  1. Mann777, many thanks for this. That TSB refers to the 2004 model, mine is 2005. And my colour is dark blue (8R4). I've checked here, it gives all sort of end suffixes for various colours. For mine, it reports 75867-60020-J0. Do you know if that's the latest? Also, do we have any public site with TSBs?
  2. On my GX470 2005, they recommend regularly checking it but don't change unless required. Recently checked it manually (by slightly releasing the screw under the bottom and allow a minor leak of the transmission fluid) -- it's still very transparent and I was said it doesn't need to be replaced.
  3. Indeed, removing the bulb from under the hook should work. Remove the plastic cover under the hood and get your hand in there, turn the bulb's (plastic) basis counter clockwise and you'll take it off. Any hand size will do. Removing the left-side bulb is harder, you may need to remove the battery.
  4. Anyone familiar with the format of offline maps on navigation disks???
  5. The cheapest compatible sensors I was able to find were Orange Electronic TO35010 ($37.30 per each). Hope to get them in a few more weeks, will revert with feedback.
  6. Was this post helpful to anyone? I can continue posting or will drop it if no indication of interest
  7. (truly hope moderators will allow this thread, as it's designed to help others) Would it help the community to know websites from which you can buy compatible spare parts at prices below the official Lexus dealers' ones? If so, share your experience. Names cited below are delivered from this forum and online search: NB: Entertain this at your own risk; no-one guarantees that third-parties' proposal are better than of Lexus dealers. NB 1: Be aware, I've not purchased anything yet from the sites listed in this post, just searched for this forum and the web for where to buy from. NB 2: I would hope users will provide views on experience for this or that website/seller (and add more to my list), and we all could review it critically (rather than emotionally) and develop guidelines for selves. 1. Websites helping to identify the spare part you need (by looking at graphs, etc.): http://www.toyodiy.com - I've found it as a most helpful one http://lexus.sewellparts.com 2. Websites to purchase from: *1: Check websites from (1) above for what you need. They should quote prices. Contact you dealer to know their price and chase them for a discount (dont expect more than a 20% discount at max) *2: Spare parts search is different for each website. One site can give you "42603-60520" as your spare part. Another can ignore the dash ("4260360520"). Another require a space instead of a dash ("42603 60520") http://www.amazon.com/ http://www.ebay.com/ http://www.rockauto.com http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ http://www.napaonline.com http://shop.advanceautoparts.com
  8. Dear All, Has anyone created a custom navigation disk, with your own maps on it? GX470 is not officially sold in my location - so, the OEM navigation shows my location as if I were in the middle of the ocean. I have .nm2 maps (originally for Navitel) of my location and am wondering if I can somehow upload them to the truck's navigation system. If you have any experience or suggestions, please share your thoughts. Thank you, Eugene
  9. Dear All, I've got clamps for my doorstill moulding broken (sorry if I used unknown terminology, attached pictures will explain for itself). I've got no Lexus dealer in my place (Russia). Toyota dealer suggested the spare part (for Prado) should be as indicated in the attached file "4_Scheme_marked_reduced.gif". However, it looks different from the actual clamp I have ("3_Clamp.gif"). Would appreciate expert advice as to which spare part (for clamps) I should look at ebay or somewhere else. Specific description is by reference to attached pictures. Thank you, Eugene
  10. Dear All, One of my tire pressure sensors went off (no signal). Well, their battery is not designed to withstand 7 years... I am looking to buy replacement sensors (all 5). There is no official dealer in my place (Russia). A Toyota dealer could give me a catalogue # 42607-35010 for my sensors and quoted a $170 price for each. I couldn't find such # in ebay, but found a lot of other allegedly compatible (and much cheaper) sensors. Can someone knowledgeable guide me which sensors to order (e.g. make/specific model)? Many thanks in advance, Eugene
  11. My GX470 (2005) uses the same in the town as per the built-in sensor. I use "Superior" but the truck is operated in a place in Russia where gas is constantly referred to be of a poor quality. Still, on the highway it uses just around 15 liters of gas per 100 km (not sure which mpg it would give you) - both with speeds within 90-110 and 110-140 kmh range. My friend who has 2008 LX570 (bought it new) reports comparably the same range of consumption. Not sure if this helps as gas here is indeed much worse than in the US (if you're in the US)...
  12. i always had the same discomfort with A/C turned on on all cars I had. just believe its normal. further to vibration, I also felt some "punch" when applying the brakes half-way, e.g. in a jam, when I stop and then slowly release the brake, there's a feeling as if someone got smashed into you from the behind -- you would have to apply the brake more firmly to stop the car. overall, not such a big prob, just need to be a bit more careful when you turn A/C on...
  13. you dont have to remove the light assembly. just remove the plastic guard, take a torch and find where the bulb is from the top (looking at where the turn signal is located at the front, then finding this place from the inside). Then reach the bulb from the top (you indeed would have to do it blind because of the battery, so better wear gloves not to hurt your hand) and turn it couter clockwise to remove. a tip: try to locate, remove and re-install the right turn bulb first as you have more flex there (no battery), then you'll feel more comfortable working on the left bulb. i did the above myself a number of times -- no probs, you just have to do it once and then you'll get used to it

  15. Just to let you know that since clearing the codes, no error indicators poped up. I believe the issue was indeed either with a bad fuel or with a lose cap.
  16. As far as I remember: press INFO button for > 5 secs, then turn on/off (in sequence) your tail lights. It will give access to menu. Probably the procedure is a bit different, but I am sure you will easily find it at this forum or in google. Try searing for "service menu". P.S. Apologies for the delay in responding -- no notification came of a new email posted. If not helpful to you, the response may still be helpful to others...
