  1. Hi! Can anyone give me a supplier for '94 LS rear axle carrier bushes please, cannot find a UK supplier. cheers ;)
  2. Another guess from over the pond, a pal of mine had a Ford that would idle perfectlly but would not drive at all. Problem was low fuel line pressure, new fuel pump fixed it. If you think it's flooding with fuel, have you checked the injectors? cheers
  3. Did you scrupulously clean the hub before fitting the new rotor? If it doesn't run true because of debris or rust behind it, this causes problems...... ;)
  4. Your voltmeter checks the battery with no load.......when you crank the engine, may take 200amps, that will kill a failing battery. Try a known good battery before doing anything else!! ;)
  5. Go for a fresh set of plugs first, make sure all HT leads in correct firing order, and are good........if no better, only then throw money at it.......!!!
  6. Check behind each wheel the wire going close to the pads. If any wire has a break in it the warning light will stay on. At the end of each wire is little block [ best I can describe it] if you run your pads to the death this block wears away breaking the circuit and turning the warning light on. You will have to replace it or as I did on my rear pads rejoined the break until I have time to fix it. I believe this is a 'kludge fix' in the USA!!! CHEERS. ;)
  7. I just did this repair on my '94 LS I got the info from this site some time ago and saved it. I think the original post was by Cole Carter. You have to change three capacitors, it's not too hard a job if you can solder small parts successfully. The originals are v. small surface mount and you have to be careful not to pull the track up from the board. All the info is on your site and it works perfect. B) Cost of parts US about 2 dollars max.
  8. according to the w/s manual the maximum resistance allowed is 25kohms per cord. If they exceed this they should be replaced. presumably new ones should be well below this but can not find the info in the manual. hope this might help......
  9. You just need a decent socket set and spanners. When I did my '94 the only snag was that the crankshaft pulley was VERY tight You need a long breaker bar and maybe even a length of scaffolding tube as an extension. Make sure you slacken this before you start removing all the other stuff! The crankshaft damper on mine came off without a puller, but it might be worth finding someone with a 3 leg puller just in case I found the job more slow than difficult, there is a lot to remove....mark or photograph as you go, a friendly mechanic to help is worth a few quid, sorry I mean bucks!
  10. On my '94 LS there is a wear sensor on each wheel. If you change the pads unhook them carefully, if you break one = open circuit and the dashboard warning light will come on. If it's already on, the sensor has worn through, and will have to be replaced. It is just a loop of wire that plugs in behind the disc, when the pads get too low the end wears off creating an open circuit.
  11. You will see flat round caps inside the front edge of the glove compartment, these pry out and I think maybe some screws near the support hinge. Cannot remember exactly I looked in mine 2 years ago. ... There is lots of info on your US club site, look through some of the old posts, there is a search facility as well. Try these sites for a start. if I find any more info on the glove box I'll send it on. http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusLS400str1.htm http://www.pearsonimaging.com/LS/tutorials.html cheers... ;)
  12. I should have written if your 'tilt steering MEMORY setting' works OK go for the # 2 fuse. The 'memory' mirrors are linked to the Tilt and Telescopic ECU,mirror switch, each mirror motor and ground. Without memory the mirror switch is supplied with current from the RADIO # 2 FUSE. Not sure if part numbers are the same for series 1 LS [up to November 1992 in the UK.] and series 2 [Nov. '92 on.] If the fuse is OK, before you source a replacement ECU, make sure you have got one.!! Take out the glove compartment [not too bad a job] and have a look. Keep away from the air bag cable[yellow] and electrics while you are in there. Cannot help on prices, Lexus parts cost an arm and a leg over here. Some of our LOC members order parts from the US 'cos they are cheaper! You will have better chance than me for a junked LS [you have more!], you might find a good ECU that way. regards Roy
  13. Hi! The outside mirrors have two fuses depending on if you have 'memory mirrors' [like the seats] or not. They are controlled by the DOME fuse [engine bay] or RADIO NO 2 fuse [bottom of steering column area]. If your tilt stering works go for the # 2 fuse. If still no good they may be memory mirrors and the ECU is behind the glove compartment. [Or a break in the wire after # 2 fuse.] Hope this helps!
