned off when he finds out he needs premium. So Toyota just says, regular.
  7. I would have to disagree. For someone who needs a truck that will go offroad they are much better off having a body on frame vehicle than a unibody. Nissan went away from the body on frame design on the current Pathfinder but will go back to the body on frame design in their upcoming replacement Pathfinder.
  8. weird how they don't make it available to the LX470, when the LX is more expensive than the GX! ← Toyota is such a strange company. I have a Toyota Tundra Limited 4x4. What I find really weird is that all the buttons and switches are backlite at night as well as the one AUTO button on the drivers side, but power door lock switch, passenger side switches and the power mirror switches are not backlite at night. Same thing goes for my parents 2004 4runner, no backlite switches but the truck has lighted cupholders at night. . Some of the cheapest cars that the world knows (Sunfire etc) will even backlight these switches but not Toyota. . Another thing I find strange is that they have removed underhood lights from almost all Toyotas that I know of. I not sure about Lexus, maybe someone can let me know if there are underhood lights.
  9. From Lexus.com under the GX470 section/. Multi-adjustable power front seats with power lumbar support From Lexua.com under the LX470 section. Multi-adjustable power front seats with driver's-side power lumbar support
  10. I have noticed that there is this little attachment to the driver side wiper blade on the Lexus Lx470. It is only on the driver side and not on the passenger side. Anyone know what this part does? I imagine it is for the wind but what does it really do and how? Thanks.
  11. That is really unfortunate that you did not enjoy your GX470. I have read in many sources that the ride of the GX is not that good and the winds cause the vehicle to go off track. Other than that, the GX is a truck more than a car based SUV so that will happen. My parents have a 2004 Toyota 4runner which is the platform of the GX and I must say that the ride is perfect. Did you ever try the 4runner? The 4runner is not as tall or roomy as the GX. Good luck with your MDX, you should have endless miles of enjoyment as that SUV is one of the higher rates SUVs.
  12. Unfortunately, this is a quote from MotorTrend.com "...2006 Lexus VX 470: Replacing the Land Cruiser twin LX 470 is a luxury version of the larger Sequoia." So, I guess the 2005 is safe for now. http://motortrend.com/future/spied/112_2006fvf/index3.html I don't know about MotorTrend. MT has been known to make mistakes.
  13. I really can't see Lexus changing the LX470 to a Sequioa based platform for a number of reasons. First, Toyota and Lexus has no trouble whatsoever selling the Land Cruiser and Lx470 all over the world. It is not like these trucks don't sell in various parts of the world. Seocnd, even though Toyota does not sell as many Land Cruisers as Sequioa they still do sell them effeciently in America. The Sequioa is a different vehicle designed for American people especially mom's and families. The Land Cruiser is a niche vehicle which is sold to dedicated Land Crusier lovers. Third, the only Lexus that is not built in Japan is the RX330 which is built in Ontario Canada. Lexus builds the LX470 in Japan all with the GX470, 4Runner and Land Crusider. The Sequioa is built off the Tundra platform and is built in the US for American people that is why it is larger than the Cruiser and LX470. This is my opinion on the whole deal.
  14. I am not talking about a redesign. I am talking about some changes to the 2005 model. The Lexus GX470, 4Runner and Land Cruiser will get these changes to the engine as well.
  15. The 2005 Lexus LX470 will now have a 4.7 vtti with 270 hp and 330lb of torque. It will also have a system similar to Cadillac perfomance algorithim shifting. Interior changes will be posted once they become available.
