  1. Welcome & congrats on the new Lexus.

You will find lots of helpful comments here. I found this site just 3 months ago and visit it 4+ times a day (kind of addicted to it)

Enjoy your new too you Lexus! B)

I'm sure someone will know where the paint code is and will respond in the next day or so.

  2. slate67, I think what skperformance was trying to say is that it would be better to have the locks from the dealer. One reason it that they fit just right on original wheels.

I would not worry to much about a little rust on the locks themself, especially if it just wipes off so easy. You must be in a hight humidity area. I live in the desert and I don't think I could have rust if I tried.

  3. Thanks Steve, I'll give #16 a try. Does PwC meen that I should do another layer of Polish w/Carnuba? Then use the EX Sealer w/Carnuba (how many layers?) and then top it off with #16.

Wife's van is "Desert Sand" '04 Sienna Limited, would the #16 work good on this also or would you recommend another product?

Thank you for all your comments.

When is the wedding?!? B) I've been married 8 years.

  4. We did the garden hose test tonight with someone in the trunk

Hey bossman, you read my mind. I used to be the guy in the truck when our shop had a car with similar problem. Just me and my flash light :( .

If the crack is small enough I would use some silicone, if it's larger might use some body filler. If it's in a highly visable area I'd have a body shop take care of it and paint to match.

Let us all know what you decide to do B) .

  5. Hi Steve, I did 2 coats of 1Z paint polish, 2 coats of Poorboy EX polish w/ carnueba (?spelling). I have not had a chance to do the the EX sealer yet. Not sure what Meguiar's products I'm going to use. I am open to any suggestions you may have for a light color like mine. BTW it's a light green, not silver. I posted pics in the LS gallery, page 46 I think.

  6. So, you should replace the brakes before the light comes on, so the sensors wouldn't mess up?

Yes, replace brakes BEFORE the light comes on. The light comes on when ther is very little time before you are metal to metal. Change the pads before the sensor makes contact with the rotor, it saves you $$. B)

  7. In my '97 LS owners manual it shows that if a light comes on that looks like and "O" with some dashes around it, than your brake pads are worn . They call it a "Brake Pad Wear Limit Warning Light." I know on my car there are 2 sensors both on the right side brakes (one front one rear). You don't want to let your brakes get that worn down, the sensors are about $70-80 each and must be replaced if the light comes on.

  8. None-the-less, I'll take you up on your offer. Please remove me form the Lexus Owners Forum.

    Been a real pleasure.

    Jim

So sad to see Jim go

Just think if everytime someone disagreed with another member that person left this forum. There wouldn't be anyone left. Opinions are like certain body parts, everyone has one.

  9. No LCD's burnt out on my '97 LS.

I also bought my car from a Lexus dealer off of a 3 year lease. It had 33,000 miles on it then and has 79,000 on it now.

I'm going to be replacing the struts and springs this summer. Front struts are leaking a bit at the top.

I'm a little disappointed to hear of suspension parts; at only 79,000 miles?

Was your car not a cpo? that should be covered if it is, unless it's considered normal wear, which it shouldn't be!

    Bob

Hi Bob, yes it was a "CPO" but that warranty is only good for 5 years from the "Original Date of Purchase." I figure at almost 80,000 miles they are worn out. If it was an American car I would have done struts 50,000 miles ago. :D