  17. All, it feels like a have the clunk problem as well. There is no dealer in my place (NOT the U.S.) who would replace the shaft for free. Anyone has any idea how much it could cost (at least on the US market -- materials plus work). The key question I believe is how critical is it to repair the clunk. What can happen (at least theoretically) if I go on as it is? (the clunk feeling does not discomfort me much). Many thanks for replies in advance.
  18. All, to report the outcome if it may help anyone: Went to Toyota dealer this morning and was present during a scan check of error codes. There were two: - P0441 - Evaporative Emission Control. System Incorrect Purge Flow; and - P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control. System Leak Detected (Gross Leak). They suspected that the indicators went on because the gas cap might had been loose in the past, causing the wrong pressure readings in the tank, as if there was a leak. We saw some minor ice on the perforation on the inner edge of the cap, it might have been that the gas quality was poor with some water in it... Or maybe it was just a trace of snow that came in during my last refill (it was snowing), I dont know. In any event, they tried to check for any leaks. When the prob occurred last morning, and this morning as well, I checked the surface under the car for any spills, there were none; all liquids under the hood are also okay, so I doubt there is any "gross leak" as reported by the scanner. The Toyota guys were not able to check if there was a leak -- they said no physical works are required to do that, all this can be checked via a scanner sending commands to the car. The scanner, however, refused this check because of a 9/10 full gas tank. They said to do a check, the scanner causes pressurising vapors in the tank (this way it also checks the charcoal filter), it's only possible to do that when the tank is not full (they recommended approx. 1/2 full). Specifically checked VSC, there were no errors recorded. Specifically checked the gas flow/comsumption and injenction components and O2 sensors, running the car at different RPMs, all okay. So, they cleared all the codes and advised to come again if the indicators pop up for a second time. The car's performance is good, VSC is back to work (it took it a while to resume operations after the error codes clearing). Will let you know any developments.
  19. Thanks for advice, did not see references to battery in other threads on similar issues. Will unlikely work for me, though -- I replaced the battery a month or so ago; as the engine starts very quickly even in cold temperatures, all should be well with leads and wires.
  20. Dear All, 2005 GX 470 with 50k miles, in my use for 2 months. With ignition in "ON", all normal service reminder indicators go on except for KDSS (it should go on for a while but it does not -- but probably it never went on, I did not check it). All indicators then go off except for the mulfunction one ("check engine"). In a couple of seconds the VSC OFF, VSC TRAC and the Slip indicator also go back on (in addition to "check engine") and remain on after starting the engine. It happened after an overnight parking (did not do anything unusual before then). The fuel cap is tightened; the engine oil level is okay; no slippages of any liquid are visible. Re-starting the engine does not help, same as moving the 4WD selector between L, N and H. Tried slow driving, seems to be as usual. Now in park. Checked the service menu. In the "System Check Mode" all components are okay (see "Photo-0011.jpg"). Having checked EMV, NAVI and DSP-AMP in the "LAN Monitor" mode (see "Photo-0010.jpg"), they all show some codes (e.g. "Photo-0013.jpg"). However, "Unit Check" for each of these components has no records (e.g. "Photo-0014.jpg"). Questions: - it is okay to drive with the check engine reminder on? - what the said codes of LAN monitor may mean / do they indicate a malfunction? - any tips what else I can check on my own before going to a dealer? - where can I find the repair manual in electronic form? Prior discussions of a similar issue with VSC and check engine indicators at these forums suggest there might be a failure of O2 sensors, charcoal filter, fuel pipe, etc. I will share my experience as well when (and if) I resolve it (Lexus does not officially sell GX470 in my place, so no qualified dealer is available).
  21. Hi there, If it lasts for year, there may be a number of reasons already causing it (low compression level, plugs, etc.), so I would strongly suggest you ask a dealer to check all the systems before it gets worse. What you describe is very similar to what people have in my place. When poor quality fuel or not recommended fuel additives are used (even once or twice), sediments or something get stuck in the fuel flow system and with time the engine starts not to run smoothly, shuts off or does not start. Normally it only happens when cold temperatures hit but then it does not go away until you clean the whole fuel flow system. This is quiet expensive but an alternative is the risk of an engine stop in the middle of driving. As said, you may have many reasons for shut down combined together, so best is to have a dealer check. Good luck!
  22. Hi there, Not sure if it will help -- just some thoughts... If it cranks for a second but then happens nothing, this might be a bad capacity battery, normally it happens with new batteries if they were kept in cold (did you check it when you bought it?). Check the indicator on the battery first, it should be green if okay. Also check that the leads are firmly connected to the battery. Maybe a good idea to check each fuse one by one as the problem may be in many areas e.g. battery, starter, etc. In any event, the designation of fuses should be at the back of the owner's manual. If you dont have the manual by hand, you can find it in the net for free -- start with WWW.MANUALS.WS. If the fuses are okay, it might be a prob with a starter... What you can also do is check the systems via the service manual. Not sure about RX, but to access it in GX, you have to hold the info button for 5 secs and turn on and off the parking lights 3-5 times in succession. Then a menu appears, listing different systems -- you'd have to wait while the car checks them. After that, you'd either have "ok" reported on all systems or, I would think, a failure code, which you could google to see what it means. If the system check does not start, do the same procedure again (i.e. info button and playing with parking lights) to enter further service menus, I think there are 3 of them which come one by one each time you do the procedure... Good luck!
