  1. I've lived in California most of my life and not all of the state is filled with smog. It's mostly in the populated areas like San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and San Diego. I live near Palm Springs now and can see for miles until I drive into the LA area. :P

  2. greggebhardt, I would go to the dealership you bought it from and explain you disappointment and demand they replace, not replate your emblems. I just replaced my emblems on my '97 LS. They look so good!

Let us know what action you take and your results. ;)

  3. Wellcome "Newbie", you will find a wealth of information, suggestions and great people here. 99.9% of the comments are possitive and most are from experiance not just guessing. Let us know when you buy your Lexus and ask any questions you may have.

  4. I had another thought. When you have the A/C on is it in the recirculating or fresh air mode? You want it in the "fresh air" mode as much as possible. After using the A/C and parking your car, does it drip water? If not, your drain lines might be plugged.

  5. 90LS400Lexus, the cover that you are missing is around $120 at the dealership, or much less at a wrecking yard. I have a '97 LS and plan on chaning mine out. Where it covers the oil filter has broken off and I would like to keep it in perfect shape.

  6. 99lsguy, I played the Palmer Private course at PGA yesterday. B)

I guy I played with had the new Taylormade driver, what a great driver!

I just got my springs and new logos. I get my torque wrench back from Snap On on Monday.

Anyone know a good place to get new rotors and pads?

  7. I found this on AOL and thought I would share it.

    2005 Lexus RX400h. On sale: fall 2004

2005 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. On sale: early 2005

These two midsized SUVs share the same gasoline engines in their conventional versions. As hybrids they will share the same powerplant and drive system as well. Both vehicles will use a 3.3-liter V6 engine combined with Toyota's hybrid powertrain, producing a claimed 270 hp. Fuel economy is said to be 27.6 miles per gallon, with a cruising range of more than 600 miles. Toyota claims both models will offer performance superior to the conventionally powered versions.

Both front- and all-wheel-drive versions will be offered. The AWD versions will feature a second electric motor to power the rear wheels. This system should save weight by eliminating the driveshaft that runs between the engine and the rear wheels. Toyota claims the Highlander Hybrid will be the first seven-passenger hybrid SUV when it goes on sale in early 2005.

  8. 99lsguy, I had the rears done by a local shop just after I got the car 4 yrs. ago. I did the fronts about 3 yrs. ago. So, I'm not sure if grease was put on both sides of the shims. I want to replace the pads and the rotors some time this summer (same time I do my struts and springs).

When are we going to play golf 99ls? I played today B)

I'm still looking for info on ceramic vs. oem pads :whistles:

  9. TexasLexus94, two thoughts come to mind. First is get an adapter to go from 3/8" to 1/2" and use a breaker bar. Second is put the wrench back on (with the closed end) and grab the next size up wrech, take the extra wrench and the put it on the end of the other. I send a pic. if you need it. (old mechanics trick)

  10. jkosasih is on the right track. One thing to consider is that most batteries will only last 3-4 years. Sudden changes in weather can be the final blow to a battery. The first few days of summer with warmer temps or winter with cooler temps can effect the battery if it is on it's way out.

Please let everyone know what your results are. ;)

  11. streetkit, I have a '97 LS and have had it for almost 5 years. The pedal does feel a bit lower than most cars. It just takes some getting used to. :)

I'm still looking for some input on ceramic pad vs. oem. I'll be replacing them in the next month or so. Any comment would be great.
