  1. My understanding is that when the head lights are on, pulling of the stick for the windshield will also activate the headlight washers. I guess the thought here is if you're windshield is dirty, so is your headlights. Again this only applies when they're on, such as when they automatically turn on at night or when you manually turn them on. Try pulling the stick in the daytime when your headlights are not on, the headlight washers won't spray. One solution may be if driving at night and you want only the windshield, manually turn off the headlights (not sure if this is possible on the left hand stick), spray windshield to your satisfaction, then turn back on headlights. good idea! But there's still gotta be another way to turn this off...
  2. I notice that IS has the radar cruse, which requires a large 3"x5" "box" device on the front bumper- that bumper must be designed for this unit. And those headlights look aftermarket... And rear tails are new for the '10 model. I know the radar cruise is rare and for the RX it requires a special bumper...
  3. The chrome front grille is from the Lexus Rx330 Thundercloud Ed. <_< Perfect replacement! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-JDM-Harrier-Grille-Lexus-RX330-350-400-thundercloud-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2a0676698cQQitemZ180497049996QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  4. I'd take the old Volvo over a Jeep
  5. Hey guys. Anyone notice that when washing the windshield (pulling the stick on the steering column forward) that the headlight washers go off as well? I know there's a separate switch JUST for the headlight washers, but for some reason whenever i put the windshield washer spray on, the headlight washer sprays too, but only the first time i pull the switch. Anyone know if this setting can be adjusted? I just detailed my car the other day, and today i tried to wash JUST the windshield to get rid of some bug spatter, but as usual the headlight washers went off too and sprayed the entire front end which has now collected a bunch of pollen I couldn't find anything in the list of dealer programmable options...
  6. I think you'd have a lot of problems getting the car to work with a new system. All of the radio controls can also be adjusted through the nav screen as well as on the radio itself. I think you'd most likely lose these features and probably the features that mute the radio when a call comes in and what not.
  7. You're gonna get them brand new? I'd try to find them used, either from ebay or a local junkyard. Brand new the whole set will put you back $1000. Used, you could probably find the whole set for < $300... I'm not sure if the plugs for the wiring would be exact, you might have to do some cutting and soldering, that's all.
  8. I wish they'd start producing them in the US, i'd like to see them on the road <_<
  9. Thanks guys :) I get a lot of mixed opinions about the front nudge bar, i just like it because it stands out. It's also proved to be useful for pushing shopping carts out of the way in parking lots <_< And actually i like the Dunlop tires. I didn't pick them, they came with the chrome rims when i bought them last summer. Apparently they're over $200/each (...woah) and the ratings were just above the factory Michelins. When they need replacing i'll probably opt for the Alenza's though... much cheaper and better performance. I do notice however that the Dunlops don't squeal when taking corners, as my winter set of Michelins squeal honestly EVERY time i try to accelerate around a corner. Not sure why that is though as they both have the same tread left...
  10. Does your GS have factory HID? I think the pre-01's were standard halogen. So in this case, behind the headlights there've gotta be some adjustment screws. Look for metal bolts coming out of the back, try turning them in both directions and seeing if the beams raise or lower. One direction is raise, the other lower.
  11. Also, the 01 LS did not have AFS. AFS was only available on the 04-06's. Auto-leveling is different than AFS. The 01-03 LS's will have a different setup...

  13. Pry up the wooden plate surrounding the shifter panel with a flathead screwdriver (it's held in place with clips). Then pull out the wood panel with the cig lighter and heated seats etc (also just held in with clips). Then you can remove the 10mm bolts that hold the radio in place. Then remove the radio by pulling it out (it's also held in place with clips). Then remove more 10mm bolts that hold the nav unit in place, then pull (also held in place with clips).
  14. If you were to adjust the mirrors, there's a 3-position switch- the left position is "L", the middle position is blank, and the right position is "R". If you leave this switch in the "L" or "R" positions, while in R the mirrors will fold down. If you leave this switch in the center position, the mirrors will no longer fold down in R. This is the best way i can describe it...
  15. Hey guys :) I just got the Rx400h detailed and wanted to share some pics! :D Enjoy and please comment!
  16. Check out some of the links in my signature <_<
  17. The "+" indicates that it's a brighter bulb. It's also more yellow than the standard 85122. The bulbs "are" interchangeable, meaning switching them won't harm anything, but you will definitely notice the difference in output and color. My 08 Rx400h comes stock with 85122+, but i believe the older generation RX's came stock with the standard 85122. Personally i'd take the standard 85122 as they're a little more "white".
