  1. Do you have Bridgestone's I had a trouble keeping them balanced?
  2. I have a 98 LS400 with 130,000 miles on it. I started my car when it was 17 degrees(F) out and the car idled at 1500 RPM and continued to idle at this speed after car got to operating temp. I drove the car for 60 miles and the same thing occurred. I pulled my car into a heated garage and turned it off, and let it cool. I then restarted the car and since then the car has been operating normally, idling at 750 RPM. On a cold start, outdoor and motor temp, it idles at 1500 and has a very slight vibration to it. It feels like an oscillation of a motor or a possible flooder in the fuel system. It goes away after the engine warms up. I have been told that it is possibly the throttle control motor with magnetic clutch, or the same part called an IAC, idle air control valve. These are commonly replaced on American made cars, but I have found no such history for Lexus. Fuel mileage has not changed since I have experienced this. If you have had this problem or have any info for me, please respond.
  3. Michelin MXV4+, Bridgestone Tauranza LSV, Go with the Michelin's I had the Bridgestones they were loud and hard after 30,000
  4. I also live in the Chicago Northwest Suburbs. I also have a '98 LS 400 with a 122,000 on it, and I've had my 90 thousand service done on it. I might have a name and number for a Lexus Tech that will do it on the side. Where do you live? Jeff
  5. I have a 1998 LS 400, with 122,000 miles, in which the Y-pipe coming off the converters has a slight hole in it underneath the heat shield. Has anyone had this problem and any idea on cost.

  8. If you go to your local parts dealer, and tell them that you want a "Loaded Brake Caliper". It will contain the bracket that you need, but will not contain the new bolts that you need. Any good parts store will have these. If you need a number for a good parts store, 815-455-1300. They have the part that you need.
  9. I'm a certified brake tech, Raybestos ceramic brake pads have had a terrible problem with warping rotors. I've seen it several times on different cars, not only the LS. After market rotors are just as good as OE, but not zinc coated, so you will see rust on the hat of the rotor.Go with the Akebono pads they are OE on many Toyota's.
  10. Check the wheel bearing it sounds like the senser is out of alignement.
  11. I have 4 new chrome center caps that i want to get rid of for $25
  12. I have a 98 LS400, 115,000 mi. extremely well maintained. All service intervals met. The check engine light came on after leaving the car running while I refueled. I disconnected the battery to turn the light off, drove another 300 miles;without the light coming back on, and refueled with the car running again (due to the cold weather). I drove 15 miles and the light came on again. The car runs flawlessly, with the fuel mileage around town being 21 MPG. I took the car to AutoZone to have them read the codes, and it came up a 0136; bank one, sensor two. I believe that means the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter, left side. Remember the car is still running flawlessly. The price for a direct replacement Bosch O2 sensor is $90, DIY. Does anyone have any history on this same problem or on the code that came up, just to make sure I have it right. I am the second owner of the car, since 70,000. The car has only ever used 93 octane Shell fuel. Any help would be appreciated. Jeff
  13. I have the Bridgestone Turanza LS-V on my 98 LS they are great in rain and snow but after 30k miles they are getting very very loud!!! I wont go with these again
  14. Thanks for the reply, What kind is yours and what do you mean by hit the memory ?
  15. Does anyone have a remote starter on a LS?? I'm hearing that they might not be a good idea because of all of the computer systems
  16. I had mine done on my 98 LS at the dealer @ 90,000 miles for a total of $855.00 OUCH!!!!
  17. Here is a picture of my '98 with the side lights added in. Very easy to do. Just follow the procedures in above post.
  18. I also have a 98 LS and just rep;aced the left motor mount at 100,000. The right side is still in excellent shape. All of the torque from the motor taxes the left side of the motor, not the right. Save the money and do just the left. I had it done at the dealer for a total of $ 161.00
  19. Hey Blake, I have the Turanza LSV ON MY 98 LS and they have 35k on them now and they are making more and more road noise than ever. How do you like the mxv+ tires?
  20. Well if the original 4 wheel alignment was done properly, correnct air pressure maintained & no curb hits or really nasty potholes were struk, I don't see the alignment or balancing being the problem. (Are those LS-V tires 'directional' or uni-directional?) Also I think the rotations should be done every 10,000 kms, not 20,000 to be honest. B) ←
  21. I have a 98 LS 400 with Bridgestone turnzas on it. They have 35k on the tires and I am now getting a little bit of sound that sounds like loud tires or a bearing going bad. Does anybody have any history with either problem?
  22. I have the same car , I also had the sme clunk over small bumps so I had the strut rods replaced. The car now drives and sound like a new one! I had 95000 when it was done Goog Luck
  23. I just replaced front strut rods, ball joints (lower) and rear carrier bushings. It made a huge diffrence in the way it drives, sounds and handles. Total cost of parts and installation $ 1100.00 all new Lexus parts!!! Don't use anything else they are the best for your LS. At 100K it's well worth the money, good luck
  24. Ask Meist 21 he has the part #, but it is an Autozone common stock #
  25. Autozone has them. I used the one's for a camry they fit just like oem parts for a total of 16.95 each.
