  1. I have an 09 IS350 and the navigation system and bluetooth phone system seems to be the same. You can dial while driving if the number is already programmed in your "speed dial" or "phone book". If it is a new number; you must "dial by number" which means you speak the number and it will dial for you. It actually works very well. I can speak a 10 digit number quickly and it has yet to get it wrong. Same thing goes for the navigation. You can enter an address or point of interest by speaking. That way you do not have to be involved in the screen. As for the driving and handleing features. It feels exactally the same to me! But I was not in the loaner for that long so I don't really have the knowledge. :D
  2. Uhg I think someone made a mistake.
  3. I got an 09 IS350 with a sticker of 43k for 37k here in Houston, Texas...way far away from you so I dunno if this helps. It has the HID headlights, navigation and others. They still had 08's on the lot but I did not look at those. I would guess they would be cheaper to try and get rid of them right?
  4. Get the 350 and just be careful in the snow. You will enjoy the power of the 350 better. And I am sure the summers there are just as long soooooo.......get the 350!!
  5. I have mine on 7 and it is very loud. I suggest when you are trying to concentrate on driving in unfamiliar territory you should not blare the music while the lady is talking to you. And it should automatically turn the music down when she starts to speak. Are you SURE it is set @ 7?
  6. I'm sure the front airbag came out correctly. They are supposed to inflate and deflate so quickly you are unable to see it with the naked eye without a high speed camera. You will never see the airbag fully inflated. This is so if you need to still manuver the car after an accident; you can do so without the inflated airbag in the way. As for the side airbags depending on how hard the car hit you, it might not have exceeded the threshold of the airbag system. It sounds like the car may have hit more closer to the front abruptly stopping your truck causing the front airbag to inflate. Front airbag systems are deployed based how fast the car decelerates. As for the side airbags. Maybe you were not hit hard enough. You got pictures?
  7. I have a 2009 Lexus IS350 and you cannot enter information while in motion unless you use the voice feature. You can speak an address or phone number and it will work while the car is in motion. The override feature does not work on 2009 models.
  8. I just purchased a 2009 IS350 and have noticed this problem already. I wash the car and even if i only drive a few miles there is already a flim of brake dust on the wheels. But this is what you get with high friction brake systems. Usually the more brake dust you see; the better the braking system. B)
  9. I should change just the fluid? Or the accumulator on the front drivers side? The truck still rides very smooth....though a rattle trap.
  10. Yes this is a big problem for the Toyota/Lexus family. I have owned 2 4Runners and my current 98 LX470 does the same thing! Even when the tires are road forced balanced the shimmy @ highway speed still exists. Though not as bad. BUT GET THIS. My mother is looking for a new car and we went and test drove a new 2008 4Runner with 25 miles on it and guess what. The steering wheel was shaking on the highway! WTF is up with that? There is obviously a problem??!?!
  11. I have heard speculation that because the SC is one of their worst selling models that when the IS convertible comes out they are going to stop making the SC. Is this true? I hope not. I'd like to get one new in a few years whenever I can afford it. Wondering if anyone has heard the same. <_<
  12. I get my parts from http://lexuspartsonline.com I looked up the shocks for the front. They go for $172.53 each.
  13. My LX470 has 88k miles on it and the CV joints are shot. How much is a reasonable price for left and right plus labor? Dealer vs. local shop.
  14. This website was helpful to me. No pictures but explaints really well. Seems really easy to do. Makes me wonder why the dealership charges so much. The 4 suspension accumulators are the flattened softball sized & shaped black metal objects located under the running boards, outboard of the frame rails, between the front and rear wheels. Easy to see and get to by just getting on your hands and knees. Nothing else is in the way of them. http://activesuspensionsystems.com/index.html

  16. Why can't they just weld the holes shut like you can on any other exhaust part? And how would I know if mine are going out also. I've got 88k miles on mine.
  17. My bad on the topic, it leans to the LEFT, not right. On my 98 LX470 I have noticed that when it is parked and you look at it from the rear; the truck looks like it is leaning to the left. I measured the distance from the front wheels on each side to the fender and the drivers side is about an inch lower than the passenger side. What would made the truck lean to one side like this? Even when you raise the height with the AHC it still raises and lowers but always stays about an inch apart from the rest of the truck. I asked once about new shocks and the Lexus rep said that they should never need to be replaced. He said they are part of the AHC system. So why would the truck sag to one side like this? After looking at some of these posts, if it is a problem with the AHC it seems very expensive to fix!! <_< And also when coming out of a turn, when you let the steering wheel go and the power steering takes over, more times than none I can hear and feel a "pop" type noise coming from either the steering components or something like that under the front end of the truck. What could that be?
  18. Strange, your truck should NEVER die. Could be the alternator. Is it dying only at idle? And secondly when you come to a stop do all the electronics and A/C cut off first and the engine bog down?
  19. Yes I had the same problem when I first got my truck with only 67k miles on it and it WAS the starter. It would click sometimes and it would take a few times to get it started. I had a friend I know that works on foreign cars here in Houston do it for me and he only charged me $75 dollars for the part and labor because the dealership wanted over a $1000 dollars to do it. But 2 years later something similar happened and it ended up being the battery was defective and it was a LEXUS battery. It would click and sometimes starts and sometimes not. Just like the starter did. But because I knew I had a recently replaced starter I thought it was something else. So before I wanted to go to get the starter fixed again I went down to my local AutoZone and got a new Duralast Gold battery for 80 dollars and everything has worked perfect!! So I would try a different battery first and if the problem still persists. Get your starter changed.
  20. Ok so I got rid of the LEXUS battery that was in my truck and got one at my local AutoZone; and so far so good. I guess we will have to wait and see!!
  21. You'd think that the xenon headlights would at LEAST be an option on such an expensive truck. They are not even optional. To me, that is the only thing missing!!! That alone would keep me from purchasing. I had them installed on my 470 but who knows it you'd be able to get it done on the 570 with the AFS. Anybody try yet? <_<
  22. You might want to try and adjust the suspension setting on the center console. If it is on the sport setting try moving it to the left towards "comfort"
  23. For some reason I do remember seeing a post on some other website that the smokey topaz color was recalled. I think that is the only color that is fading horribly. I have a 98 in the green color and it looks just as new as when I got it. It sits alot in the hot sun here in the Houston area. They should definatly fix it even if its not under warranty anymore. That is what a recall is for right?
  24. A blown fuse maybe?