  18. Hey guys, I spent the entire day detailing my Rx400h today and wanted to report how it went. <_< A few weeks ago i performed the first proper "wash" since the end of last summer, and noticed a lot of new scratches on the exterior. I also clayed the entire car (with Turtle Wax's Ice Clay bar) which also created some areas that needed some work... Ordinarily i'd just lightly wetsand, buff and use a good glaze to try and hide imperfections- but this year i decided to try something new (an idea recommended by my autobody shop). The guys at my autobody shop suggested i fill each scratch with clearcoat, allow to cure, then wetsand and polish, basically acting as a permanent glaze fix- so i gave it a shot. I cleaned each scratch, mixed some clear, and dabbed it in with a toothpick, applying coat after coat until the clear was raised higher than the surrounding paint. I let the paint cure a few weeks, and today i did the rest. I block wet-sanded over the scratches with 2000 grit paper until the clear was entirely flat, and polished to a shine. In the past i've used "3M Scratch Remover" with a rotary polisher to polish the wetsand marks, and it's always worked pretty well. But a few weeks ago on my annual trip to Autozone (for materials) i stumbled on this new product from Meguiar's, called "Ultimate Compound". On the front of the bottle it was advertised as being able to cut faster than other compounds, so i thought i'd try it for myself. I used it just as i would any other compound, applied a little to the buffer wheel and ran a few sweeps across the scratch. And i have to say, this stuff is GREAT! It eliminated the wetsand marks MUCK quicker than the 3M Scratch Remover ever did, and the shine was much more brilliant. I couldn't believe how little effort it took to eliminate the scratches and bring out the shine, it was pretty amazing! :D I like this stuff not only because it's faster, but because it allows for less contact time with the rotary buffer and the paint. As the rotary buffer spins, it creates heat which can easily remove or melt the paint if kept in contact too long (made that mistake before...). But with this Meguiar's stuff, the buffer wouldn't even have enough time to create any heat before the scratches were gone. I just kept the buffer on medium spin (5/10) and within seconds, the scratches were gone- and without swirl marks! Only word i can describe this stuff as, is "amazing". I don't know how one single compound can act so aggressively yet STILL polish to a shine without swirls... And amazingly enough, the idea of filling the scratches with clear and wet-sanding and polishing WORKS just like i was told. All of the scratches i worked on are 99% better, only visible if you look right at them. Thankfully none of the scratches were very long or went through to the original color coat, so this method worked great. And after the scratches were fixed, i went over the entire car with 3M's Imperial Hand Glaze and finished it off with Collinite #845 Insulator Wax. I used Lane's Super Blue tire shine on the tires and black plastic trim, and cleaned the entire interior with the steam cleaner and vacuum. I LOVE a properly detailed car! B) Just as i was finished working on the car, it started to POOR (thankfully i got it back in the garage in time) so i will have to take some pictures tomorrow. I've got my chrome summer set of wheels on the car too- the car just looks SO good!! So the moral of the story is: if you need a good cutting compound, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound is the one! :)
  19. Hey guys! Last night my girlfriend and i went to see a movie, "Letters to Juliet", a love story set in present day Italy. Although i didn't really appreciate the story line, there was one thing that got my attention. Throughout the entire movie, one of the characters was driving this very interesting looking hatchback/SUV. I had NEVER seen this car before and i couldn't make out the badging, so the second i got home i researched it. I googled, "black suv letters to juliet" and found out the identity to the mysterious car- a Lancia Delta. Apparently it's Italian, and not sold in the US. Although in my research i found some stories that Lancia/Fiat is merging with Chrysler, and that this car may soon be sold in the US under the Chrysler name... It sort of looks like the Nissan Murano/ Infiniti FX. I really like it! This is what i thought the new RX would have looked like... What do you guys think? Here are some more pics...
  20. Yupp, apparently so... very strange
  21. Do each window individually from its own door switch this way: Roll the window down half-way. Then roll it up, but still "hold" the button for a few seconds even after it's fully closed. For the moonroof, just open it all the way (holding the button down), then close. It works for me...
  22. How's your car battery? Try unplugging the battery (either terminal) for a half hour and plugging it back in.
